Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
oceanst41French Rageamerks127 Because the team was popular, Athletics could run the line and charge $234 for season tickets (though I seem to recall older students telling me that ticket prices were not that high back in the '02-'06 era). Not even close to that amount in that era, I remember them being even less than half that, somewhere in the $110 range. I am pretty sure my first set of seaby nr53 - Hockey

Beeeejnr53For all the complainers out there, and for those too lazy to do it themselves, I made my own version of the schedule on Google (hey, I get bored easily at work ). It's called "Cornell Mens Hockey 08/09" has home and away games and the games are scheduled to be 2.5 hrs which is fairly accurate if I remember correctly. Some pictures of D'Agostino at the Penguins prospect camp were posted on uscho if anyone is interested. (#6,7,20 and 35) Also some from Braden Birch at the Blackhawks camp (#'s 37, 44 and 46). There are also probably a few in here (http://www.uscho.com/pictorial.php/133/) but I don't feel like going through 137 pictures at the moment (it's quitting time :-p)by nr53 - Hockey

Times UnionUnable to make it up the incline on College Street(sic), I was forced to turn left down Cook Street. Re: Union games not televised - 16 years ago
jeff '84 Thanks, there was also a link about Riley Nash being ranked as Oilers' top prospect by Hockey News, but at the same time THN was "anything but complimentary of the Big Red program, ripping on Cornell's "soft schedule" and later referring to it as a "weaker program." Re: The Athletic Department and Cornell Hockey - 16 years ago
I've never really understood how they can revoke someone's season tickets. It's not that you have to scan the ticket or provide ID when coming in to the rink. I do remember that students put down their ID numbers when buying tickets but it would be really simple to swap with a friend and say that you sold yours at the beginning of the season and then bought random games from friends. Re: Cornell 3 at Quinnipiac 2 (OT), post game - 16 years ago
The last game of hockey I've seen online was the funk of a 2nd and 3rd periods Cornell put up against Union. I refused to watch RPI and well look how that turned out. Today I even watched basketball... BASKETBALL! in order to keep myself from listening to hockey. Then I saw that Cornell was up 2-1 and that QU had pulled their goalie and thought "A little quick listen can't hurt can it?"by nr53 - Hockey

Re: New York Times rides with Cornell Hoops - 16 years ago
A similar type of story about a small school in Mississippi. I know that the nytimes article portrayed Cornell as a bit of a "have-not" in the sense that they had to ride a bus, but I think we can all pretty much agree that the players at Alcorn State have it much worse.by nr53 - Other Sports
Re: Nik Pokulok - 16 years ago
ursusminor USHR did say "He’s also a really bright kid," so that probably wasn't the problem. They did, however, also say "However, the younger Pokulok doesn’t have the offensive skills of his older brother." The fact that 2008 Clarkson recruit Julien Cayer is a teammate at Northwoods probably helped. As long as he's as slow as Sasha, I can live with thatby nr53 - Hockey
Re: Your 2007-08 Ivy League Champion Princeton Tigers - 16 years ago
The way I see it, winning the Ivy title means that Cornell has played well against a large portion of the conference. I'm not sure if it would mean more or less if the Ivy teams were split into different conferences (sorta like the beanpot but not?). I'm not going to lose any sleep over the chance of winning, but there's definitely a school-pride aspect there that I can identify with. They're preby nr53 - Hockey

Re: New York Times rides with Cornell Hoops - 16 years ago
I've never been a big fan of basketball, though I find the College game much more interesting than the professional one. I agree that Cornellians should embrace any sport that is bringing positive recognition to the school, be it a smaller niche sport or something more main stream. That said, I don't think it's too hard to follow two sports at once. I don't see myself choosing a basketball game oby nr53 - Other Sports
