Re: TSN Ranks Riley Nash #33 for the upcoming draft - 16 years ago
The player development coach for the Oilers has some pretty nice (worrisome?) words about Riley's progress so far this year. It might be a good sign that he mentions that Riley has to get bigger, which he can certainly do at Cornell so maybe they'll let us have him for another year...by nr53 - Hockey
Re: USCHO - 16 years ago
I kinda split my time between uscho and collegehockeynews. The comparison link on chn is fairly cool (when looking at schedules). It breaks down record, pp/pk %, injuries and stuff like that for each team. The short weekend roundups can be good too, but they don't have them for every game so don't count on reading too much Cornell stuff there.by nr53 - Hockey

kroseKillerRon Paul is a certified "whack job". He's a whack job in the same way Jefferson, Washington, and Samuel Adams were whack jobs. I'll take that kind of whack job over the big government, military interventionist, anti-Constitutionalist, pro-centralization, anti-liberty criminals who comprise every other candidate on the list. Re: Goalkeeper Interference - 16 years ago
I've seen standing in the way of a goalie or tapping him a bit, but if you look closely it just looked to me like Scrivens was hip checked and that's a bit much.by nr53 - Hockey

Re: Bad News for Basketball - 16 years ago
In an amusing show of sibling rivalry, my sister (a gtown undergrad) sent me this: which on 1/21/08 had Cornell as a number 15 seed playing the hoyas in the first round. To be honest, I almost died laughing at how enthusiastic she sounded about it. :-pby nr53 - Other Sports

I didn't feel like starting a new thread, but does anyone know of a good sports bar in the San Jose area? google maps shows a few of them, but I don't know how likely they would be to let a small number of people use a tv.by nr53 - Hockey
Re: 1/5/08: Niagara 1 Cornell 2 (2nd) - 16 years ago
lynah80Nash needs to pass the puck more on the PP I think R. Nash needs to pass the puck in general... I feel like he's trying to force things too much himself and mostly getting the puck knocked off his stick going into the zone. I thought the same thing of Greening and that makes me worry a bit. It seemed to be the same with Romano last year and I just hope it doesn't end up the same way.by nr53 - Hockey

KeithK Hey, I'm an engineer. I'm not supposed to know how to count! As the punchline to one of my favorite engineering jokes goes: The engineer looked at the math problem (1 + 1 = ?) and said "2... no wait, better make it 3"by nr53 - Hockey

MOBalumBeeeejAnd classy move by Donahue to give the rest of the Cornell team some playing time in Cameron. Absolutely - K could've acknowledged the gesture and put in his own scrubs to accept the resignation, but no. The radio announcers said the dookies put in their own subs, but to be honest I wasn't completely paying attention.by nr53 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell 6, Niagara 0 Postgame - 16 years ago
I thought the power play looked very good, and while it might have been due to lack of pressure by Niagara, I did notice that on a few occasions Cornell didn't just cycle the puck but were actually moving themselves around as well. The passes seemed to flow a lot better during these times as well. Hope they can keep up the good work!by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Stout - 16 years ago
Rich S And as he quickly pointed out after glancing at their beer menu, they have Stella Artois on tap. Cool! Not quite the phrase I'd use to describe Stella, but maybe that's just my Belgian side being snobbish ... That said, I would kill for a chance to have some Saranac out here on the west coast.by nr53 - Hockey

Re: Online Risk v. other Ivies - 16 years ago
There's nothing like another competition between the ivies The game is surprisingly fun, and your level of involvement can really vary. I see tons of people posting strategy advice and trying to get people to cooperate or you can be like me and update my armies based on what everyone else is doing (unless it's a really bonehead move then I let my armies have some fun).by nr53 - John Spencer Is Dead

I had a few idiots come over to my group and start calling out "Sucks to CU" at us and just countered with the obvious "Sucks to BU". Fisticuffs were avoided by finding common ground that harvard does indeed suckby nr53 - Hockey
Re: Dan Nicholls Named ECAC Rookie of the Week - 16 years ago
According to the pdf release, Nicholls' first two goals helped snap a 3-game losing streak! Wait what? Someone had a very mean imagination or just mixed up breaking a winning streak with a losing streak. The night before. Edit: oh and we only got 1 point last weekend too according to another one of their articles...by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Daily Sun analysis of the upcoming matchup - 16 years ago
Chris '03RichHjtwcornell91Al DeFlorioRobbursusminormartyursusminorAnn Coulter went to Cornell? I think Cornell will lose by a forfeit. Two words: Tacoma narrows. We did better with the Brooklyn Bridge. And we with Ginsburg. But then we have Wolfowitz. Trying to decide whether to counter with Olbermann or Maher. Either is cancelled by Bettman. But any proof is stolen by Berger.by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Harvard 2 postgame - 16 years ago
Rita Here's hoping they can put together as good an effort tomorrow and come away with two points. LGR! According to the front page of USCHO, we've managed to steal two points tonight with a win over Yale... I know we won last weekend but I didn't think it was so good a win that they would see fit to give us two more points for itby nr53 - Hockey
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (OT) - 16 years ago
RichH I know redheadfanatic said "cheapest way" so this is more in response to Fred. Another option is to split a rental car. I just did a quick search on Travelocity, and I see rentals from Avis starting at $39 a day. A pick-up Saturday morning and drop off Sunday afternoon totals $97. Split that 2-3 ways (also accounting for gas and tolls) and you're in the $50-80 range per personby nr53 - Hockey
