martyJosh '99ben03Josh '99nyc94OatPeople tend to hate the elite / the strong. True but there are plenty of reasons to hate the Yankees. I get tired of the Minnesota fans on USCHO saying that everyone is jealous of their team's success, especially as measured by NCAA titles. By that logic I should hate Michigan or Denver more - but I don't.Maybe everyone is jealous of their success as measuredby nr53 - Hockey
Re: Scrivens on the INCH Hobey "Big Board" - 15 years ago
I probably sound jaded, but I've always seen the "Hobey tracker" thing as: <forward1 with a chance to win>, <forward2 with a chance to win>, <token defensive player so it looks like we're being fair>. It makes me wonder if they should just create an award for best defenseman or something. Here's hoping they prove me wrong and Scrivens wins the damn thingby nr53 - Hockey
Re: WCHA Expansion Moratorium Lifted - 15 years ago
ithacat That might appease some of the travel concerns -- I'd rather see RIT in the ECAC & let Niagara slide into the AHA. What of the possibility of having both? They're near each other so they're natural traveling partners and that would also free up a slot for Alabama in the AHA. This would of course serve to make the ECAC HUGE, and I'm not sure if that's a good thing.by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Niagara 0 at Cornell 0 End of 1 - 15 years ago
You don't see the actual hit, but it looked like the hit on Barlow at the end kinda led with the elbow or forearm. Good to see that he didn't have to go to the locker room early but if Roeszler's hit was hfb, then that should have been a penalty too.by nr53 - Hockey

Even though the December 2008 thread is getting more posts, glad I saw this before creating my own... Iggulden has been selected for the AHL All-star game again this year. He seems to be doing pretty well for himself these past few years.by nr53 - Hockey

LaJollaRed THE FAT DARRYL I believe legend places the origins of this saintly treat somewhere in or around Rutgers University. That would be a Grease Truck creation if I'm not mistaken (a reputable source no less than wikipedia backs me up ). Quality establishmentsby nr53 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros December 2008 - 15 years ago
RatushnyFanWhat's surprising to me is they've brought up and tried so many forwards, but not the 6'3" kid leading the team in scoring who's a great penalty killer. I remember hearing some grumbles from sharks fans last year about his attitude and work ethic so I'm not sure what to think about it. I hope he gets a shot sometime, he was always fun to watch at lynah.by nr53 - Hockey

Re: New 2011 Recruit: Ben Thomson - 15 years ago
I would hope he has a sense of humor... That is a decent question though, would the amount of traffic and discussion on this board help or just make them wonder if their every move is going to be scrutinized by random alumni with nothing better to do during meetings...by nr53 - Hockey

While I agree that they seem to do fine by themselves, I like the addition of Barlow on their lines. When he plays well, Barlow is pretty damn good and I've been waiting for him to have a breakout year for a while now (I thought last year was going to do it but that never really materialized) even though he's been steadily improving this whole time. Jillson has the speed and ability with the pby nr53 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the pros November 2008 - 15 years ago
Basically right at the beginning of the fight. Instead of waiting for Douglas to get his helmet off he kinda just charged right in. Maybe more "stupid" than "cheap" since the lack of a helmet might have been softer for his hand (not that he really got in a good punch anyways).by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Colgate 1 Post-game Thread - 15 years ago
puckbunnyany updates on mugford's injury? who took him down? If I remember correctly, it was more that he was fighting for the puck going behind the net, lost his balance and footing and just fell awkwardly. The replay looked pretty painful so I hope he's doing ok.by nr53 - Hockey

JuzoHowever, the POST GRAD fans need to realize that they are in fact ....POST GRADS... THIS MEANS YOU ARE NO LONGER A STUDENT. This also means that the Post Grad people in section G hold tickets in a SITTING SECTION. This means you need to sit. If you want to stand with the other students ... go back to school and go stand in the STUDENT section. I think when they say "post-grad" thby nr53 - Hockey

couldn't 14 be Milo's? He was the last to wear the number before Riley and since he was only here a year and had limited playing time, it would make sense that his Jersey didn't sell.by nr53 - Hockey

Re: Debate analysis - 15 years ago
I probably should have posted this earlier but I didn't think about it until now. We had some fun playing bingo for the debates. I hope they do that for the other ones coming up. I found it actually made me pay more attention to what they're saying to see if I could mark it down. Sadly though, I didn't win.by nr53 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
I remember setting up a projector w/ a few friends and having a screening of the presidential debates in 2004. It was also pretty good for games and movies. I don't know if they allow them anymore but if you combine a projector (available to rent from the engineering library if not others) with some speakers and you can have a damn good time not letting other people around you sleep .by nr53 - Hockey
Re: Athletics Announces Hockey Line Procedure - 15 years ago
Josh '99oceanst41French Rageamerks127 Because the team was popular, Athletics could run the line and charge $234 for season tickets (though I seem to recall older students telling me that ticket prices were not that high back in the '02-'06 era). Not even close to that amount in that era, I remember them being even less than half that, somewhere in the $110 range. I am pretty sure my first seby nr53 - Hockey
