Re: hockey line forming - 18 years ago
Many pro sports team have some system of full and partial season ticket packages. The key to those, however, is the fact that without the partial plan, you won't come close to selling out the place. The teams that sell out their arenas on season tickets alone (e.g. NY Giants, Phila. Eagles) have zero incentive to spend the extra money to create partial plans. Therefore, in the case of Lynah wby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: STOP THE MADNESS: Bring the Bell Back to B - 18 years ago
The cowbell being somewhere other than section B is like.... 1979, when there were two cowbells, one of which was in D and the other of which, I believe, was in C. or 1981, when they had the cowbell band which usually played once between C and D (or D and E?) and the other time on the townie side of the rink at center ice (between L and M?) The cowbell doesn't need to be in B. The kby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: What I like about being a Big Red fan - 18 years ago
Last year I went to the Princeton-Alabama Huntsville game at Baker with a co-worker of mine, his wife (a UAH alumna) and their four kids, three of whom play organized hockey. I had a ball teaching his kids and the few UAH fans some of the Lynah cheers and just showing them what it feels like to be a member of the faithful. Re: [OT] New York State alcohol laws - 18 years ago
Yeah, at least we never had 3.2 beer during my lifetime. I lived in W. Virginia just after they switched from 3.2 beer sold only in ABC stores to regular beer and malt liquor sold in the local mini mart or gas station. There was only a slight increase in the rate of DWI for the next year or two.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: Better line ideas? - 18 years ago
The way they did it in the late 70's to early 80's seemed to work. Divide the student section up into three parts sold on three different days. The first part is only open to senior and grad students. The second part is open to anyone who got shut out on day 1 plus sophs and juniors. The third day is open to any student. You could buy a ticket anywhere in the student section on any day.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
Re: [OT] New York State alcohol laws - 18 years ago
For those who aren't familiar with the stupidity, Pennsylvania's archaic beer laws: - You can buy single bottles or cans in a bar or restaurant, but you must drink them there. No take out. - You can only buy a six-pack in a bar or restaurant, but you must take them out. You can't drink them there. There a limit of two six-packs. - You can only buy a case of beer at a beer distributor, butby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

In the real world there is a concept called lawsuits. If anyone did actually get injured, find a good lawyer and sue the Athletics Department, the University, and Gene Nighman. If they realize that the cost of doing it wrong far exceeds the cost of doing it right, there may be some incentive to change. It is, after all, about the almighty greenback.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

andy Wrote: Loud Guy: Pennsylvania alcohol laws... Everyone in crowd: SUCK!! Fixed your post. You can't even buy a beer in a grocery store in this state. They just passed a law to allow you to buy a case of beer on a Sunday, but only during limited hours, and only from a "beer distributor". Re: What I Did For (Sports) Love - 18 years ago
I've heard stories about Eagle fans who scheduled their wedding for the bye week so they wouldn't miss a game for their honeymoon. Personally, I don't think what I've done for sports is too far out there but: - Wearing an orange wig and a clown hat to harass Ray "Bozo" Casey when Princeton came to Lynah. - Making a foam rubber #1 hand out of an old couch cushion since nobody madeby Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey

Re: NHL: It's over - 18 years ago
It seems that the league is eliminating more east-west travel. I just saw the Flyers' schedule. They only play games against two of the three western divisions, and only one game per year against each of those teams. They've increased the number of games within the division to 6.by Jeff Hopkins '82 - Hockey
