Re: Ivy Track Recruiting - 14 years ago
Scott Kominkiewicz I know what you mean about cutting through Barton. To get from my U-Hall to Teagle for practice I would walk through the Campus Store, Statler, Barton, and across the street to Teagle. Didn't know about the tunnel then. I preferred to stay outside on my walk to practice. The cold air kept my ice cream from melting.by Killer - Other Sports
Re: Beanpot Tournament - 14 years ago
RichH Ah, my favorite sports "columnist" to hate, Dan Shaughnessy had the following piece of dreck titled "In a truly sorry state" in today's Boston Globe: Danny S. Here’s what really killed me. Last night’s Harvard roster had only one guy from Massachusetts (Chris Huxley of Weymouth). Harvard had 11 players from Canada, one from Sweden, and one from Croatia. Boston Universby Killer - Hockey

Josh '99 Killer I didn't check everyone's upcoming schedule for non-conference play, but assuming Harvard gives it up to Union, RPI, or Princeton before their annual Beanpot debacle, FWIW the ECAC could hold it into this year's playoffs. Why are you assuming Harvard is going to lose in the Beanpot? Yeah, I couldn't say that with a straight face. It's because they suck and they always tankby Killer - Hockey

Pretty subdued offense, as well, according to what the UND announcers are saying. Do we really have only 2 SOG, as Live Stats is showing?by Killer - Hockey

Unfriggin' believable - 14 years ago
For all their suckiness, guess who holds the mythical championship belt right now? Yep...SUCKS Here's the trail, as I followed it: BU starts, having won the chamiponship last season. 10/16 BU loses to UMass 3-2 10/31 UMass loses to Providence 2-1 11/8 Providence loses to Vermont 3-0 11/14 Vermont loses to BC 7-1 11/15 BC loses right back to Vermont 3-2 11/24 Vermont loses to UMass 6-by Killer - Hockey

Kyle Rose Johnny 5 Kyle Rose munchkinI'm sticking with that writer should continue to give it to us until he/she has a reason to take it away. Here's a good reason: maybe he thought some other team was more deserving? I have successfully kept myself from bitching about this for years, but I'm finally fucking sick of it. Re: Another New Recruit - 14 years ago
IIRC, Mueller played basketball because the team was desperate for anyone who could play at all (I seem to recall a rash of injuries and resignations from the team (?)), so they recruited from the other Cornell squads and Bill agreed to play. Honestly, I remember watching some of the guys on our track team horsing around on the court one day and thinking that they could probably beat the officiaby Killer - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Syracuse Postgame - 14 years ago
Killer RedscoreI firmly believe that things happen for a reason and good things are going to come out of this. I cant wait for next year. Well, one good thing that will come out of this (Boston fans will understandably disagree) is that the Red Sox won't win the World Series this year. How do I know that? You see, I was involved in negotiations with the Gods of Sport, and had worked out anby Killer - Other Sports
Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
Josh '99ACMTrotskyrediceAfter that, we can look forward to the gamblers complaining when it gets moved to some other illogical place... Since it seems to be moving in an ever-expanding counter-clockwise spiral, the next stop should be Bermuda. Little known fact about Cornell hockey: Cornell once had a goalie from Bermuda, so this wouldn't be totally inappropriate ...Like, actually from Bermudby Killer - Hockey
Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
I think Harvard's behind this. They can't draw a crowd anywhere, so why not put the tournamant in a place where no one is likely to draw a crowd, thereby leveling the playing field? They may have a nice facility there, but is there anyone who thinks of AC when they think of college hockey?by Killer - Hockey

Re: New Yankee Stadium mystery solved? - 14 years ago
Al DeFlorioKiller One of the coolest memories I have of those days was that you could actually walk out on the field after the game (though they wouldn't let you onto the infield) and wander around. There was no Monument Park, you just walked up to the monuments out in center. That was back in '60, '61. Was that common practice at all the parks 40+ years ago? Re: New Yankee Stadium mystery solved? - 14 years ago
KeithKKillerThey should have gone back to the original dimensons: 461 to dead-center, 457 to the power alley in left-center. Now those took some serious shots to get out. And what the hell, put the monuments back on the field for a little extra excitement. Amen! It's not like it wasn't easy to hit the ball out in the old days if you pulled the ball. It was less than '300 to both poles. Thby Killer - Other Sports
