Re: Harvard Hockey T-Shirt Slogan Contest - 13 years ago
Only 250? I know, I know, that may still exceed the number of people who show up. But as a public service, shouldn't they hand one out to everyone who attends, just to provide something that could be used to shield one's eyes against the glare from Teddie's dome?by Killer - Hockey
Re: Football picked eighth in media poll - 13 years ago
Towerroad Trotsky Well, Harvard is #33 and we are playing in Alston. I guess we are probably looking at about a 14 point betting line. "I am shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on here!" Folks are getting in the spirt for Atlantic City (that well-known hotbed of college hockey).by Killer - Other Sports

That would be great. Have a fantastic trip!!! And be sure to follow my wife's advice about having duck some night (I can almost taste it now...and it's breakfast time).by Killer - John Spencer Is Dead

If your schedule and travels allow, go see Divokej Bill . Happy to reimburse you if you can bring back a copy of their latest CD (Mlsna). Oh, and if all the beer suggestions still leave you craving something cold, get some zmrzlina.by Killer - John Spencer Is Dead

Cornell on Mad Men - 13 years ago
In the season premiere of Mad Men, there's a scene relatively early in the episode in which Don Draper returns to his apartment and puts on the TV. After a couple commercials, it shows a college football game being played a few days before Thanksgiving. If you listen closely you hear mention of Bill Wilson (Cornell running back from the 60s), the Tigers, and the Big Red. This may have been theby Killer - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Lax Cornell 11 Loyola 10 (3 OT) & other NCAA 1st round - 13 years ago
It's Tuesday, and the Globe still has Syracuse beating Army in 2OT. Plus they show the 14-1 Orange playing us on Saturday. Must be that whacky-liberal, anti-military bent that the local conservative talk show hosts always accuse them of having (or the sports department is just too lazy to get the facts).by Killer - Other Sports
Re: Lax Cornell 11 Loyola 10 (3 OT) & other NCAA 1st round - 13 years ago
And the Boston Globe, with no actual lax stories today, shows the final score as Syracuse 9........Army 8 (2 OT)by Killer - Other Sports
Re: Lax poll 4/19 Cornell +2 to 8th - 14 years ago
In case you missed this comment in the Laxpower Forum poll: "Big Red needs a new timekeeper with a quicker thumb. No way Cornell gets that shot off in the Dome. Big Red still climbs. (Strannywastheman)"by Killer - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Lit thread spin-off. We were planning a trip to Slovakia and the Czech Republic in the summer, though Bonni is now having second thoughts (where second thoughts equals she was distracted by an International House Hunters episode from Slovenia). Re: UNH 6 Cornell 2 postgame - 14 years ago
Greenberg '97So I couldn't tell you if having denser netting would have affected my view in those few plays, but I can say that you can't take any time to think about where the puck is. You have to see it and know immediately the location, speed, and direction. Wait, doesn't the Greenberg Uncertainty Principle say that you can only know 2 of these 3 properties of a puck?by Killer - Hockey
Re: UNH 6 Cornell 2 postgame - 14 years ago
CowbellGuyIf you're like me and Kyle,... That, in itself, is a pretty scary scenario. Nevertheless, I'm with you that this is a serious enough problem that it should be addressed. Last year's Vermont-Air Force game is a pretty strong argument in its own right. Imagine the outrage if AF had scored a later goal and been declared the winner, only they really weren't. Re: UNH 6 Cornell 2 postgame - 14 years ago
With you on this one. I was unhappy to discover that a number of my friends who'd been sitting in another section left before the game ended and were already in a local restaurant, long before we departed the arena. I let them have it when we arrived. It won't impact our friendship, but that pipeline they've always been able to count on for tickets to Lynah East may hinge on a promise to neverby Killer - Hockey

Re: Albany Roll Call II: Electric Boogaloo (NCAA Regionals) - 14 years ago
Greenberg '97 ugarte After rooting really hard for Bemidji last year I think I'll be a bit more restrained. Be careful what you wish for and all that. Excellent point. I'll just root for fights and multiple suspensions. Don't forget overtimes to tire them out. Although we don't want them going too long, sice we have the late game. Just enough to take the spring out of their Saturday legs.by Killer - Hockey

Re: 2010 NCAA hockey regional ticket situation - 14 years ago
jkahn cmoberg Beth and I will be in 117 Q 13/14 on Friday and 117 P 1/2 Saturday. So they tell me that they don't have the same seats for both nights so you have to pay individual day prices, and then you get the same seats for Saturday that I had for Friday? Seems like a lousy computer program. Agreed. I'm fighting that same battle right now on the phone. And we lost the battle (though Iby Killer - Hockey
Re: Albany Roll Call - 14 years ago
munchkin judy Last minute change of plans? I work at a pool, and since the flooding in Boston damaged some of the plumbing in the basement it's closed through until Monday meaning I don't have to be there Friday and Saturday as was scheduled. That's one of those signs that would definitely have people scratching their heads: "Pool closed due to flooding"by Killer - Hockey

Kyle Rose JasonN95 dbilmes Great quote by Scrivens in Monday's Ithaca Journal: "I'm going to be able to call these guys up in 20 years and say 'Hey remember that last game we played at home and how crazy the fans were?' We're not going to remember the score. We're not going to remember who scored, but we're going to remember the rink and the fans and the atmosphere which is what it's allby Killer - Hockey

Jim Hyla French Rage jtwcornell91 Jim Hyla jtwcornell91 Two words: fish schlongAs I posted on another thread:Personally, I'd rather not have fish in the playoffs. There's too much at stake, and there's always some dude who throws it at the wrong time. I can't imagine they're going to allow any stupidity. Re: Don't be packin' at the ECACs - 14 years ago
I remember having a few laughs with people in the line for the 2003 ECACs. Security was heightened because the Iraq war had just gotten underway, and the topic of of conversation was how impressed we'd be if the terrorists even knew there was hockey going on in Albany.by Killer - Hockey

Jim Hyla Jeff Hopkins '82 Jim Hyla Jeff Hopkins '82 Al DeFlorio Robin Anyone hitting up the Cornell at Brown basketball game tomorrow night? Re: Lax poll Feb 28 (Cornell #8 down 1) - 14 years ago
billhoward Interesting to see how real #3 Notre Dame is this year. Touchdown Jesus seems to have given up on football, can't skate when it really counts, and must have been catching some rays out of town when Maryland showed up for lax last year. I'll predict they fizzle again this year.by Killer - Other Sports

Pollsters probably bought into the "basketball pep band" theory and chose not to fault the team. Or they were too busy watching Olympic Ice Dancing to have noticed the Saturday night results.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Dartmouth 5 - 14 years ago
The thing that was driving me nuts was the number of times on the breakout where we seemed to be making these no-look, drop passes to guys coming out of the zone behind the puck handler (have I been missing that in past games where it didn't kill us?). Dartmouth always seemed to be right on top of it and picked up as many of those passes late in the game as we did. So, instead of rushing into tby Killer - Hockey

Trotsky KeithK I think snowgasm fits better. Both terms convey the orgasm meaning immediately, but Snorgasm kind of loses me on the "snow" part until I see context. Yet another dep and meaningful topic brought to you by the eLynah Forum. "Snorgasm" is the twitter feed. I figured it was hip with you kids with your funny tubes.
