Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Cornell 4 Robert Morris 1 - 17 years ago
They are being absolutely nasty about swearing. There was an usher between A and B the entire game spending 2 minutes per row, and cycling up and down. When there was a penalty, they were blatantly staring at my lips for the "asshole." So I blatantly turned to all my friends and pointed her out, telling them not to swear. She actually liked that, I think; she told me to make sure I didnby BMac - Hockey

Did anyone else notice the seat on row two, all the way on the C side? Hehehe. Some moneyed alum with a sense of humor....by BMac - Hockey

Whoooa, chill out there. I wasn't responding to your post in particular. I was trying to respond to the whole thread... That's what I get for flat (non-nested) view...by BMac - Hockey

I honestly don't understand people's pessimism...it's not like the AD is doing the construction, people. It's professionals. Bad-dum-BOOM! Thank you, thank you very much. Try the mashed potatoes.by BMac - Hockey
Ticket Price - 17 years ago
Hi, Does anyone know how much tickets will cost this year, for townies and students? I have an offer from someone with tickets in M for whole-season tickets for the full $360 (that's $18 x 20 games), but I refuse to believe that they'll charge students that much; Lynah wouldn't fill up. So, does anyone know what the cost is for each? If it turns out that student tickets are a bunch cheaper,by BMac - Hockey

So I come home after a long friday's night of partying... And watch ESPN. The "Not-top-10" is on. The second-to-last clip they show (number 2) is the halftime show at a clippers game, where some guy taking the half-court shot pulls a hammie. The very last clip they show? You know, the number ONE "not-top-ten?" In the NHL, some guy is skating behind the goal, goes to centeby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, Game 2 POSTGAME - 18 years ago
Well, the band (our band) gets huge props for fulfilling our "Pinball! Pinball! Pinball!" cheer between the second and third... they even hackled the other band to hurry up so they could start! Thanks, band! (the front of section A is greateful!)by BMac - Hockey

A's been pretty good this year... at least rows 4-6. Those rows kick ass.by BMac - Hockey

Re: Disappointment with faithful? - 18 years ago
I actually started that chant (along with Tim, Chris and Mike next to me)... it took us some time to work out when to start it. I would prefer to start one right after Arthur announces the goal- it suddenly gets quiet, and it's still on the sieve's mind. Yesterday, though, was just practice so people would know what we're saying today...plus, by the time I remembered to do it it was late in thby BMac - Hockey

As a longtime lurker, and rare poster... Listen, what I think everybody here is TRYING to say is: "Rich, shut up and go away. Nobody likes you." This was a public service announcement.by BMac - Hockey

As someone else in A (Hi Epstein, happy birthday!) I'll help you out with the slow sieve cheer. I think that would be great. Section B in?by BMac - Hockey
Re: Lynah: Cornell 4 Colgate 1 Postgame - 18 years ago
The faithful were great. There were an awful lot of toothpaste boxes out there. las, I think we sit in the same section. That guy was showing up for his second game all season- he showed up against slut with his twin brother and proceeded to act like a douche bag. (I sit right in front of where they did). Maybe if he showed up at any point earlier in the season, or perhaps if came in time, we'by BMac - Hockey

Re: Impressions from SLU(t)/Clarkson weekend at Lynah - 18 years ago
As someone in A... It seems like most of our section's lethargic. I'm trying to start a telephone cheer during quiet stoppages in the third, and it works well when the band doesn't go on top. Unfortunately, above us (I'm in row 5, row 6 is great too) nobody really cheers. Rows 6 and down are generally ok, other than the guy who insists on doing the motion for gary glitter backwards. ESPNU Showing college hockey - 18 years ago
So yesterday night I turned on my TV, only to watch the waning minutes of Bemidji State vs. NoDak... In the three minutes I caught, there was the third goal of a hat trick and shortie, both by NoDak. They mentioned that friday they'd show sucks vs. NoDak, but their schedule online doesn't reflect that. However, Saturday at 9:30 they've got Colorado College vs. Denver... sounds like some goodby BMac - Hockey
Re: What The Hell Do I Do? Injustice Maybe? - 18 years ago
Good luck getting your tickets back. Incidentally, since everyone brought this up: I sit in A. Those guys who got sent to the top of the section don't normally sit there and they made the bench ridiculously crowded. My friends and I who normally sit in row 5 of A were quite crowded ourselves- I was kind of glad that those people were sent back up. After all, it is unfair to make season-ticby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 @ Dartmouth 6 (post-game thread) - 18 years ago
When the game went to "commercials," the Darmouth announcers were still audible on the web feed. They were commenting on how they couldn't believe how "lackadaisical" and "slow" Cornell was playing. This kind of seems as if after hahvahd the whole team ate something bad or had a fight in practice or something, and played like hell the next niby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1, at Dartmouth 6 (End 2nd) - 18 years ago
Well, if Schafer's speeches are proportional to goal differential, they're about to hear an earful. All I ask is that they come out swinging next period, turn the light on at least once and (most important) figure out a way to get McKee's confidence back. That's the most important thing. Let's go red.by BMac - Hockey

Re: 4-Point Weekend - 18 years ago
Speaking of BU, this is something I've always wondered, and perhaps you old-timers can put it to rest: When playing BU, what happens during the "screw BU" cheer? "Screw BU...BU too!?" I'm losing sleep over this.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Schafer Suspended One Game - 18 years ago
So, the important question is: how do we deal with this? A huge, extended kill, schafer, kill at the start of the next game? A sign? I think it would be hilarious if showed we supported his conduct en masse.by BMac - Hockey
Re: What I like about being a Big Red fan - 18 years ago
Well, I don't have the same number of years of experience, but you gotta start somewhere. I was a freshman last year, in B (thanks, Oat!), games were often the sole oasis of fun on an otherwise cold, impersonable campus night. In fact, over the summer I realized that I associate "Cornell" with that electric feeling you get when you and 2000 other people suddenly put their hands in the aby BMac - Hockey
Re: hockey line forming - 18 years ago
This was ridiculous. The only place they couldn't have made the line start should have been the EXACT EPICENTER of where hundreds of people were waiting. There was no funnel to make a line, there was no police control. It was very poorly thought out. I was on the right hand side of the line by the metal guardrail and there was a girl literally being crushed between the mob and the rail. A guy pulby BMac - Hockey
Re: 2 days down....4 to go - 18 years ago
It can't be near bartels. Did you see how many people were there when the false alarm went out? It wouldn't make sense. They need somewhere they can funnel people and get some semblance of a line.by BMac - Hockey
