Re: Dartmouth 1 Cornell 3 Final - 15 years ago
We had a 3 minute bend over (seriously. 3 minutes. The whole rink.) in the first and then a big long one before the 5x3. And somebody inexplicably started the infamous "soccer chant" written on this forum last year. I can't tell you how it warmed my heart.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Harvard Post-game - 15 years ago
Now that you mention it, I did have some fun telling some kids not to throw a bottle of toothpaste on the ice after the Colgate game started. There will always be people like that, I'm afraid. I was kind of mean to the couple that decided to come to the Harvard game late and split my buddies and I. Yes, these are your seats. No, you don't get to sit in them. And yes, my first question wasby BMac - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth Post-game - 15 years ago
When was the last time we saw our guys deliver those sorts of hits? Greening had a humongous open ice hit in the first, and Ross was absolutely pounding on guys. Not to belabor the point, but this was the first time I've seen Cornell look like the '04-'05 team since... 04-05. Huge defense, big hits, strong forecheck, great goalie who saw very few overall shots that came in flurries, and an oppby BMac - Hockey

Ushers patrolling the rink for fish-hiders at 3:45pm for a 7pm game.... kinda suck too. Poop.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Signs/ cheers for Hahvahd - 15 years ago
On a related note, the new glass also stopped our ability to storm the ice by jumping over the boards. This means that the last time that students jumped the boards at Lynah was our 2004-2005 clincher against Clarkson, when Topher scored, looked at the crowd, and jumped about 5 feet.by BMac - Hockey

Re: Colgate 2 at Cornell 2 post-game thread - 15 years ago
Crowd report: Awesome. That place was absolutely rocking. We definitely did a job on the conductor ("put some clothes on", the sieve ("Chaaaaaaaaarlie!" and one Mr. Cox. Haven't seen that many toothpaste boxes in a while. All in all, great crowd, considering I was able to buy section A tickets at the gate. What is wrong with people?!?by BMac - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 15 years ago
It's beginning to smell like fishies.... Considering the number of toothpaste boxes we just had, we might be returning to the good old times of fish cascading over the boards.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Lynah East - 15 years ago
The sad thing is that even in the NBA, where you see the player's faces, the attempt to turn the circus crap down a notch has had mixed results. Mark Cuban tried turning off music during games and it didn't work too well. On the other hand, the Lakers' return to using focused lighting on the court, just like ol' days, was a winner (if you can read their awful purple website). Cool pics herby BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 US U18 NDT 3 (final, ot) - 15 years ago
Yeah, I'll agree with ebilmes there. I was pleasantly surprised to see A and B at capacity, though. G and H were quite empty, as was K. F was filled by men and women's b-ball and men's lacrosse, celebrating their successful 07-08 seasons, which was quite nice. Though clearly it was because they had a ton of extra tickets. Finally, has anyone noticed there's no Section I???by BMac - Hockey

amerks, before the thread drifts too far- I absolutely loved your column. Perfect, to the point, authentic... just awesome. If you need any students who are veterans of the line processes of the last few years, I'd be more than happy to back you up.by BMac - Hockey

Thread drift exhibit A: BMacI feel that we don't use the Elynah forum enough as a resource for doing what the Lynah Faithful do best- come up with clever ways to egg our opponents on. Goes to: Dpperk29 I am all for trying to get under the other teams skin and making there experience less than pleasant, but you can do that without being crude/rude/etc... Signs and Cheers for USA Under-18 Dev. Team - 15 years ago
I feel that we don't use the Elynah forum enough as a resource for doing what the Lynah Faithful do best- come up with clever ways to egg our opponents on. In light of the somewhat unique opportunity of facing an under-18 team that isn't another college, let's brainstorm! Other than the staple "You can't buy porn" and "We've had sex," what can we come up with?by BMac - Hockey
Re: New Sign Ideas - 15 years ago
That's lovely. I don't know, they probably wouldn't let you in with it.... the ushers check signs at the entrance. If they let you in, I can't imagine you'd get in trouble if they later make you take it down. If they don't let you in... unless it's really vulgar, they'd probably just take it and let you go on your way. I can't WAIT for Dartmouth- I didn't save the "We Want Grossman"by BMac - Hockey
Re: Harvard Hockey - Trouble in Paradise? - 15 years ago
Although I'm a current Cornell engineering grad student and BS alum, I must say: I have no qualification whatsoever to judge Clarkson's academic merit. That is, other than that I'm an engineering grad student and I have never ever heard of Clarkson other than regarding hockey. Also, I have been applying to top firms and always read the list of schools they recruit in- we're usually on it, witby BMac - Hockey

Tom, The Ultimate teams play behind Reis Tennis Center at fields paid for by the club Rugby teams, cause they have more money than we do. The field space is limited, meaning that we turned away over fifty players this year who wanted to play (and would have formed our C team). Regardless, we DO have field space on campus and have had it for the last 3 years. Prior to that, Shake played at Appeby BMac - Hockey

Hi mha (and others), Does anyone happen to have photos of the home Sucks game of the poster show in Section A right before the game? I'd LOVE to get a good shot from that. Thanks in advance.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Video highlights from Harvard game - 16 years ago
Due to the edumacation efforts of a few eLf regulars, absolutely no non-fish objects were thrown from section A, nor thrown at improper times. Makes me wonder whether we should do this every year.by BMac - Hockey
Re: ECAC Round 1: Post-series Thread - 16 years ago
For the people who weren't there: no, we didn't storm the ice, but we got a pretty damn awesome moment nonetheless. The players skated to the front of section A, grinning like madmen, and saluted the crowd. Then they moved down B, C, all the way down to the townie side. The townies were going nuts- I've never heard them so loud! I reiterate for emphasis: awesome, awesome moment. (Sidenotby BMac - Hockey
Re: Yost - 16 years ago
We did have quite a bit of fun towards the end last night by counting Mike Devine's goals for him, veeeeeeery slooooowly. ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! FIVE! SIX! WE WANT MORE! SIEEEEEEEVE... etc.by BMac - Hockey
Re: ECAC Round 1: Post-series Thread - 16 years ago
Despite the dangerous hits, despite the dumb antics that LaJollaRed mentioned from some of the faithful, this was one of the most fun games I've been to. Probably because it's the last home game of my class (2008)'s undergrad career. If there's two images burned into my mind from the last four years of watching this team, it'll be the ridiculous grin and three-foot jump from Topher when he scoby BMac - Hockey
