Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
Fuck athletics. Why couldn't they just pick the early people? (47) Bastards. Sometimes I hate this school.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Ticket Procedure Posted - 16 years ago
Any reason to believe there's a time that's better to sign up in than others? I vaguely remember them screwing that up as well last year.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Ivy Championships Standings 2006-2007 - 17 years ago
Oh, the Ultimate reference fills my heart with joy... and sadness. The Buds, Cornell's Men's A-team (as opposed to the B team, the Shake) barely missed Nationals again this year by finishing third in our region last weekend. They had been an incredible team all spring, going 29-3 since March before losing two heartbreakers in regionals, the finals and the second place play-in game. The Roseby BMac - Other Sports
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info - 17 years ago
Important Info: The Cornell section is pretty much one-half the rink. The ticket office at Bartels gets a few sections at a time- the guy told me 500 tickets at a time. So, while the section of the rink they've sold out so far kind of sucks (I'm in 119), they will probably be getting better section as time goes by. If it's an option for you, I'd recommend going to Bartels and figuring out wby BMac - Hockey

* Peter Natyshak - Sam Paolini Award, Career Improvement. Ray Sawada * Randy MacFarlane Award, Transcendent Beauty and Skating Prowess. Uh... is there any doubt? Romano. * Dave Shippel - Greg Hornby Award, Scrappiness and Effort. Jared Seminoff. He dives in front of slapshots for breakfast. * Terry Gage Award, Determination in a Supporting Role. * Mike Schafer - Stephen Bâby Award,by BMac - Hockey

Boy, that's the nicest post I've read here. Thanks!by BMac - Hockey
Re: WHY CORNELL WILL NO LONGER DOMINATE THE ECAC - 17 years ago
I think the real shame of this season is that our seniors were nowhere near as excellent as the last two years. We've come to expect a tremendous step-up in skill, consistency and maturity from our seniors, and if we had had that, this season would have a different story. The freshmen were outstanding; the sophomores (especially Kennedy, Mugford, Seminoff and Barlow) and the juniors (which isby BMac - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 17 years ago
I'd agree that the west campus dorms look like prisons, and they could definitely have made the place into Ivy-fairyland by making the new dorms look like the Gothics (soooo expensive)... But as someone who spends their time INSIDE those dorms, i.e. living there the last two years, damn, I love it!by BMac - Hockey
Re: Lynah East and/or Dartmouth Roll Call - 17 years ago
I'll be at Sucks +3 (my first trip!) Unfortunately, can't make DMouth.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame - 17 years ago
For the people saying we gave up too many chances...they're right. Especially shorthanded chances, like when two guys RAN INTO EACH OTHER and left a clarkson player with the puck in our zone during our pp. Could have been very embarrassing. However, we pretty much dominated, so whatever. In fact, despite the extra speed and breakaway goals, it felt eerily like the team of two years ago- big, sby BMac - Hockey
Ammo for SLU(T) - 17 years ago
The classy goons at the SLU(T) team have two facebook groups to which they post: "Hey Phalon.... Tape my Stick!!!!" and "Derek "Soft as Puppy Shit" Keller" Both of which are frequented by the gentleman of the slut team. Looks like Mr. Keller will be hearing some nice things on Saturday. The posts "Keller showed yet again he can not hold his boby BMac - Hockey
Re: Post Game! - 17 years ago
Did anybody else think Ray Sawada was playing real well? Not anything super-awesome, but solid hits and very few mistakes? And who missed that goal opportunity in the second period, when he skated right in front of an empty net? (From Section A, it looked wiiiiide open, like he only needed to twitch the stick to his left.. I'm sure it was just our perspective, though. I think it was Taylor Davby BMac - Hockey
Info on new uniforms (NHL All Star Game) - 17 years ago
ESPN.com has a good article on the new "faster" uniforms, which will be tried out in the NHL tonight at the All-Star Game.by BMac - Hockey
Re: "Top Down" - 17 years ago
I don't want to start a flame war, but after last night's game, and the $300-odd dollars we had to pay for tickets, I'm not really thinking about how I should get there an hour before the game. I expect more from this team.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Syracuse U. to "investigate" hockey at Lynah - 17 years ago
Would hockey at the Carrier Dome set records for indoor hockey? For college? I guess during the FF college teams play in Pro arenas, but very few (none?) NHL arenas can fit 25k.... Who doubts that we could fill the dome once a year? This sounds like a lot of fun. I hope I'm still around in school to see it.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Rink Rat Interview with Byron Bitz - 17 years ago
Don't blame Bitzy too much, though. The interviewer's second question, telling us about how the guy who designed Ingalls also enjoyed the St. Louis Arch, is an interesting bit of info but a completely shitty question.by BMac - Hockey
Re: The administration has gone TOO far - 17 years ago
Agreed, no usher problems this weekend. They didn't even do the "staredown" when I screamed something loud.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6 Union 0 postgame (12/2/06) - 17 years ago
You know, I really think we can reach a higher level of performance (as a crowd) when we're blowing them out. Think of the number of cheers we can use in that case. Great big sieve, good goalie/bad goalie, black hole, embarrassment to X hockey, etc. Even the 9 o'clock on a friday night business, if we have the SO. It's also when we're most likely to get into the sieve's head. It's too bad thatby BMac - Hockey
Poke the sieve - 17 years ago
In the grand tradition of stealing good ideas from other schools when those ideas lead to bothering the sieve even more.... I present Poke the Sieve (Cornell Edition) It's a facebook group (which we should all join) where I'll put up a link to poke the opposing goalie. Thus, right before he plays Cornell, he gets a million bajillion pokes (because we have a million bajillion members), and tby BMac - Hockey
Re: dressing 3 goalies - 17 years ago
We thought that they dressed DiLeo because Davenport's been shaky (ignoring the shutout) and if they put Scrivens in early and he gets shelled, we wouldn't want to put a pulled goalie back in. Kind of convoluted, but Schafer is Schafer. In any case, I think the "he works hard in practice" theory is pretty good.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 17 years ago
Scannon, I agree that they seem less likely to arbitrarily throw us out for loudness, but it's stories like the one of someone following Hooper around and just shouting his name loudly for a reprimand that scare me. Side note: I, and I think everybody else on this forum agree that profanity has no place in Lynah. I'm glad we can agree on that. All we want is the right to be (creatively/sarcastby BMac - Hockey
Re: We want more..... - 17 years ago
As a side note, someone mentioned this "slow sieve cheer" last year, and we in section A did let a few go last year.... to very good effects. We've been looking for a reason to do so this season, but not many have presented themselves.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Separate ushers-vs.-fans game thread? - 17 years ago
As a junior in his third year, sitting in the exact same place as last year (row 6, Section A, on the B-side aisle), yes, it is totally different from last year. I can no longer do my "blunt instrument" routine of being the loudest guy in the section just filling in noise that disturbs their players. EVERY time the puck was on the other side of the ice and we had the goalie to ourseby BMac - Hockey
Re: "Silence in Section A" - 17 years ago
I sit behind RazzBaronZ, and I remarked to him during Dartmouth that I've lost a significant part of my enjoyment for the games: the ability to be obnoxious. I never swear; however, I've had to stop being so loud and annoying because there's an usher next to our row (I'm on the A-B aisle) the ENTIRE GAME, all the time. It's really a killer, because they just STARE at you every time something loudby BMac - Hockey
Re: NYTimes Article about Cornell vs. SUCKS - 17 years ago
Well, I suppose so... not in my particular case, usually, but I understand where you're coming from. I guess to me it's about what you say vs. what you think. Example: I KNOW 100% that we have a better engineering school than, say Harvard. While I would love to act the same way towards a Michigan, I know I'm wrong. Michigan's school is good enough that I can't really say that "we're betteby BMac - Hockey
Re: NYTimes Article about Cornell vs. SUCKS - 17 years ago
It's not basically true, though. It may be true for arts and sciences (which yes, is the biggest school) but for those of us in engineering, or ag, architecture, hum. ec, ilr, or hotel, it's not true at all- we are far better than harvard's program. There is NO engineering school equal or better than us with a comparable hockey team.by BMac - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 @ Yale 2 (End 2nd) - 17 years ago

Re: Cornell 5 RIT 3 - 17 years ago
I would just like to point out that the safety sieve's name is....Jocelyn. Jocelyn Guimond. Of course, as soon as I saw that on the roster (thanks, guy who sits in front of me in A) I had to tell the entire section... JOOOOOOCELYN! JOOOOOCELYN! JOOOOOOCELYN! (I'm glad I didn't get in trouble) LGR!by BMac - Hockey
