Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Feb 2006 - 18 years ago
nshapiroTredway's entry is strange with no games played. Didn't he get called up for a playoff game and never play in the regular season? Per hockeydb.com, Brock played in one playoff game in 1982 for the L.A. Kings but didn't register a point. Our friend needs to update this in TBRW. Kind of like updating the fact that Dan Ratushny, likely the most dominant defenseman in Cornell's history,by RatushnyFan - Hockey

I would want my kid (a mite, not an NHLer) to wear the safest uniform. If the new one is uglier, that's a price I'm more than willing to pay.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Article on McCutcheon - 18 years ago
I've always been confused as to how Brian managed to move forward with his coaching career after what happened from '92-'93 through '94-'95. Seemed like he completely lost the team and recruiting was terrible. Fortunately I graduated in '92 and saw some decent teams (some would say they underperformed relative to their talent level, particularly in '90-'91). That rant aside, Brian seems liby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Feb 2006 - 18 years ago
RitaDo you mean Cornell defensemen? Sorry, yes, I meant the d-men only. I've seen Joe play quite a bit. To Rita's list we'd have to add Pelletier, Lenny, Ryan Hughes, etc. Haven't had many d-men in the NHL though that I can see.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Feb 2006 - 18 years ago
Cool, he was also +2 and played 15 minutes. He is now tied with Dan Ratushny with 1 NHL point (though Dan accomplished the feat in 1 game). Actually, if I'm not mistaken, Doug and Dan are the only Cornell players to suit up in the NHL??????? Perhaps I'm missing someone from the 60's or 70's but I can't find it on hockeydb.com.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Feb 2006 - 18 years ago
Doug Murray's icetime has headed further south. Other SJ defensemen without tons of NHL experience are getting more icetime. Not sure if this is due to his speed (Comrie got by him in the Phoenix game which led to a score) or perceived lack of offense (at least so far). Here's the recent trends: Feb 1st (SJ wins 6-4 vs. Anaheim) Doug Murray 9:25 (26 NHL career games) J. Gorges 19:22 (20 Nby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Coyotes Trade Boucher - 18 years ago
calgARI '07He will be there very soon. Sauve is utterly worthless and probably the worst goalie in the NHL and as a Flames fan am turning cartwheels that he's done. When Phoenix is out of the playoff race at the deadline, I think Joseph will be moved to one of the teams looking for a goaltender (Edmonton, Vancouver, Colorado, Toronto). Either way, LeNeveu is already ahead of Sauve on the depthby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Chris '03http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=153298&hubname= Phoenix gets Steven Reinprecht and struggling goalie Phillipe Sauve in return from Calgary, which could open the door for Lenny to be back at the NHL level soon. Canucks announcers Tuesday night said that Phoenix management raved about Lenny (the announcers butchered his name pretty badly!!). I think you're right as Sauve doesn't lby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Liz '05I'm a big fan. Grammatical (and sometimes spelling) mistakes distract me from the content of whatever I'm reading, to the point where I can't critique the content. I've had to copy something grammatically hideous so I can play English teacher, get all my grammar nazi tendencies out of the way, toss it, then figure out all the underlying problems with the essay/report/whatever. I'm guessing there are a few Strunk & White fans on this board. I don't know how many of you readers are among the working class, but it's a pretty ugly grammatical world out there. If you take offense at what you see on this board, it's going to be hard to interact with the masses.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

TrotskyTeam rankings for all Cornell games since 2002-03: 2003: 2004: 2005: 2006: Is there a way to go back further and aggregate the result vs. #1, vs. top 5, vs. top 10? Would be interesting to see. I'm sure that you have a day job other than TBRW, just asking.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: cornell vs #1 - 18 years ago
Chris 02Wasn't Vermont ranked #1 a while in 96 or 97? I recall that was early season until RPI beat them. Vermont was briefly #1 when Michigan lost early in the season to Michigan State at Munn. Didn't last too long as I recall.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: cornell vs #1 - 18 years ago
cbuckserWhat about Michigan on January 7, 1997 (a 3-3 tie at Yost)? I think, but I am not sure, that the Wolverines were ranked #1 at the time. Yes, Michigan was #1 at the time. Good game, I was there as a Michigan MBA student. I took a little heat for wearing my Cornell hockey hat.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: "Take that you stinking Badgers" - 18 years ago
When their clear #1 goalie/Hobey candidate Brian Elliot comes back in mid to late February (last I heard), they should bounce back. They absolutely owned the WCHA until he got hurt which was very impressive (13-1-2 through mid January in WCHA, also 4-0 Michigin, Michigan State, West Michigan, Northern Michigan).by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: US Olympians - 18 years ago
Yes, you will always have game 7. Not sure how long that will keep you warm but hopefully a bit longer. I like both Todd and Willie. I don't view a little goonery as an entirely negative thing. If I was a professional hockey player, I would be a bit of a goon. I can relate to them.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Tub(a)He is indeed a pussy that "scored" a goal that never happened in the Stanley Cup. He can rot in hockey hell for all I care. Joey was on Dallas, too. Dallas was going to win in any event. Sorry.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: US Olympians - 18 years ago
ajec1While I am unfamiliar with NCAA Willie Mitchell, NHL Willie Mitchell (aside from being on my favorite squad, the Minnesota Wild) is a leader on and off the ice (in addition to being freakin hilarious to listen on his weekly interviews on sports radio). In my experience, he is not even close to being goonish on the ice. The Wild could use a goon, in fact, as no one seems to want to rough it uby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: US Olympians - 18 years ago
Rich SThat's more than folks on this board said a few years back when Willie Mitchell of Clarkson was being called a "goon." He's had a pretty decent career so far but most measures. Willie Mitchell is still at least somewhat of a goon today in my view. Seen him play plenty. Not so much so that he hurts the game or is a disgrace, but he's got some goon in him.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: goons - 18 years ago
RichS Who recruited that goon O' Bryne? See how easy it is to mislabel someone? Good point. The real issue is that he coughed up the puck in the MN game.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

calgARI '07My first every game in Calgary was the triple OT Game 6 where the Flames came back from 4-0 before Morrison won it in the third OT. Part of the difference is goaltending, but the Flames have a much stronger blueline top-to-bottom as well. I'd still say Vancouver has a stronger group up front though. Good to see some Northwest fans on this board. Goaltending is massive Calgary advantby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: This Week's Column Up - 18 years ago
calgARI '07 Huge Flames fan here........watch every game, including the four games the Flames have owned the Canucks. I agree that the Northwest Division is "the shizzle" though. You do own us this year ...... but you're still having problems with Brendan Morrison in OT. Did my graduate work at Michigan and got to see him win a national championship and a Hobey. Didn't suck. Re: This Week's Column Up - 18 years ago
I saw an interview with Anson Carter where he described his success with the Sedins. He said that he told the Sedins "not to worry about him" and "just do your thing". He recognizes that they have a stronger connection together than he'll ever have with them so he focuses on going to the net and just getting garbage goals. I haven't seen the Abbotts too much, but the Sedinsby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Dave McKee - 18 years ago
Interesting to me that D'Alessio is #1 in minutes. He split time with Jim Crozier his junior year, with Crozier getting the start in the ECAC semifinal loss versus SLU as I recall (and in other key games). I assume he was in net for most of the series versus Michigan in the NCAA's (after LK hoodwinked the selection committee). Crozier also played a lot Corrie's senior year. Re: Iggulden Signed by SJ - 18 years ago
Not clear if this means he was called up, too? Perhaps my reading comprehension is failing me in my 30's and this is implied in the first sentence. If so, it will be nice to see him play alongside of Doug. Doug's minutes seem to be slipping a little bit but I haven't read anything negative about his play.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
