David HardingI certainly wouldn't want a broken piece of my own visor putting my eye out. If a visor breaks with a punch, how's it supposed to stop a puck traveling 85-100 mph? It would more likely hurt the hand of the puncher. If you're going to engage in a fight, take your helmet off.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

jmh30To be fair, Newark is a LOT easier to get to than the Meadowlands (which is famously inaccessible by public transportation). I still maintain that nobody gives a crap about the Devils, but I don't think moving to Newark will hurt their (piss poor) attendance any. I will be going to fewer games once they're in Newark. Most of us in NJ have cars. It sucks driving to Newark vs. the Meadowlanby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: USA hockey numbers - 18 years ago
CowbellGuyMichaelHas anyone seen a list of whose wearing what number for the US Olympic hockey team. I'm going to be getting a jersey and I wanted to know what number Gionta will be. -Mike- Making sure you don't get his by accident? I've never liked Gionta - until this year. He's getting a ton of scoring chances. I didn't like him at BC but he's maturing into a good NHL player. About the onlyby RatushnyFan - Hockey

The SportsCenter clip showed Doan skated over to Dougie who immediately pushed him on his back. Doan threw a punch while on his back that hit Dougie but he was sitting on top of him and about to pound him. The refs skated in and held him back since Doan was in a very vulnerable position. By the way, Melrose's quote when showing the best hit of the night was too funny: "Vladislov Nagy cby RatushnyFan - Hockey

So it's the first since Lenny in '02 and prior to that Ryan Hughes in '92 and Manderville/Ratushny in both '90-'91 (The Big Red What refuses to list Ratushny even though I've emailed them........a travesty!!). Great news for Cornell and Sasha. Have we ever had a player close to making the U.S. world junior team?by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Joe couldn't be more different than Doug as a player. Last night at the end of the Stars game (they lost 4-3, Dallas scored with about 15 secs left), Gary Roberts went flying into the offensive zone with about 5 seconds and just about checked a Stars player through the boards (looked like at was from behind) right at the end of game buzzer. A fracas of course ensues and Joe kind of stands thereby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
We've lost to Union at home more than I would have thought, but not recently........'92, '94 and '98. I saw the '92 game and it was a big deal because we hadn't lost to them yet as a D1 team - that may have even been their first year in the conference but we were awful that year despite Paris Duffus' best efforts. I'm amazed that we lost at Lynah to them, their record is inflated. Who cares abby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Coyotes Web site said that CuJo has been named the official starter. Lenny will back him up until Boucher is back. Expectation is that he will be sent down at that point. Maybe he'll get the chance to at least get in a couple of starts and do a good job.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Stupid McKee Question - 18 years ago
Why wasn't McKee ever drafted? I read in some board (seemed to be part speculation) that he didn't even "register" for the draft the year that he was eligible. I've only seen him play a couple of times, but obviously he looked pretty sharp. Is he considered a legitimate pro prospect? He seems tall enough for the pros and his positioning is excellent. Ah, the next Jason Elliot for Detroit.........although he's bigger and a 2nd round pick. Wish him the best, he looks good. It's a little sad to see all these significant, late in the summer losses for many college hockey programs. Not surprising though.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
