Re: How Does Yale Spell "Relief"? - 18 years ago
Joe doesn't have it in him to yell at the refs. He likes Ithaca but does that mean he wants to be Cornell's coach? Did I mention that Casey Jones coached my PE hockey team at Cornell in '92? Most enjoyable class I took. I got skillz.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

nyc94Get SC Johnson to donate the corporate jet again (I think it was '02 that they used the jet to ferry recruiters to the Johnson school).I've actually been on one of their planes (as a Michigan MBA)! Weird feeling, it was me and maybe three other kids. I didn't take the job. The jack in i-banking is too hard to turn down. Racine is kind of an interesting town, though.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: How Does Yale Spell "Relief"? - 18 years ago
I second the Casey Jones suggestion, although I wonder if OSU's disappointing season will impact his chances. We'll see Casey in Ithaca if he sticks with it and waits another 10+ years for Schafer to win a couple of national championships. I have to admit I was surprised given Yale's record the last 10 seasons or so that Taylor was seemingly never under pressure. The guy went to one NCAA touby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Johnson Stays At Michigan - 18 years ago
Despite his offensive stats, Johnson clearly hurt Michigan at times with poorly timed penalties, going out of his way to make big hits that led to odd man rushes, etc. He has the physical talent, but emotionally he's immature. No way he would go right to the NHL, he would hurt the team. The kid loves Michigan so why not stick around Ann Arbor (I went to Michigan to get my MBA, Yost is the secoby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: 2006-7 Schedule - 18 years ago
I wonder if some of the second tier Hockey East teams (no disrespect intended) would be reasonable candidates to beef up schedule strength at least somewhat. Vermont? Mass-Lowell (most years, not always)? Providence? Schafer worked with Colgate's coach, right? I think it's more exciting when you play different teams each night, so maybe partnering with them is a possibility down the line. Tby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Speed - 18 years ago
I thought we looked better than did versus MN last year..........and that CC game was a really hard working victory. To play that hard two games in a row and skate that well was great to see. How lucky are we?by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - March 2006 - 18 years ago
Great job Lenny. Doug Murray has been a healthy scratch the last four games with San Jose. Coach Wilson has indicated that Matt Carle is going to get a couple of starts on their current road trip so Doug may not be in the lineup for a while. It is now official that rookie Josh Gorges is clearly a step ahead of Doug unless his prior injury is lingering (he's been termed a "healthy scratch&by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: ECACHL Officials - 18 years ago
If Schafer got into a shouting match, even if he was the aggressor, I still think that the officials AND bureaucrats shouldn't let it drag on and on. At some point, they should walk away. And if Schafer is out of line, give him a penalty. Can't they give him an abuse of official penalty between periods? If what was detailed in the USCHO message board really happened, it's ridiculous that it eby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Positives From the Albany Weekend - 18 years ago
I enjoyed meeting some of the current members of the team, joking with them about how tired Colgate looked vs. Dartmouth, witnessing Topher come up to my kids and give them high fives, etc. Also, win or lose, watching Cornell hockey is about the most exciting thing around. From a historical perspective, we all witnessed the most dominating performance by a team in the ECAC tourney from a statby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Dan Fridgen has resigned from RPI - 18 years ago
ugarteRatushnyFanI enjoyed watching Juneau play for RPII don't know if "enjoyed" is the right word for it. I sure as hell respected it but I didn't enjoy it at all. I also didn't enjoy watching Bruce Coles lay people out but I respected him quite a bit as well. Because I was afraid. Re: Pepsi Arena - barely occupied for ECACs? - 18 years ago
billhowardRatushnyFanI vote for Boston........had a blast watching both tourneys (ECAC and Hockey East) back in the Gahden in the early '90's (don't know if this would be feasible anymore given stronger ticket demand from the Hockey East). Consider the travel distances for the teams: - Harvard. The SOBs gets to sleep in their own beds. - Dartmouth. They'd be happy. - Cornell, 375 miles. - Coby RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Dan Fridgen has resigned from RPI - 18 years ago
I enjoyed watching Junea play for RPI (I overlapped at Cornell for 3 of his 4 years)...... he was a great player. What's he doing these days? It looks like he accepted a job in his hometown. From what he's said on a few occasions, I thought he wanted to be an engineer so that he could get a job after hockey.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Al DeFlorioThanks!! Here's the Fox Sports North schedule page: Looks like a MN Wild game is scheduled for 8 pm. I wonder what FoxSports' obligation is if the NCAA game goes to OT but the Wild game is starting?by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Harvard ECAC title post-game thread - 18 years ago
abmarks1) Either Harvard was more disciplined, or we were over-amped. A number of penalties we took were just plain stupid or a result of trying to go out and hit no matter what the cost. (See Pegararo's hitting from behind/interference penalty right in front of the assistant ref. Brutally obvious, and not thinking.) Bingo. We had zero poise in the first period. Al DeFloriojy3 story at cornellbigred.com From the story: "Cornell is set to compete in its fourth NCAA tournament in five years and fifth of head coach Mike Schafer's tenure." Ummmm...didn't we go in both '96 and '97? Yep. Those were good years. LSSU might have been a frozen four team in '96 (hand pass) and we played them pretty tough. Saw both games in person in '97. Doug Murray hasn't played the last two games. SFGate indicated that versus the Avalanche (last night) he was a healthy scratch. Matt Carle, my vote for Hobey (Denver) just signed with the Sharks and is with the team.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Who is rooting for Harvard now? - 18 years ago
Harvard is out of goals. Their 3 fans at the game tomorrow (down from 6 today, a few got lost) won't make a peep. Let them be, it's bad enough having to go to Harvard.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Post Game Thread - 18 years ago
That was a pretty physical game - Colgate outhit us and we were pretty physical. Harvard gets more rest with the earlier game and with the blowout - their top players will be more rested. BUT THE HELL WITH IT!! THEY'RE FRESH OUT OF GOALS!! We're going to win...... Moulson between periods said he saw the Lynah Middle East sign. Props to the sign dude.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Jersey Question - 18 years ago
kroseI'm going to talk to Bill Reynolds after the season is over and see if he would be willing to (and is able to) order extra sweaters when the team makes their order. Cool. Let me know. Re: Albany roll call!! - 18 years ago
I'll be going on Saturday only ........... haven't been to the ECAC's since '92 when it was in Boston. This time, I'll have some sidekicks, too - a wife and 3 kids!! They're pretty excited. My wife has been to some Cornell NCAA tourney games with me but the kids have never seen Cornell play.
