Re: North country online video - 15 years ago
sah67dbilmessah67 As usual, you'll have to wait until a minute or two before (or sometimes after) game time for the link to become active and allow you to purchase a single game subscription. How much does it usually cost? The RPI game was $7 if I remember correctly. But I only see links for "multiple event passes". Clicking on it only gives you the option to buy season passes. Re: Interesting Goalie Pad Concept - 15 years ago
Feh. Put big old crosshairs or a bull's eye target on the pads instead and watch goal-oriented shooters instinctively work to hit those marks.by DL - Other Sports
Re: "bullshit" and "asshole" chants - 15 years ago
BeeeejWilly '06OatIt used to be just "I'm blind, I'm deaf, I wanna be a ref" and "A rope, a tree, hang the referee." Those were the only two anti-ref cheers, that was it. You must be forgetting "The ref beats his wife! The ref beats his wife!" And "The ref <CENSORED> sheep." ...which occasionally morphed into "The ref beats his sheep."by DL - Hockey

OmieBC trumps Hahvahd 5-1 Princeton beats Northeastern 5-3 Union defeats Army 5-4 Clarkson gives up the lead to loose 4-3 to Canisius in OT RPI looses to Mercyhurst 4-1 SLUt defeats UMass 4-3 Dartmouth defeats Providence 4-2 I'd like to think that Cornell students, if not necessarily all the dwindling numbers of our fans watching national TV, can learn the difference between loose and losby DL - Hockey
Re: Report? - 16 years ago
Dpperk29ugarteRichHI miss the hokiness of the old torch logo: Bleh. Looks like it was designed at Clarkson. that logo has just the right ratio of Green and Gold:Red and White I'd say the same about the new logo.by DL - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth AD apology - 17 years ago
North Dakota may not have a team called The Asians, but (as was mentioned earlier) another ND school does have a fighting race as a mascot. But i guess that's ok, because we all know that the Irish are savages like bears and sharks.by DL - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth AD apology - 17 years ago
TimVNot me. I actually kinda like "Honky". "Cracker" I don't really understand. "Paleface" might be good. I like Paleface. But where the heck does Honky come from, anyway?by DL - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth AD apology - 17 years ago
Ok, so I think Dartmouth should start calling their teams the Roundeyes. Does that bother anybody here?by DL - Hockey
Re: All-Access catalog of woes - 17 years ago
I understand that this thread should really be a cataloguing of specific dates and times of specific problems with the basic delivery of an otherwise "premium" service. However, I think it is worth pointing out for the record how unfair it is that customers should pay a monthly and not only fail to receive said basic delivery, but also be forced to watch advertisements that are, per thby DL - Hockey

any chance of someone at least capturing JUST the play leading up to and including Kennedy's GWG?by DL - Hockey
Re: Harvard 2 @ Cornell 3 postgame thread (11/10/06) - 17 years ago
billhowardDafatoneStrange, I feel like I disagree with all the comments. I thought Davenport was great in goal, both goals he had no chance on. Greening and Carefoot both played a lot and played well. Our new fast-paced offense just wasn't getting the job done, so we went to a bit of a dump and chase and that worked better toward the end. Davenport does have some trouble handling the puckby DL - Hockey
Re: Harvard 2 @ Cornell 3 postgame thread (11/10/06) - 17 years ago
Thanks to Tom for pointing me to Max-TV. It was more than choppy out here in the Far East, it finally started coming in just as Du did his little one-timer that suckered Davenport, AND I didn't get to see the full results of Kennedy's breakaway, but we won and that's what matters, w00t!!!!!! Re: Noel's take on Fish - 17 years ago
Is it remotely possible that the lunacy coming from Noel is actually not so much his fault as it is part of his job, part of some more ridiculous doctrine handed down from much higher up? It certainly would suck if his job depended on being an asshole, then being called for it by hundreds of fans, right on national TV. Of course, I don't know the man, so maybe he's just PC-whipped...by DL - Hockey

Cute quote from Teddy on USCHO, looking forward to this weekend's game: "Lynah has always been kind of a witches cauldron," said the coach bemusedly.by DL - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5 RIT 3 - 17 years ago
jy3well, more goals that most would have liked to have given up but a win is a win. lets go red! off to the tropics I'd be happy with more goals against us, so long as our offense follows suit. Having our reputation as a netminder institution is fine and good, but if we can just gain a reputation for firepower...by DL - Hockey

Fab. And I think this is actually closer to Carnelian red than RPI red, anyhow.by DL - Hockey
Re: New Forum Design - 17 years ago
It definitely makes sense to professionalize the look of the forum. On that front the execution is done well and plausibly useful for at-work readers. This is, however, a largely Cornell athletics forum, right? How about we steer from the limp colors and bring back a bit more bold, in-your-face starkness? I notice that the website icon is still hotdog condiment-colored, which is comfortingby DL - Hockey
Re: List of current Pros - 17 years ago
Underhill is now a high school teacher in Boston. There are a couple links to articles about the Kelly Cup Finals and how the Alaska Aces' new goalie duo have, "large pads to fill." Unfortunately, the Anchorage Daily News is one of those login-required sites, though I was able to read them once through before being blocked.by DL - Hockey
Re: BU outlaws swearing in stands - 17 years ago
billhowardDarren LeungAnd here I was thinking this thread was about outlaws from BU who were swearing in the stands. You'd perhaps have trouble with headlines such as "Prostitutes Appeal to Pontiff." Nope. No trouble at all.by DL - Hockey

Though they lost, it's still just preseason and nice to see Lenny handle his ice time better than Sauve, whom the coyotes website seems to have more to talk about.by DL - Hockey
Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
So how about a scavenger hunt with a point system? Big Bonus Points for each year you'd gotten season tickets prior. Maybe set aside section G tickets for weekly challenges, just to keep things rolling through the season.by DL - Hockey
Re: A look into the future? - 17 years ago
In defense of a totally OT and pointless post, I think the change was actually in the mid 90's. And I sure don't remember seeing that particular run-in of letters flaunted so flagrantly, especially considering 'web surfing' back in that day was more like poking around in the dark.by DL - Hockey
Re: A look into the future? - 17 years ago
This is probably old and stale stuff, but I hadn't been back to campus in years. When I came back for reunion, I saw this stuck on all the cop cars: www.cupolice.cornell.edu Cup O Lice. On every car. That's so beautiful, it brought a tear to my eye. I guess if you don't have Pubic Safety, you may well wind up with a cup o' lice.by DL - Hockey
Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
I'd always thought having the Sun post surprise notices about ticket sales was way more interesting. It would be even better to scatter ticket sales on an unpatterned daily basis, forcing buyers to go to all kinds of obscure parts of the campus to snag one or two of maybe a couple dozen priority numbers. An Amazing Race system would be far too much work, but would sure be a lot more fun. Oby DL - Hockey
Re: Out of town scores: Playoffs - 18 years ago
jmh30Thank you for continuing to prove that you missed the point. but what seems inexplicably missed is him very nearly saying it, albeit about the years from "the last couple of a previous coach's tenure. (smiley)"by DL - Hockey
Re: Predict the polls - 18 years ago
ebilmesDarren LeungFrankly, I'm just glad that our lack of front-page attention on USCHO has carried over into these past few games of woe. I could have sworn we were the lead article after the Dartmouth win. If that's the case, then I stand corrected (my connection went down during the 3rd period of that game and was out for 2 days) and am even more grateful that they chose an upbeat articleby DL - Hockey
