Re: Harvard at Cornell post-game thread - 18 years ago
RichHFrom my vantage point in Section O, my immediate reaction was that it didn't completely cross the line, but if Darren's analysis is correct that it bounced off an H player and in after being swept from the line (he had the benefit of TV), then I feel better knowing that we didn't get away with something. Order of what I focused on: Puck on line (not over), being swept out flurry of boby DL - Hockey

ebilmesFrom Adam Wodon at CHN got credit for one of the biggest phantom goals in hockey history. Folks, I was standing right there in the corner by the Harvard goal, along the goal line, and the puck wasn't close to going in. The CSTV replay made it seem much closer... Adam should take another look at that replay, a split second after the disputed couple of frames before making that kindby DL - Hockey

Jim Hylanr53I'd see naming seats as a segway to actually having seats instead of benches. I'm not sure about the rest of you ( ) but comfort be damned! I like my benchesThere's not room enough for seats. Check out Section C. However I do like the idea of a nameplate on the bench. Segway(TM)'s are involved in this?by DL - Hockey

Al DeFlorioDeltaOne81Hmmm, wish I'd remember to record it. Am I nuts or did they show a brief snippet of Dan Lodboa scoring against Clarkson in the 1970 national championship game? That would have been reason enough to have wanted to record it. I'd pay good bucks for a tape/DVD of that game. They sure did, Al. It was incredibly poor quality, and lasted all of about 2 seconds. DeltaOne81las224But goals generally boost our morale and deflate theirs to give us the advantage, so we might even have scored another goal in regulation and won. Disappointing. Of course, there's a good question as to whether we actually scored that third one at all. Not that it matters in the end. It's moot, too be sure, but it looked to me like what the goal judge saw wasn't the is-the-puby DL - Hockey

KeithKCan we please stop jumping on every little perceived slight in Rich's posts? Yes, he sometimes writes inflammatory things. The post you're criticizing was not. Actually, I rather find these volleys quite amusing, now that no one seems to be willing to take Facetimer's occasional baiting.by DL - Hockey

Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
To hell with renovations, for the money involved, why not outfit the rink with High Definition cameras in all the usual areas, start a course in media studies that would have students run a weekend sports program out of Lynah, set up lounges in key spots around the campus for viewing by those not fortunate enough to attend, then offer the feed for sale to the likes of CSTV, et al.? It's a clean hit, I'll admit. Watching and focusing on the off-ice replay in slow motion can be a bit deceiving, so no, I don't agree with how 'clear' it was. Thanks for that crucial anatomy lesson all the same.by DL - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Dec 2005 - 18 years ago
Naturally, each team has its own take on the encounter: SanJose: "Murray laid out Ladislav Nagy along the boards, causing Shane Doan to shove Murray, resulting in a brief scrap. Murray dropped the gloves and unstrapped his helmet as Doan charged him, but the big defenseman sent him immediately to the ice." Phoenix: "Ladislav Nagy was deliberately elbowed in the head by Sanby DL - Hockey

Re: sun article on hockey fans - 18 years ago
Frankly, the only thing the article has proved to me, and only indirectly by way of the consequent messageboard-bashing, is that I am desperate to read something (preferably in this very forum) about our team any time they're not playing. If wanting to virtually congregate with fellow Cornellians in lieu of actual attendance at Lynah makes me a loser, too, then so be it. Let's Go Redby DL - Hockey

Wouldn't it be a wonderful public service if the students were to provide the little kiddies and their hyper-sensitive parents a little flyer at the beginning of each game that spelled out in offical manner exactly what the students were saying? Shining examples, "See ya, asphalt... You loon!" "rough 'em up (etc.)" "Hey so-and-so, your mom called. She said, '2 ducby DL - Hockey

USCHO Weekly Column - 18 years ago
A question for those in the know: Is there any logical reason why the ECACHL column is inevitably the last to show up? It doesn't seem to depend on the journalists, as the same thing happens year after year. Yeah, it's been discussed before, but by the time I wake up (GMT+8 over here), our guys should be in the middle of what I hope to be a great game, and I'd really rather read somethinby DL - Hockey
Re: 3/27 3:30P: West Final in Richmond, VA - 19 years ago
Thank goodness for DirecTV. I caught the latter two-thirds of the game on ALT, then went back to watch the tape-delay on ESPNU. For the record, ESPNU's feed quality SUCKS. Looked like they had vaseline smeared on the lenses. ALT was crystal-clear, and didn't have that damned ticker running at the bottom.
