Re: polls 1/30 - 18 years ago
TrustnduztThe way I tend to look at poll rankings (however naive it is) is to see if we could beat the teams that are below us in ranking. Frankly, at #5 I don't think we could take half the teams below us right now. I know it may not be a popular sentiment on this board, since we have this collective tendency to worry like tiny grandmothers over our team, but why not? Realistically, we have vby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Time For Some New Lines - 18 years ago
McCutcheon is actually a regular on the second powerplay unit. I have to admit that I hadn't noticed him out there regularly. Any fatigue factor this has, hypothetically speaking (I'm not suggesting his duties would make him more fatigued relative to the other players), would work against placing him on the desperation offense line. True dat. "McCutcheon and Carefoot with Pegoraroby Scersk '97 - Hockey

redhair34 If I had to send out a "score a goal in the waning minutes of the 3rd period" line it would be Abbott-Abbott-Moulson. I'd let Chris and Cam go nuts with Moulson lurking around. If the defense concentrated on Moulson I think the brothers could take advantage. Also, I like the idea of Chris and Cam leading a rush with Moulson trailing looking for rebounds. Or why not Abbottby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame thread (2/21/06) - 18 years ago
Jim Hyla One thing I liked about their pp was when there was a scrum in front, sometimes they passed the puck out to the blueline for a hard shot, rather than always just trying to bang it in. To my eye it looked more like a skip pass across the crease, after a quick pass to a defenseman that had already crowded towards the goal, but I was thinking the same thing. Sometimes it's just impossiblby Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: SLU @ UVM Final - 18 years ago
I was thinking... Vermont : Colgate :: Hockey East : ECAC(HL), according to KRACH, but this year it certainly looks like top of HE = top of ECAC(HL), which is certainly better than usual. Overall, it certainly seems like: CCHA > WCHA > ECAC > HE, where the differences are very small. On inspecting KRACH for a bit, the average* KRACH rating shows: WCHA ~ CCHA > HE ~ ECAC and median: CCHA ~ WCHA ~ HE >> ECAC by KRACH rank, it's: CCHA > WCHA > HE > ECAC and by KRACH median rank, it's: CCHA > WCHA > HE > ECAC The telling problem is that, while the bottoms of the four leagues are pretty equal in rating (Michigan Tech 43.78 ~ Princby Scersk '97 - Hockey

However indelicately he may have presented his viewpoint, Rich is right. I'm a big West Wing fan, but one can't assume that the eLF is populated with West Wing fans. Basically, you should run your topic by a checklist of sorts before you post: Does your topic regard: 1) Cornell hockey? Fire away. 2) ECAC hockey? Re: Union 2 @ Cornell 1 (postgame thread 11/18/05) - 18 years ago
It seems to me as if the second goal wasn't O'Bryne. From how I see it: 1) O'Byrne has trouble behind his own net, which happens. 2) Tries to pass it to Davenport. 3) Davenport, inexplicably, tries to bring it out in front of the net and bobbles. 4) The Union player scores before McKee can even react. Re: [OT] Joe's Restaurant Reopening - 18 years ago
I'm a Lansing boy, so it was kind of my hometown Italian restaurant: never liked the Coddington or Lucatelli's too much; Rosetti's was pretty good, but it closed; Franco's was good but a more recent development. So, in the land of limited-but-not-bad-choices, Joe's was always my favorite.by Scersk '97 - John Spencer Is Dead
