Quote from: George64And now a logo "drawn at a 29 degree angle as an homage to New York City's wonky grid."  How esoteric.
How exactly is NYC's grid wonky?
As everyone knows, the Avenues run N/S and the streets run E/W. Consider, for example, the corner of West 4th St. and West 10th St.

Never noticed that before.  But still, that's the village, which predates the grid.  The part os the city that was actually planned is wonderfully regular.  Broadway below 79th is the only real exception (again, predating the planned grid).
I think what they really mean by "wonky grid" is that manhattan isn't actually on the north/south axis. I haven't measured it myself but I'll bet Manhattan is "at a 29 degree angle".

I don't think so.  Look at the picture in the story George64 posted with the Cornell Tech logo drawn in "neon lights" over top of the NYC satellite image - they're pretty clearly referencing the pattern they see in the streets, not the angle of the island itself.

Let's Go RED!

Ugarte is correct.  The graphic artist took considerable license.  The top of the T aligns with 23rd Street, but nothing else aligns with much of anything.  Park Avenue (perpendicular to 23rd) appears to be 29 degrees from true north.

Dude. Dude. The angle of the streets aligns (roughly) with the rivers to the east and west. That's what I mean when I say that the island is "at an angle".

Thanks, George.

Here's a challenge - why don't New York City area alumni and students mobilize and participate in the 08.23.15 NYC 5k on Roosevelt Island.  How great it would be to see the field dominated by a sea of Red as construction of Cornell Tech progresses!

That would be cool, although it would probably be a sea of red bringing up the rear.  :)

Big Red stuns Stanford and now bests Yale!  Big edge in patents, citations and alumni employment carried the day.

Cornell is building one of the greenest high-rises in the world.  Good article in The Atlantic.

The old college try.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."
