Re: Going to Union/RPI? - 19 years ago
Reasonably good chance we're going to RPI, though not certain yet. Just called their box office and was assured there would be tix. I know one always has to take that kind of info with a grain of salt, but given their record this year, I'm inclined to trust the folks who've posted that it won't be a problem getting in. Hope to see the gang tomorrow. LGR!! Killerby Killer - Hockey
Going to Union/RPI? - 19 years ago
Who's heading to the Albany area this coming weekend for the Uinion and RPI games? I haven't made any decision yet, and it might be tough sell for my wife, but it's something to consider. And I hate having the memory of the Harvard game as my last in-person experience until the playoffs. I seem to recall having no problem getting tix last year. Anyone know if that's to be expected this yeby Killer - Hockey

Heading out into the drek to get some food in Harvard Square (Bartley's?) and then watch the boys stomp Sucks. LGR!!! Killerby Killer - Hockey
Re: D'Alba for real? - 19 years ago
Hopefully, a few more games, at the very least. BTW, in the only game in which he gave up 3, 2 were PPGs. Let's hope the boys can light him up a bit more this weekend. Christmas isn't that far behind us. I could do with seeing a few more flashing red lights.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Ithaca to Providence Directions - 19 years ago
Mike, I think 90 minutes may be a pretty good estimate, but a lot will depend on traffic. Heading south from Boston can get really nasty on a Friday afternoon (having made the trip often to visit the in-laws south of Providence). The earlier you can get on the road, the better. We've opted to get rolling around 4:00 from west of Boston and try to meet friends in Providence for an early dinner.by Killer - Hockey
D'Alba for real? - 19 years ago
I was just looking at the stats for Brown. Since D'Alba took over in net, it looks like they're 6-0-1. The kid has a 1.39 GAA and a .956 SV%. Not too shabby. Has anyone seen him play and can offer some insight as to how good he really is? With Rowan apparently having found Martin and gone back to Laugh In, we may be hard-pressed to repeat anything on the scale of the 7-2 pasting we gave thby Killer - Hockey
Re: La Tourelle (OT) - 19 years ago
The restaurant is now John Thomas' Steakhouse. A bit pricey, but excellent food. BTW, it used to be Auberge du Cochon Rouge (probably should check my French dictionary for the correct spelling): Inn of the Red Pig. You'd only go there when your parents were in town and treating.by Killer - Hockey
Re: CU at Lynah East?? - 19 years ago
We'll be at both games as well. Scored 6 for Lynah East by calling repeatedly as soon as the phone lines opened. Can't remember what section we're in, but I think we're in the corner between the Bid Red and Sucks bands. Brown tix were a lot easier to get, so we snagged 8 for that one. LGR!!!by Killer - Hockey

Re: Harvard vs Northern Michigan - 19 years ago
I just put it on the radio a few minutes ago. Sounds like a lot of action, but no goals. Harvard dodged a pair of 2-on-1 breaks moments ago. I think I heard them say that the SOG stat was something like 35-31 NM. 1:15 to go.by Killer - Hockey
Harvard vs NM, NM wins Shootout 3-2 - 19 years ago
Just heard that with 7:00 left in the game it's 0-0. Edit 1: Regulation just ended. Still zip. Edit 2: Going to a shootout. Edit 3: 1st NM shot hit crossbar. 1st H shot hit post. Arrgghh! Edit 4: 2-2 after 4 shots Edit 5: 2-2 after 5 shots Edit 6: 3-2 NM on 6th shotby Killer - Hockey
Re: Yanks acquire Big Unit; sucks to be a Sox fan right now - 19 years ago
Not sure what you mean about "right now". Doesn't it always suck to be a Sox fan? Still, I do enjoy living in Bost-One-and-Done (or at least reasonably close). Go Pats!by Killer - Hockey
Re: Which section which at lynah east? - 19 years ago
Just checked my tix. We're in section 13. I think that's in the corner, 1 section over from our band.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Harvard bursts Vermont's bubble - 19 years ago
IMHO they were beat up. The game I watched was close only in score. Had it not been for Hyphen, that one could have gone down as 6-0. We outshot them 34-17, IIRC. Harvard had trouble clearing the puck, penetrating our zone, and seldom got off more than one shot before they were scrambling back on defense. I thought we looked great for that early in the season, and Harvard had not yet foundby Killer - Hockey
Re: Harvard bursts Vermont's bubble - 19 years ago
Indeed, that was a very strange moment, no goalies in net. From what I could tell, when the penalty was initially called, Fallon, the UVM goalie, saw the puck traveling down toward the Harvard end. He must have assumed it was his guys in control and headed for the bench. Have to admit that at that moment, I was confused, 'cause I thought it was a call against UVM, but watching Fallon go, I figby Killer - Hockey
Re: Polls 12/6 - 19 years ago
So what do we think is in our best interest when Vermont plays Harvard this Tuesday? I'm going to the game and would love to root against both, but 2 points are at stake and both teams are ahead of us right now. Granted, it's taken Harvard 9 games to get their 11 points, but ever since their debacle in NYS, they've been pretty hot. Vermont, OTOH, hasn't lost in their last 11 games and now siby Killer - Hockey

Re: Lynah Rink Refurbishment - 19 years ago
Agreed. We went last season and again a couple weeks ago. Very nice facility. Clean, well-lit, easy to get around. Would love to have those comfy seats with the backs at Lynah (OK, for us old folks who occasionally sit during a game...LOL).by Killer - Hockey

Will Wrote: That'd be a pretty nice prank. But, of course, as we all know, Harvard doesn't do pranks. Well, maybe WE should run with the idea then, kinda like them Yalies. We'll cut down on the number of Harvard fans by busing them elsewhere. No wait, that wouldn't work. The buses would be idle, since they don't show up for their own games anyway. Re: Vermont/Dartmouth Weekend - 19 years ago
Oh yeah, and just to comment further on your attendance numbers, last year's Cornell game at Dartmouth was reported to have had 4182 people there. That would be only 318 short of capacity. Well, having been to that game as well, I can report that if you'd put another 1,000 people into the place, you'd still have had empty seats.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Vermont/Dartmouth Weekend - 19 years ago
Seems to me I did do it correctly. I wondered if anyone shows up. OK, so they do. So what? Whatever number of so-called Dartmouth fans it was that showed up last Saturday, they were still pathetic when it came to supporting the team. If you're gonna be that quiet, go to the library. Are they as piss-poor when you play Harvard? And, BTW, I don't know how you guys report your attendance, bby Killer - Hockey
Re: Vermont/Dartmouth Weekend - 19 years ago
Have to agree with your assessment about the fans. They were a pretty pathetic bunch. Many, many empty seats, no spirit, no coordination. Save for cheering for their goals, about the only noise they made was when we got a "Let's go Red!" cheer going and they tried to counter with "Green!". Wusses. One has to wonder if when Dartmouth plays Harvard, anyone even shows up.by Killer - Hockey

Re: End Switch? - 19 years ago
I was there for '71-'77. We always attacked the scoreboard end twice. Though I seem to recall that there was one game during that stretch where we went the other way for some strange reason. An experiment that failed? A request by the opponents? Anyone remember?by Killer - Hockey

I'm pretty sure our "Screw BU" came about in the NCAA tourney in 1972. I was at the ECACs the week before, when we played BU in that final, and I don't recall shouting "Screw BU" when they finished their little jingle. But the following week BU knocked off Wisconsin in the semis and the badger fans were letting them have it. The next night, when we played BU in the final, tby Killer - Hockey
Re: BC at Harvard (Sucks) - Tuesday, 11/16 - 19 years ago
I was there as well and I think Mike's assessment is pretty accurate. Neither team was particularly impressive, though in the first few minutes, it looked like this could be a BC blowout of serious proportions. Harvard looked pretty much dazed-and-confused, with BC cruising right in to get a virtually uncontested early goal (Hyphen barely moved on the shot from his right). But before BC couldby Killer - Hockey
