Re: All-time Cornell team - 19 years ago
Did he try that too? Any better results? I'm probably mistaken, but I think that when Carlo faced that defenseman, we were playing Brown. (Of course, I seem to recall a lot of weird stuff from when we played Brown. Maybe...) Anyone know?by Killer - Hockey
Re: All-time Cornell team - 19 years ago
Anyone remember Carlo taking a penalty shot where the opposing coach pulled the goalie and inserted a defenseman? I seem to recall the guy came out to challenge, Carlo faked him out of his shorts, then paused in front of the empty net to give the guy a look before he put the puck in. (I don't think I dreamed this, but then, in my old age...LOL)by Killer - Hockey

Just back from a 75-mile training ride. Whew! Hot out there. Glad we got out early today. I think we'll try the same approach tomorrow. Thanks to those of you who've checked this out and are thinking of helping. Bobby Killer - Hockey
OT - Help Fight Cancer - 19 years ago
Fellow Big Red Hockey Fans: This is an appeal for help. No, not to beat Harvard, or Clarkson, or to screw BU. This fight is about beating cancer, something that has touched the lives of many of us. Being an avid cyclist, for the last 7 years or so, I've made it a point to put my physical well-being and ability to good use by doing at least 1 multi-day charity ride each year. Re: Semi #2 BC vs. Maine - 20 years ago
You got my vote on that. What's the longest game so far? I know when Maine beat UMass in 3OT, they mentioned it being the 4th longest ever. I seem to remember that they still had a ways to go to get any of the top 3 spots.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Semi #2 BC vs. Maine - 20 years ago
So what now? I guess we root for Maine to win and bring the title to the east, but hope that Denver can light Howard up for at least 2. Besides, then we can have few beers and come up with some convoluted arguments that since we won the Everblades... Holds about as much water as Georgia Tech's preseason win over UConn in basketball, but what the heck.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Semi #1 Denver vs. UMD - 20 years ago
Pretty sure that if BC can get 3, it's a lock for Lenny. If they only get 2, and Maine wins, Howard still gets a shot at a shutout in the final to snag the record. Go Eagles.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Semi #1 Denver vs. UMD - 20 years ago
Sounds good to me. I just sent a good luck note to my wife's boss. His nephew plays for BC (Ned Havern). I kidded him that win or lose, they'd make me happy if they just score 3 or more goals against old Jimbo tonight.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Semi #1 Denver vs. UMD - 20 years ago
And they're gonna die if they keep that up. I heard the announcer say that UMD's PP was number 2 in the country. Watching the last 2, even though they didn't score, I can see why. Reminds me of BU's PP in the early 70s.by Killer - Hockey

A lot of freshmen think white underwear plus their new red Cornell tees (never washed) plus hot water plus bleach will make the white stuff whiter and the red stuff redder. LOL. I accidentally did that my freshman year. One of my track t-shirts went unnoticed into the underwear load. Turned about 2 weekby Killer - Hockey

UConn Bad Pun Time... - 20 years ago
OK, somebody had to say it: The Oka-Force was with them (Did I just sleep through the crowd views and miss it, or was no one from UConn geeky and creative enough to make that sign? BTW, please don't tell my daughter that I was.)by Killer - Hockey

Re: Next Cornell 30-goal scorer - 20 years ago
You're right. In '78 we were riding a 44-game winning streak, poised to beat Hopkins again. Something went wrong. Never could figure that one out.by Killer - Hockey
Re: Next Cornell 30-goal scorer - 20 years ago
Those were good times. As I recall, the Maryland game didn't offer much effective defense either way, though they were doing a number on us in the first half. Quite a comeback to win it. The one I really remember was the 1977 pasting of Johns Hopkins in the championship game. Who'd have thought that any team could go up by 9 goals before a team as good as Hopkins could even get on the boardby Killer - Hockey
Re: Next Cornell 30-goal scorer - 20 years ago
I agree. While it is nice to see us clamp down hard defensively, it'd also be fun to see us light up the opponents' goalies on a more regular basis. "1, 2, we want more. Sieve, sieve, sieve..." doesn't have quite the same ring at 16:40 of the 3rd period as did "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ..." somewhere in the 2nd. Love those 2-1 games, but I wouldn't complain about a few 6-2's eithby Killer - Hockey

Re: Harvard-Maine SPOILER thread - 20 years ago
We have to look at this as potentially the best of both worlds: Harvard is out and Howard's GAA is up. Now we need the winner of Ohio State-Wisconsin to pour it on Maine in the regional final, whether it's Howard or Doyle in net.by Killer - Hockey
