Re: Cornell 0, Harvard 0 - 19 years ago
Glad to hear the fish made it on the ice without penalty repercussionsby cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Cornell Hockey Hats - 19 years ago
Good luck with getting permission from the powers that be, but I'd get at least one.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Best cheers, best insults - 19 years ago
One that I liked that never gets used much is when Cornell ices the puck, if you're quick enough to see the play coming, call out, "Raise your hand if you suck!" before the opposing goalie raises his arm to signal that he wants the automatic icing call. Can't do this one at NHL games, though.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: new cornell "logo" - 19 years ago
Here's a pic of the jerseys from the Daily Sun...they're better than I imagined they would be, although I hope this doesn't become a regular thing. I see Reebok created them. They're jumping into the hockey market now, and kind of off-topic, but there's an interesting column on ESPN.com about Reebok and Nike perhaps boosting hockey's popularity through marketing products in a similar way tby cornelldavy - Hockey

billhoward Wrote: Manny better hope the postseason doesn't count toward the Golden Glove. Manny's not winning any fielding awards in this lifetime, unless you want to give him something for the incredible and inexplicable diving catch he made this summer on a Johnny Damon throw from center field, giving the Orioles' David Newhan (son of another excellent sportswriter) an inside-the-park homerby cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the pros Oct. 2004 - 19 years ago
If anyone lives in the L.A. area, the Utah Grizzlies are playing a game against the Manchester Monarchs in the Staples Center on Oct. 23...good chance to check out Lenny on the West Coast. Also an opportunity to see Dustin Brown, who plays for the Monarchs.by cornelldavy - Hockey

"With a quarterback like that, just going to have a field day," said Cornell coach Chip Knowles. "It just changes the whole game when you have a quarterback who can do that. He's just an extremely effective weapon. Their offense is just really hard to handle because they can do so many things." Chip?by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Ticket Line - 19 years ago
From : "We didn't want a rush," said Gene Nighman '81, director of athletic tickets and events. "We didn't want to have a 'pre-line.' I just didn't want to have to deal with that, so we're going to do something different. I'll figure it out." Nice to see he's got a plan already in place. I still say that they should give this method a try: .by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Lynah East 2005 - Single Tickets on Sale 9/20 - 19 years ago
Just got my ticket in the mail. Nice to see that the brilliant folks at the Harvard ticket office spelled Los Angeles as "Los Angelos." But hey, that probably got someone an A in both geography and spelling.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Lynah East 2005 - Single Tickets on Sale 9/20 - 19 years ago
I just got off the phone with the Harvard ticket office...they had one ticket left, or so they said, and it's mine now...I'd be curious to know if other people who call also find out that there happens to be one ticket left as well...but I might need another ticket or three when the game rolls around...by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Lynah East 2005 - Single Tickets on Sale 9/20 - 19 years ago
I'd put solid money on Bright being within the Boston city limits. I know it's close, but check the zip code.by cornelldavy - Hockey

Right, that one overtime win and five losses in your last six home games against the Red looks like a whole lot of whoopass. Oh, and Bright is in Boston. Re: New College Sports Network - 19 years ago
actually, NCAA basketball (outside of the Ivy League and a few other small conferences) isn't often played on Friday nights. Taking a quick look at a few major programs' schedules, UCLA only has 1 Friday night game this season (New Year's Eve), UConn doesn't have any Friday night games, and Maryland only has 2 (both early-season non-conference games). In the winter, that could leave Friday nightsby cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: Cornell 5 at Harvard 3 FINAL - 19 years ago
Just happened to catch the last 10 minutes of this game earlier on tv...is there any indication as to which games might be on CSTV this season, now that I finally live somewhere that the local cable carries it?by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: hockey game officials - 19 years ago
I have the officials in question. They have been in my trunk for over 18 years now, and I have no intention of surrendering them. I feed them three times a day and they are very well cared for. Please do not concern yourself with these officials. I cannot release their identities.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Random CU hockey sign - 19 years ago
I still have the sign...John, it's yours if you can get it since you called it... I didn't want to sell it on ebay because it really is worthless and I wouldn't want to make someone pay for it, the shipping would be worth more than the sign, and I figured someone on the forum would be able to find a home for it. Believe me, if I could logically get it to California, I would.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Random CU hockey sign - 19 years ago
I have a sign from the 2000 student ticket line that's up for grabs if anyone wants it. Just come pick it up in Bristol, CT (about 20 min. SW of Hartford). It's about 2'x6', and it's red lettering on a white background reading "Ice Hockey Student Ticket Sales." I'm sure it's of no value other than sentimental, and I would prefer to keep it, but I'm moving to California, it won't fit inby cornelldavy - Hockey

BU games? - 19 years ago
What's the story with playing Boston University in '04-05? I was under the impression that the plan was to play 2 games in Boston this season over Thanksgiving weekend, but BU is scheduled to be in Colorado that weekend to play Denver and Colorado College, according to its website. Cornell doesn't have anything listed for that weekend on its website, so I assume they're still looking for sby cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: Rumors on ECAC expansion - 19 years ago
Well, Las Vegas grew over 83 percent in population from 1990 to 2000. By 2010 the population will be bigger than say, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh, all of which have teams (yes, they're not doing well). On top of that, you have tourists coming through all the time looking for things to do, and a major league baseball game in a nice stadium is going to be high on that list, eby cornelldavy - Hockey

It's not hockey, but it does involve one of the most legendary coaching rivalries of all time...Bo Schembechler was a grad student at Ohio State (undergrad at Miami - OH), and was even a graduate assistant coach under Woody Hayes before leaving to eventually become head coach at Ohio State's arch rival, Michigan.by cornelldavy - Hockey

There have been 12 unassisted triple plays in baseball history, the last being Rafael Furcal's on August 10, 2003. There have been 15 4-HR games, Carlos Delgado was the last to do it (Sept. 25, 2003). And as we all know, Randy Johnson's perfect game last night was the 17th in history...so while these three are all pretty rare, they've also all happened within the last year.
