Re: trivial hockey question - 20 years ago
Q: In Boston, name a bridge and a college newspaper? - BU Bridge is the name of BU's Daily Sun equivalent. Another knock on the Sun on the forum... The BU Bridge is a weekly paper that is run by the university...the independent daily student newspaper and equivalent of The Sun is the Daily Free Press.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: trivial hockey question - 20 years ago
The NHL started wearing dark jerseys at home and white jerseys on the road this season because all of the NHL teams' alternate jerseys were dark as well (except one...I forget offhand which team has white third jerseys), and this enabled the home teams to choose which of their dark jerseys to wear while allowing road teams to travel with only one set of jerseys.by cornelldavy - Hockey

Not sure if the official announcement has been mentioned here yet, but Niagara applied for ECAC membership this weekend. Niagara submits bid to join ECAC hockey LEWISTON, N.Y. Re: Murray in the lineup? - 20 years ago
The Sharks actually had a player make his NHL debut in this year's playoffs...Marcel Goc...he played one game in the St. Louis series and one game in the Avs series, he got a point in each...so a player can join the team in the playoffs even if he didn't play for them in the regular season.by cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: Hockey trivia - 20 years ago
The Elias Sports Bureau actually has done work on adjusted +/- and historical +/- stats from before +/- was an official NHL stat. I don't think it has been released at all, and I don't know if it ever will, because Elias is very protective of the information they generate.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Sun interview with Noel - 20 years ago
To suggest that this is sexist or poor reporting is a pretty narrow view. This is clearly not a news article, and I don't think its intent was to deeply explore newsworthy issues. It shows a side of the AD that people who don't know him never see, and in that respect, I think Per did a good job. Re: [OT] Freshman room assignments - 20 years ago
Get a single...I thought it might be a good idea to know someone early on, so when they assigned me to a single, I asked for a change...that was a terrible idea, they stuck me in the transfer center, I was the only freshman in the building, and my roommate was nuts...by the end of the first semester we shared about 10 words a week.by cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: OT: Slope Day - 20 years ago
For what it's worth, Weezer doesn't have any upcoming tour dates listed on their official site. O.A.R. does, but nothing is listed for May 7 (they're in Norfolk, VA the night before, so draw your own conclusions as to whether they'd play an afternoon show in Ithaca the next day).by cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: Cornell alumni in the pros: March 2004 - 20 years ago
Well, I'm back from the Falcons game. JMP played, Lenny didn't dress. The team pretty much hung JMP out to dry - he faced 42 shots, 18 in the first period. He looked a little shaky early on, he allowed three goals in the first period, including one on a wraparound where he didn't cover the near side quick enough. But he played pretty well after that. I did see LeNeveu during the game, he was sittby cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Cornell alumni in the pros: March 2004 - 20 years ago
This is from the Falcons' web site. It was posted on Thursday, and JMP started on Friday, so it's now been four games that he's missed. No word on what the injury is, though. I'm thinking about going to the Falcons game tonight against the P-Bruins, so maybe I can figure out what's up with Lenny. Goaltender David LeNeveu has not dressed for the last three games due to an injury.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: mask's - 20 years ago
Lenny's mask for the Springfield Falcons was painted by Doug Wager, he works out of the Philly suburbs but he's done masks for goalies at all levels, nationwide. His company is called Weasel Head. You can check out his website at www.wzlhed.com. This was also covered in the Cornell Alumni in the Pros February thread (I'm lazy and I'm not providing the link here, sorry).by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: All Ivy Teams Announced - 20 years ago
I guess the powers that be consider Ihnacak, who is the 9th-best forward in the Ivies at best, to still be better than the second-best defenseman or second-best goalie.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: Clarkson 0 Cornell 1 1st int. - 20 years ago
Good luck with that (see yesterday's Cornell basketball thread). by the way, the cagers are down 7 midway through the first half at Princeton. A loss will mathematically eliminate the Red.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: More Stolen Cheers - 20 years ago
You misheard the cheer...Maryland basketball fans sing "Hey! You suck! We're gonna beat the hell out of you, and you, and you, and you!" That's said as they point to various opposing players on the court. Maryland is the University of Maryland, so MU wouldn't be right anyway. They've been doing that for longer than Cornell fans have - I went to a Maryland game in the '99-00 season and hby cornelldavy - Hockey

Well, we're alive mathematically to still share the Ivy title. Penn 84, Cornell 69 PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Jeff Schiffner scored 24 points, Ibrahim Jaaber scored 14 of his 17 points in the second half, and Penn used scoring outbursts in each half to defeat Cornell 84-69 Friday night. Charlie Copp added 14 points for Penn (14-9, 7-3 Ivy), and held Ka'Ron Barnes, the Ivy League's leading scorer (21 points per game) to just 10 points. Eric Taylorby cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: [OT] - Hoops - Cornell 69 at Penn 84, final - 20 years ago
Looks like Penn made Ka'Ron Barnes a complete non-factor. Also, we managed to lose by 15 despite outrebounding Penn and having a better FG Pct. They just smoked us from 3-point range.
