McKee in SI - 19 years ago
David McKee is one of the "Faces in the Crowd" in this week's issue of Sports Illustrated (the one with the Blue Jays on the cover). I couldn't find the mention online, but here's what it says: McKee, a sophomore goalie at Cornell, made 207 saves on 222 shots in Ivy League play and leads the nation with a 1.27 goals-against average. He was named the conference's player of the year, aby cornelldavy - Hockey

My senior year ('03) I left for spring break on Monday morning (after the home playoff series at Lynah) and returned on Thursday so I could go to the playoff games in Albany. To be fair, I had to do it for The Sun, but I would have done it anyway. I didn't get as much time in Daytona Beach, but drinking from the Whitelaw Trophy more than made up for it. Re: How good are the Patriots? - 19 years ago
Man...I really thought the Eagles were going to do it...they had the opportunity: a lead and the talent to hold on, but they beat themselves - too many mistakes against a team that plays nearly mistake-free football. Maybe - hopefully - we'll see a rematch next year. It better not be another 24-year wait before the next Eagles Super Bowl appearance.by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: How good are the Patriots? - 19 years ago
Well, what more can I say? I guess you're all right; why even play the game? The Patriots are clearly the better team and the Eagles should just get on a plane back to Philly now. Give me a break. How about we look at the teams' records this season in games that mattered? The Eagles only lost one, to the Steelers (as you mentioned, the first 15-1 team in AFC history), a game in which Brianby cornelldavy - Hockey

Nobody's considering the fact that when the Eagles were in the Super Bowl 11 years ago, they had a two-touchdown lead at the half...of course, then Dan Marino returned to the game after being rescued by Ace Ventura, and I don't quite recall how that game turned out...but that has to count for something, right?by cornelldavy - Hockey
Re: The GAA Battle - 19 years ago
This reminds me of the American League batting title race of 1910 (who could forget it?) between Ty Cobb and Nap Lajoie. The winner of the batting crown was to receive a new car, and because Cobb was so hated, when Lajoie played in St. Louis on the last day of the season, the Browns' manager ordered his third baseman to play on the outfield grass to allow Lajoie to bunt for hits all day long in oby cornelldavy - Hockey

Re: How good are the Patriots? - 19 years ago
I'm not denying the Patriots' success, but to go back 10 years is useless. Both teams have been completely overhauled in the past 10 years. Nobody from the '95 Eagles is still on the team, and there's a different coach. The Patriots only have three players from their '95 team still on the roster, and they're on their second coach since then. The Eagles allowed fewer passing yards and fewer pasby cornelldavy - Hockey
