Based on my call to the Harvard (sucks) ticket office yesterday, the multi-game ticket package bullshit of 2003-04 is no more. Single-game tickets for the Cornell game go on sale this Monday (9/20) with a 6-ticket/person limit.
Let the Red and the Faithful remind Donato just how much Harvard sucks.

are those tickets being sold to the general public or what?
and since i know alot of people have gotten tickets through harvard friends/connections in the past, does anyone know if there is any advantage to obtaining them with a harvard id? ie are they free/unlimited/etc?
i started grad school here in cambridge this year, and want to get as many tickets for my cornell friends as possible. am i better off purchasing them as a harvard student, or a random caller?

Based on my past experiences, you're WAY better off calling the Harvard ticket office with your Sucks ID number in hand. A friend's grandmother who was a Harvard alum's widow was able to buy 7 tickets for us (a few years ago), but they wouldn't give random callers the time of day. I don't know if Harvard-connected people (I know, redundant) can get truly unlimited tickets or not. But if they can, can I place my order with you now? :-D

i just called the harvard box office. it seems as if the only perk i get is getting 6 tickets guaranteed if i become a season ticket holder here, which carries with it a $100 price tag (and of course massive stigma). undergrads on the other hand get free tix (i am not sure if there is a limit). if i do not become a season ticket holder, for strategic purposes, i am supposedly in the same position as every member of the general public. that's not to say that going to the box office in person with a HUID won't help me get noticed over callers, but the ticket supervisor was steadfast regarding the 6 ticket limit, student or not. and now i have a req'd class when the box office opens monday morning. even at harvard, i get screwed for cornell tickets

john,

i doubt anyone checks ids at the door if you have a printed ticket in hand. the more likely problem is whether a "ticket" for an undergrad is merely showing your id upon entrance, which would clearly be nonstransferable.

btw, when i spoke to the ticket office here today, i casually asked ab the cornell game and he said "we have problems with THAT particular ticket situation."

The only "problem" they have with that particular situation is that their own fans suck.

From this, I would surmise that they are still scratching their heads and trying to figure out a new diabolical scheme to prevent Cornellians from buying up the tickets long enough that their otherwise pathetically slow demand results in a few tickets being sold to Harvard fans. Whatever they come up with, I'm sure you're going to find it easier to get tickets to the Cornell game as a Harvard poser. For full effect, present your Harvard ID, buy the tickets, and then remove your coat to reveal your Cornell hockey jersey... Heh-heh-heh.

unfortunately, i bit the bullet and decided it was worth it to pay the $100 for harvard season tix so that i was guaranteed 7 (6 + the season ticket) for the lynah east game here [which is damn expensive, considering i have to pay for the tickets too]. before i bought the tix, i confirmed that i was able to get the 6 to a single game right away. the attendant asked which game i wanted, then asked if i went to cornell, and mentioned that they were allowed to exercise discretion in choosing who gets to be a season ticket holder. accordingly, i kept my mouth shut.

Hey you bunch of slappies! When you can get by Clarkson in the playoffs you can start hating ticket policies. It's like you roll over and fold all the time, or better yet fall off in a gorge. I find it hard to believe that as Ivy League faithful (most of you are probably wannabees), with your fantastic educations (some of you probably say you have a degree but don't), complain about the price of a hockey ticket. Did you just not get into Harvard? Is that it? If Harvard did it right you'd be buying a season ticket to get extras. The arena would be filled w/ students while you sit out in your "I want to be a hockey player" Big Red jerseys protesting like a bunch of chauncies. There's more to life than hockey, or maybe there isn't in Ithaca. But enjoy skating on your frozen ponds in BFE, Lynahp and accept the can of whoop ass opened up on you when you roll into Cambridge. Cheers!

Sir

Oh, and Bright is in Boston. The only time I would go into Cambridge is to get a celebratory drink at John Harvard's.

Hey Slappies I'm back!!! I am glad we have a bunch of technical geographical nerds on this board. Cambridge, Allston, Boston...it's all the same. Ithaca, backwoods, fingerlakes...it's all BFE. The fact is you can't win the big game. Enjoy your trip to Ft. Myers in December and thaw out a little bit. Take your ass-whippings from BC and Maine, then come back and get yours. Cheers to beers!

Hmmm - I count 12 Big Game wins for Cornell (10 ECAC and 2 NCAA championships, including a 3-1 record vs. Harvard in ECAC championship games) and only 8 Big Game wins for Harvard. Cornell's record in championship games is 12-8 (.600), while Harvard's is 8-9 (.471).

Guess your degree with honors must be in English, not math? Then again, maybe 12>8 is beyond the level of Harvard honors math in the first place...

Just FYI - just called the Hahvahd ticket office (1-877-464-2782) and after being on hold for just 5 minutes or so, got a very nice girl on the phone who was gracious enough to get me 6 tickets with no questions asked. She even put me in the "Cornell section" - like we have a whole section vs. the whole arena - not sure if she assumed that's where I wanted to be or if that's "all that was left". Tickets will go in the mail tomorrow. So call up if you want to get yours! Good luck all. Glad to know we're definitely making the trip up from MD.

Just got mine as well. The guy was more concerned whether I had been on hold forever than whether I was a Cornell fan (he said they were getting creamed by phone calls). I'd been calling since 10 but getting a "call back" message. At about 10:20 I got a please hold, and then about a 2 minute wait.

They were very pleasant. FWIW, I was told that the exhibition game is free -- or at least that tix were not on sale by phone.

Got mine this morning as well. It took about 6 tries getting the "call back later" message, followed by being on hold for about 3 minutes when I got through. After exchanging pleasantries, the next words out of the mouth of the woman who took my call were, "How many tickets to the Cornell hockey game would you like?" I laughed and asked how she knew that I wasn't calling for something else. She said, "Because right now we're swamped with those calls."

BTW, if anyone has an interest in "The Game", she said they still have tickets for the Harvard-Yale football game.

LGR!

At 2:33 EDT, they only had blocks of 6 left in secs 2 & 3 (harvard side near the main entrance), so I got one of those (blocks). They had 2 or more together in section 20 (opposite from 2&3), and beyond that, only singles.

i got more emails from you guys than i know what to do with. for the record, i was surprisingly able to get rid of all my tix by convincing the maybes in my grp of friends to attend. as such, i'm all out. i apologize for getting anyone's hopes up! there are several other avenues for tix tho:

i highly recommend you: (1) call harvard near the day of the game to see if any tix have been returned or if their own fans or undergrads have not picked up their tix. oftentimes, tix are released in this manner.
(2) if you live close by, it may not hurt to head up on gameday. worse comes to worse, you catch the brown away game at providence that friday, where you may even encounter fans with extra tix.
(3) and you could drop by the rink (or john harvard's brewery in harv sq- it's cornell central) on harvard game night to see if anyone has any extras. good luck!

Yes, there was a lottery last year. This year, a line will start at an undisclosed location on the banks of the Charles in November and tickets will be sold on Christmas morning. Those freezing to death prior to ticket sales shall have their numbers invalidated. nut

Seriously though, I do not anticipate a lottery this year and those people who really want tickets and buy them the day the club puts them onsale online, shouldn't have problems picking up a pair of tickets. I don't know when that day will be but it will be posted here.
