Re: Cornell 0 Princeton 3 - 18 years ago
To be fair, we taunted them about their state. I think if we get to cheer about how we get to leave, it's only fair for them to cheer that we have to drive through snow in order to leaveby ftyuv - Hockey

Re: [OT] What is The Most Competitive Sport (GEEK ALERT) - 18 years ago
Hm, I think I see your point. Are you saying that the idea isn't to decide which sport is most intrinsically competitive, but rather which sport has the most competitive league? I could buy that. If we further assumed that each sport is about the same in terms of competitiveness -- the sport itself, not the league that plays it -- then the proposed ranking would indeed make sense.by ftyuv - Hockey
Re: [OT] What is The Most Competitive Sport (GEEK ALERT) - 18 years ago
That kinda sounds counter-intuitive to me. I would think that the most competitive sports are those in which upsets happen least. My reasoning is that if we assume that the better ranked team is indeed better, if there were no luck (wind direction, bounces of the puck, etc), psychological breakdowns of the team, etc etc, that better team should win every time because it competes better. Well, Chabot's tied with Moulson for even-strength goals, and with much less ice time. He's already on the list... we should vote for him as a bloc and give him some recognition.by ftyuv - Hockey

Re: Another goalie recruit goes elsewhere - 18 years ago
I always guessed that at least part of that was a "why sit on the bench and watch McKee?" thinking. I wonder, with McKee a bit older and sometimes getting pulled, whether that's something that'll change.by ftyuv - Hockey

The problem with such a class -- and don't worry, I get that it's a joke, but it makes the case -- is that the sort of people who would bother coming are the same sort who would go on ELynah, ask friends what's going on, and generally be the fans we don't whine about. After reading that article, I had an odd thought. I know next to nothing about ADD, so someone tell me if I'm completely off my rocker... but could it be that the treatment for ADD may contribute to his apparent lacklaster performance this year? If ADD is responsible for his hyper-focused nature in games and his hands-on learning approach (as he said in the article), maybe the same training thaby ftyuv - Hockey

Doug '08, where you the guy in the white jersey? I was a few seats away and heard the "this guy sucks" cheer, and when I looked there was someone in a white jersey looking confused and angry. I remember thinking it very odd that anyone wearing a jersey in section E would deserve such a cheer, and given the general ignorance of a lot of people in that area, I figured it was they who suby ftyuv - Hockey
