ugarteftyuvif the A's want their name to appear as the A's, you do it. Not the point I was making, actually. Look at the jersey on the page. The team goes by both "A's" and "Athletics". Jason Kendall's page would be an Athletic's website no matter how odd it is that the A's render their name with an apostrophe. Hm, I don't see a jersey on that page. ugarteCowbellGuyftyuvBeeeejThe Chicago Manual of Style's rule amuses me - they agree with me except when the proper is Jesus or Moses, then it's just s-apostrophe. AP style distinguishes between voiced and unvoiced final Ss. That's the policy I've always followed. Either is correct. But I think we can all agree that what's in the subject name isn't correct for any form of written English. Unlby ftyuv - Hockey

BeeeejftyuvBeeeejRichHYes, but shouldn't the apostrophe in this thread title be after the "s?" Yes, followed by another s. Oh, you're one of those... ...whose possessives make sense? Why, yes, I am. Well, suit yourself. Personally, I like my possessives like I like my women: apostrophe-s or s-apostrophe, but never s-apostrophe-s; and irregular in the case of pronominals.by ftyuv - Hockey

Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
But what if someone's already working a lot for work study, books, etc, and in addition wants to take a heavy course load? I don't think you should force them into a situation where they have to chose which they're more dedicated to, hockey or school work. Yes, a purely capitalist system could in the strictest sense benefit those who are most dedicated, but it would do so at the expense of thoseby ftyuv - Hockey
Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
I hate to be the guy to look at the downside here... but if the numbers stay this low, does that mean very few season tickets are going to get sold, and does that in turn mean that Lynah may be empty for many games? The lack of commitment a season ticket bestows may be especially hurtful if (knock on wood) this does end up being a rebuilding year. It would really suck if Lynah lost what it's goby ftyuv - Hockey

Jason LftyuvHow hard are tickets to get through Harvard? best bet last year was to pick them up online....seems like the phones were tied up for much of the morning for tickets. if you're in boston, as your hostname suggests, your best bet would probably be to goto the ticket office an hour early and wait there. Advanced age! Speak for yourself, Oldy McOldman -- I just graduated But however unadvanced my age is, that's how unadvanced my hockey is, too. So a beginner's league like that sounds perfect. Thanks!by ftyuv - Hockey

This is a question to all you Beantowners. I was wondering if any of you knew some good open hockey sessions that go on around here. I've been to a couple of FMCs, but there didn't seem to be much going on other than a couple of people doing just stick practice or whatever -- I didn't happen across any pickup games or anything. Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
I think they should just have a line, like in the good ol' days, and have it start a few days before school. That way there's not the "we don't want you to miss classes" problem, and you can let people camp out in the line for however long they're willing to commit. The frosh will already be there so it's not unfair to them, upperclassmen are usually there anyway so it won't be unfaby ftyuv - Hockey
Re: CU to charge students for athletic events - 17 years ago
Athletics didn't get SA funding this year because they didn't realize that the deadline had changed. Somehow other groups managed to get it done, and I'm sure the blame doesn't fall only on the SA. Takes two to tango. And besides, when it was clear that the SA funding had fallen through for whatever reason, the University as a whole should have picked up the tab. Anyway I've got to agree thby ftyuv - Hockey
