Re: Other games Sat. 10/28/06 - 17 years ago
ebilmesAnd, Clarkson loses to the kids, 6-2, at home. Ouch. Their website describes it as a "slow start," but the opponent "taking a 4-0 lead midway through the first" isn't a slow start in my book, it's a damn fast one -- just, in the wrong direction. 52 minutes of penalties earned 3 points for the kids and 1 for the Knights. I hope they enjoyed their decaminute of reaby ftyuv - Hockey

I think our real efforts should be on getting Cornell to come up with its own, in-house solution to a webcast. I'm sure there's at least one engineer who would love this as a senior project. Anyone have any ideas on how we could effect such a plan?by ftyuv - Hockey

Section A BansheeCKinslandRegarding our weak OOC schedule, and mirroring sentiments elsewhere in this thread: Ithaca Journal (Shafer)“You have a responsibility to the college game in general,” Schafer said. “You have a responsibility to play against the Robert Morris' and the RIT's. CowbellGuyIf you're talking about the one set in the forum, that's server-side. I'm talking about the one set in "Forum Settings" in my Control Panel page. I don't see why you can't have the server, when it's making the page, pass that to the javascript. Something like: Modify doCountdown() to have it be doCountdown(timezone), then var currentDate = new Date() + timezone * 60; (oby ftyuv - Hockey

TrotskySection A BansheeCome on, though, no NAMES? Passing the team-of-the-day roster around the back row of the pepband for taunt fodder is one of my fondest memories... I'm surprised they are prohibiting calling of names. Usually the annual crackdown is merely about profanity. Maybe they're so into the atmosphere that they've started thinking of the opponents' names as profanityby ftyuv - Hockey

las224This is beautiful! I absolutely love it, even over the old site. One question - how do I jump to new posts in a thread? Mine still takes me just to the top, so I scroll down (or start at the bottom and scroll up) to find where I left off. Click on the "x new" red text next to the thread name in the main listing.by ftyuv - Hockey

I agree with Jason. I've spent decades on this forum building a reputation, and I don't want some smug freshman putting "ftyuv" for his real name and distroying my eCred.by ftyuv - Hockey

While the Cornellian in me always likes more red, the I'm-at-work-ian in me appreciates that I'll now be able to check threads at work without my monitor screaming out, "THIS GUY IS SLACKING OFF ON THE JOB!" I do like the idea of giving us a couple color schemes to choose from. It'd also be really cool if this setting came in two modes: a "default" and a "just on thiby ftyuv - Hockey

From what I've read here, I think I agree with you, Cactus. And maybe that's for the best. If Schafer's tendency is towards defense, it could be better that we're starting off with a somewhat more offensive team this year. Don't get me wrong, I love low-scoring, defensive games. But killer defenses alone don't win games -- they lose in 3 overtimes (too soon?). Our offense started weak last yby ftyuv - Hockey

Which team is the minty team? That team is the minty team! My one piece of warning is that if we bust out the "ha you're a candy!" cheers, and if anyone in section O has half a brain, we might find our cheers matched 1-to-1 by big red taunts.by ftyuv - Hockey

Liz '05BeeeejLiz '05That'ss/That's'/That's's apparently induce a lot of grammatical confusion. See, now I have to assume you're being serious. Lol. Well, I think too many Ss together looks bad, as do too many s's -- to say nothing of too many S's. That's why I omit the second. One particularly bad hole in the author's logic is the attempt to tie English spelling and pronunciation: The surprisingly popular practice of omitting the final "s" in all s-ending words is ... completely illogical. My coworker told me the other day about an 8-inch floppy disk he had. Not 5.5", 8". I hadn't even known those existed! Feel free to insert lewd jokes about your own 8-inch floppies.
