SLU beats Michigan State - 19 years ago
SLU is off to a decent start -- tied St. Cloud, lost by 2 to UNH, and beat MSU last night. Tonight they play Michigan. Colgate's off to a nice start as well. It's good for the ECAC, that Great Northern conference. Now, if only the Ivies could get in the game as early as the rest of them.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: Hockey tonight - 19 years ago
Brown was credited with an assist on the second goal, according to the AHL website. It was his only point of the night. Imagine if he was begining his sophmore year at Cornell...by ithacat - Hockey
Adam Wodon Signing - 19 years ago
Adam Wodon will be signing his new book, Cornell University Hockey, this Saturday at the store from 11-1. There are some copies available that are already signed by Arthur Mintz, who was at the store on Tuesday for a book signing.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: Think students have it tough? - 19 years ago
The upper end of the estimate right now is 250. That gives one the option to purchase 2 tickets, assuming most would do so means 500 seats. That, I believe, is the rumored number of seats to be added in the upcoming expansion. That's not an impossible to manage list and, of course, it would disappear with the expansion. If it is at the 250 range, however, that would represent a 40% increase oby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Think students have it tough? - 19 years ago
It may be quicker. Think about having no turn over on the list and adding 15-40% after the year they just had -- good, but not spectular. What happens after this year when they make another run to the Frozen Four? Of course, if they expand that would take care of most of the current list -- throw in some luxury boxes and you can spend your hard-earned riches on the soft seats. Think students have it tough? - 19 years ago
The waiting list for season tickets (non-students, of course) is now 7-10 years. Last year it was projected at 5, but there was no movement off the list this year and it grew by 15-40% -- though final numbers weren't released. I'm not sure what measure they use to calculate the wait, but having to wait a day or two doesn't seem so bad (in the short term). If any students will be staying in theby ithacat - Hockey

Still, I would rather have Dustin Brown skating in on a sieve than Dustin Hoffman.by ithacat - Hockey

See G'Town lacrosse...or Troy (State) football...it's a big if in any sport, but it can happen.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: RIT Going D.1 - 19 years ago
This would be great news for Rochester. If the Tigers can come close to duplicating their D3 success on the D1 level they'd have an impressive program (that's a big if, obviously). I thought some of the interesting subtext in the article was centered around RIT's increasing enrollment and facilites build out. If they want to offer scholarships they'll need to elevate all their programs -- darby ithacat - Hockey
Hope you're right, of course. - 19 years ago
FWIW, These things are subjective by their nature, but generally seem to have more hits than misses (in most sports). INCHO posted the top 10 players by source, looking at USA Hockey NTDP, USHL, US Prep/HS, NAHL, EJHL, BCHL, Mountain/Central Canada, and Ontario/Eastern Canada. The breakdown for ECAC schools is as follows: 3 recruits: Clarkson Dartmouth H****** 2 recruits: Union 1by ithacat - Hockey
Re: Sawada picked 20th best incoming forward - 19 years ago
They've also posted the lists for goalies, defensive players, and classes. As many probably suspected, Cornell doesn't appear to have had a stellar recruiting class -- at least in the eyes of INCH.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: New Book on CU Hockey - 19 years ago
I bought 3 from the store and sent 2 to relatives in Rochester. They came down for the playoffs last year and absolutely loved the atmosphere (hated the results but had a great time). In fact, my older brother went to the Frozen Four in Buffalo a couple of years ago and said the best thing about the event was watching the Faithful. I hope all you students realize how important you are to the succby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Games @ Michigan State - 19 years ago
But the bad news...did you see them play Rutgers last weekend? They might be as bad as Syracuse this year. Seriously, it'd be a blast to see a Big11 football game. Have fun.by ithacat - Hockey
Correction - 19 years ago
I jumped the gun...the book's actually $19.99. It's still 20% off at the store.by ithacat - Hockey
New Book on CU Hockey - 19 years ago
In case anyone's interested: Adam Wodon (research assistance by Arthur Mintz) has written Cornell University Hockey, published by Arcadia. It's $19.95 and the Cornell Store is running a preseason special at 20% off until the first puck drops for the Red/White game.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: What's with the poor out of conference schedule? - 19 years ago
Cornell had a better winning % against tourny teams last year than any team in the field. I'm not sure how the RPI works, but it seems that what also hurt them (beside not winning the ECAC) was not playing enough power teams to garner mindshare. It seems that as the ECAC weakens the need to improve the OOC schedule increases greatly. Also, if you're going to play Western Michigan and Bowling Greeby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Townie Season Tickets - 19 years ago
mjr, did they tell you how many are on the list? I haven't checked my place yet this year, but last year there were less than 200 on the list (which tells you how slowly tickets turn over). Greg's right about break, very easy to get tickets then. I've also had luck using this site's ticket exchange board. Let's Go Red...by ithacat - Hockey
Re: '04 - '05 Schedule - 19 years ago
The teams that made last year's NCAA tournament played an average of 13 games against other tournament teams -- Cornell played 5. Cornell, btw, had the best winning % against tournament teams, compared to the field. The Ivies either need to let their teams make up the game reduction or the ECAC needs to get smaller, thus allowing more OOC games (or both). Otherwise Cornell, and any other ECACby ithacat - Hockey
