Re: For Messers Hyla and DeFlorio - 22 years ago
Thanks, Mark. Could you find a 66-67 season game for us instead? Interesting that the current bid price is higher than any of the other sports games he's selling. College hockey fans are real nuts, I guess. (Now, just how much is this thing worth to me?)by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: Alumni game rosters - 22 years ago
Joe, Brad, and JMP all played last year. Also Steve Wilson, Mike Schafer, Chris Grenier, and many others. Attendance will depend to some degree on which past teams are being "honored" this summer. In 2000 it was the 1967 and 1970 teams (hence Ned, Ken, and many others from the Harkness era were at the game); last year it was 1986 and 1996. Sorry, but I forget this summer's "hoby Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: Icing non-call - 22 years ago
Gibber's usually a straight-shooter. I don't really feel like watching the last two minutes again, but in watching the tape the first time it appeared to me like the puck did hit something right after it left his stick. I recall one of the Cornell fans (Jim Hyla?) also mentioning something about UNH having too many men on the ice late in the game. But...it's over...and, we, sadly, are out.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: CU- QU game analysis - 22 years ago
I don't think this is an accurate description of the Q goal. The shot came from Underhill's left at a severe angle and was passing harmlessly across in front of the net when it hit a skate or leg, made a 90 degree turn to the right and into the goal. It just didn't matter.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: We're an UNDERDOG! - 22 years ago
Chief, we missed you Saturday. Will look for you Sunday. Our seats are up in the balcony (332, 333) but we'll try to move down where oxygen isn't required.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

That's the way they looked against North Dakota in last year's NCAA semifinals, too.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Nieuwendyk/Nieuwendijk - 22 years ago
Nothing to do with the trade, but, in researching Amsterdam for a May visit, I discovered the pedestrian-only shopping street is called Nieuwendijk.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: YES Network carrying games! - 22 years ago
He had an evening commute call-in radio show back in the mid-60s in NYC, IIRC. People would try to "stump" him with questions--and rarely succeeded. Nice, kind man. Knew just about everything about sports.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
Re: posters - 22 years ago
I think you'll find it an almost perfect match for Cornell's red.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: Joe N. gets traded to Devils - 22 years ago
Can't speak for everyone here, Rich, but that's exactly the way I took your earlier comment. Joe's been known to do some pretty heavy damage "in front"--with damage meaning scoring, not carving. His box lacrosse background gives him excellent stick skills for tipping/deflecting pucks.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey

Re: Joe N. gets traded to Devils - 22 years ago
Thanks, Rich, for the quick response. Well, nasty certainly isn't Joe, so, if nasty is what they wanted, I guess it was the right thing for Dallas to trade him.by Al DeFlorio - Hockey
