NCAA Games on TV?

Will either the QU or UNH game (if we beat QU) be on TV? What network (i.e., NESN, Empire, etc.) On Directv, will they charge extra- I remember a few years ago the CU-North Dakota gane was on the Minnesota Sports Channel, but having the package of regional sports channels on Directv was not enough, for some reason- it was still blacked out where I live- in L.A.

Here is the latest from the NCAA:

NCAA Productions will produce all eight regional contests and syndicate each game for interested local TV stations and regional sports networks.

Fox Sports North will be the flagship station for the 2002 NCAA Division I Hockey first- and second-round games. Additional local station clearances will be announced during the week of March 17.

Local stations in markets whose TV rights have not been awarded may contact the NCAA broadcast services department. Questions regarding television coverage of the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship are welcome and should be directed to Greg Weitekamp (gweitekamp@ncaa.org) at the national office.

ESPN will televise the championship game live. ESPN2 will broadcast the semifinal games. For the latest updates on television clearances on all games, check www.ncaachampionships.com under TV schedule.

Boston College defeated the University of North Dakota 3-2 to win the 2001 championship. It was the Eagles' second Division I Men's Ice Hockey title.

Excellent. Have they announced the time of the CU-QC game?

the ncaa page lists "fox sports wisconsin" (very odd) as the network that will be broadcasting the cu-qc game.
anyone knows what channel number is that on directv?

I'll be at the CU-QU game, but I have to come back to school Sunday. I'll plan to head back early if we win Saturday, to get back in time for the 3:30 game, but will it be on cable in Ithaca? Empire?!?

As cool as it'd be, the dorm don't carry DirecTV :). Or will I be listening to Grady again (not that there's anything particularly wrong with that).

I understand that Time Warner Cable is working on getting the rights to televise whatever games they can in Ithaca.

They haven't yet decided who will be broadcasting the games. They said to check www.ncaatournament.com later today, but that the decision would be made sometime this week. In New England I know that FSNE and NESN are vying for rights, as are Empire Sports and YES. They will both be broadcasting some games. In short, they haven't decided yet. Mark H. Anbinder wrote:

The YES network schedule lists an NCAA quarterfinal game to be broadcast at 3:30 on Sunday (this is not listed on the NCAA site as of yet)... no other game at that time as far as i know so I'll assume thats the Cornell game (and I'll assume god doesn't continue to curse Cornell in this playoff year and have them lose to a MAAC team). This is good news for those of us in NYC especially (who don't have Cablevision of course).

Anybody around Philly know of anywhere that cares about College Hockey so I can watch the game? help
I did notice that Comcast played the ECAC final on Sun Afternoon. I highly doubt CSN will carry that over the Flyers Pens game.

Sarli,

I have watched games at Philadelphia Park in Bensalem, just north of Philly. They have the Direct TV sports package and are happy to tune a map one of their channels to the channel you need. You even get your own TV (abou a 6'' screen), with volume control. Admittedly, you are there with most people who care about horse racing, and some hoops fans, but who cares you get to watch and listen.

Is that the old Liberty Bell track?

No Al,

The Liberty Bell Race track is Now Franklin Mills mall, a 1.6 mile nucleus (a record at the time of construction) of generic American outlet shopping, surrounded by a swarm of fast food dining establishments.

Philadelphia Park is about 5 miles nw of the Liberty Bell site.

My house in Flossmoor (in south suburbs). Any and all Lynah Faithful are invited, Sat. and hopefully Sunday. E-mail me if interested and leave a phone # and I'll get back to you with directions.
Saturday, I've got to leave for a wedding at about 5:30CST, so let's pray for no o't.

I hope you mean 5:30 CST.

If I have to leave my house at 5:30, that would be 5:30 where I am, not somewhere else. Since I didn't expect anyone to drive from another time zone (although southwest Michigan's not far) I thought I'd be safe, but I've edited my posting to add CST just to make sure it's clear to all.
