ESPN+ did me the courtesy of bouncing me to the Merrimack-UMass game after the Dartmouth win. 2:05 to go and Merrimack is up 1-0

Minnesota State wins the CCHA Tourney and moves to 14 in NPI. UConn beats BC to go to the HE final and is 13th in NPI, so they have a chance at a bid even if they lose, according to today's commentators.

But they can also miss out on a bid given that Princeton, Ohio State, and Merrimack all still have the opportunity to play spoiler tomorrow.

I've been playing with YATC, and have reached the following conclusion:  There's a 75% chance we play Denver in Loveland and a 25% chance we play Providence in Worcester.

There are only two games that will influence where we play next week.  Those are the ECAC final and the NCHC final.  And the latter is key because Denver is the host in Loveland.

We are locked in at #11.  So if bracket integrity is key (and recently it has been), we will play the #6 team, unless #6 is Dartmouth.

1.  Dartmouth wins and Denver wins:

Denver will finish 5th and Dartmouth 6th.  Dartmouth goes to MSU regional likely in Worcester, and Denver gets Western Michigan in Loveland.

Since we can't play Dartmouth in the first round, they'll swap #11 and #12 and we'll play Denver in Loveland.

2.  Dartmouth wins and Denver loses:

Denver finishes 6th and Dartmouth finishes 7th (Duluth finishes 5th).  Western gets the Worcester regional with Duluth and MSU gets Loveland.  We play #6 Denver in Loveland.  Dartmouth goes to Sioux Falls with NoDak.

3.  Princeton wins and Denver wins:

Denver will finish 5th and Dartmouth 8th. Providence finishes 6th.  As before Denver gets Western in Loveland.  We get Providence in Worcester with MSU.  Dartmouth plays in Albany.

4.  Princeton wins and Denver loses:

Denver finishes 6th and Dartmouth finishes 8th (Duluth finishes 5th). As before, Western gets the Worcester regional with Duluth and MSU gets Loveland.  We play #6 Denver in Loveland.  Dartmouth plays in Albany.

FTR, Quinny always finishes 9th.  So if Dartmouth finishes 8th, Quinny will get swapped with the #10 team, Penn State.  Which means if Dartmouth loses, Quinny goes to Sioux Falls.

If Denver wins, Den 5, Dart 6, Prov 7, UMD 8. We're 11 so we get shuffled out of Dartmouth automatically, which means we get onto "mercy of the committee" rules. Then the committee can fuck around with us.

Dart needs to get either PSU or Wisconsin. They'll probably try to give Dart Wisconsin because 6-9 isn't super fair and the easiest shuffle is simply giving us Denver. That would give UMD-PSU and Prov-Quin.

If UMD wins, UMD 5, Den 6, Dart 7, Prov 8. So Dart-Quin needs to be shuffled, therefore Dart-PSU, Prov-Quin, and then UMD-Wisco, Den-us.

So... unless the committee wants to try to seed us out East (which I suspect they don't give a fuck about) we're playing Denver in Denver.

That's gonna suck!

If Denver wins, we get WMU as the 1 seed. If Denver loses, the 1 seed is Mich State.

But we'll see what happens.
