Quote from: Snowball on March 21, 2026, 10:45:18 PMSo Loveland, Colorado, altitude almost 5000 feet? Versus about 800 feet for Lynah rink? And we would play Denver whose players would be acclimatized to the altitude?

Hope the team can get there early and hydrate like crazy beforehand.
If Denver wins, Den 5, Dart 6, Prov 7, UMD 8. We're 11 so we get shuffled out of Dartmouth automatically, which means we get onto "mercy of the committee" rules. Then the committee can fuck around with us.

Dart needs to get either PSU or Wisconsin. They'll probably try to give Dart Wisconsin because 6-9 isn't super fair and the easiest shuffle is simply giving us Denver. That would give UMD-PSU and Prov-Quin.

If UMD wins, UMD 5, Den 6, Dart 7, Prov 8. So Dart-Quin needs to be shuffled, therefore Dart-PSU, Prov-Quin, and then UMD-Wisco, Den-us.

So... unless the committee wants to try to seed us out East (which I suspect they don't give a fuck about) we're playing Denver in Denver.

That's gonna suck!

If Denver wins, we get WMU as the 1 seed. If Denver loses, the 1 seed is Mich State.

But we'll see what happens.

Yep, that's what I see, although the committee could in theory swap us and Penn State to prevent two regionals with two Big Ten teams each, but history says we'll get screwed over.

And for those thinking about it, the air fares between New York and Denver doubled in the past week.  So if we end up in Loveland, I'm probably gonna give it a pass.

If Duluth wins Q at 9 draws Providence.

I'm thinking Michigan vs Bentley in Albany, with Providence and Q also as Michigan should pair with #8 Providence.

It could be Western Michigan in Colorado.  WM should as a 4 pair with Duluth 5 and Wisconsin 12. BUT Denver as a 6 n must be in Colorado and could simply replace Duluth.

Then in Worcester MSU vs UConn and instead of 6 Denver vs 11 Cornell it could be Duluth vs Cornell.

So I want Duluth to win the OT NCHC game.

Looks like Denver pulls it off in 2OT! We might avoid Loveland yet.

Since Denver won...

Michigan vs Bentley in Albany with 8 Duluth vs 9 PSU

Sioux Falls

N.Dak vs Merrimack and Providence vs Q is the by the numbers draw.

Worcester
MSU vs UConn should be with Dartmouth at 6 vs 11 Cornell.

Colorado
WestMich vs Minnesota St and 5 Denver vs 12 Wisconsin.

Cornell has to take either 9 PSU's slot or 12 Wisconsin's place.  So for attendance it might be we switch out with PSU.

I think Providence vs Q will be moved to Worcester.  So hopefully Dartmouth goes to Sioux Falls with PSU.

But realistically Dartmouth vs Wisconsin in Sioux Falls with PSU staying in Albany and Cornell sent to Colorado is very possible.

I think the main issue is just that attendance wise you want Cornell in Albany but that fucks with the bracket integrity too much for the committee to okay it.

I don't know - would we rather be playing Denver in Denver first before having to beat the western Michigan to get to the frozen four, or playing in Albany but needing to go through Michigan to get there?

Denver in Denver is a home game for them with altitude and travel issues. That sucks.

Albany means we go through either Providence or UMD and Michigan.

I'm seeing some interesting predictions online.  Several of them do predict having us in Albany against Providence or Duluth.

Personally, my predicted bracket is the same as Adam's at CHN, with us in Loveland against Denver.

Who is predicting Providence in Albany? I can see moving Providence east but they are naturally bracketed with Q. If one moves Providence for attendance then why not to Worcester with Q?

Us in Loveland against Denver is the easy swap and the logically most sensical if you want to do "pure bracket" bullshit. If you just take the bands and start moving shit around for attendance, you want Cornell in Albany or at least the east. That could give you:

Denver-Wisco in Loveland
Dart-PSU in Sioux Falls
UMD-Cornell in Albany
Prov-Q in Worcester

Alternatively, you rig it so you get PSU in Albany, put Cornell in Worcester, and then throw Prov-Q in SF. Or keep Prov-Q in Worcester and Cornell goes to SF with UMD. But if they do attendance rigging, they're almost certainly putting Cornell east and ideally want them in Albany.

Who realistically expects us to make it to the FF?

Hey guys, left field question that I may have missed being discussed elsewhere, but... I love lake placid but when ecacs are the same weekend as a can-am tournament and the final stop in the Nordic world cup, it makes it completely impossible to find somewhere to stay. It was very empty in the arena, but who the hell can pay 900/night for a hotel room? I know several people who planned to go then looked at prices and realized they couldn't.

Not I.

And so I turn to my secondary goals, namely not getting embarrassed in the opening round and Ben Robertson not winning a national championship.

I agree. Move it back to Albany, even though the arena is a dump.

The Arena is fine - the arena area is dumpy.
