Quote from: TrotskyPredictions for Cornellians in the draft, anyone?

1. Two recruits born a day apart (Betts and Limoges) will get drafted in succession.

2. Cornell's total will not equal the number of BU's first round selections.

The incoming recruiting class has been released on the Cornell Athletics website.

Noah Bauld, who was thought to be coming in 2017, is part of the incoming class.  No other surprises.

Interesting quote from Schafer in the release: "Gone are the days where you can physically punish teams, so now you have to intimidate with speed."

Maybe he's getting it, after all....   Let's wait & see if the results show on the scoreboard.   It will be fun to watch!!!

Personally, the only thing that (fake) miffs me is that we'll have a guy named Murphy.

(It was a recurring joke between a few of my friends given the number of rivals/refs named Murphy we got to hate in the mid-to-late '90s.)

Quote from: scoop85New recruit (for 2018-19) -- Josh Nelson, forward for the Chicago Fury U-18 team.  He's a draft pick of the Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL.

Unfortunately, Nelson recently signed with London (OHL).

Well, best of luck to him. But I will always wonder about the wisdom of passing up the college experience (at Cornell or elsewhere) to go the Major Junior route, especially for American kids.

A new commitment -- Peter Muzyka

Peter's a 16-year old 6'3" defenseman who's apparently "mobile" and an "effective puck mover." He'll be playing this year for the North York Rangers of the OJHL, and earlier this year was a 4th-round pick of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL.

I suppose it's good that we're getting commitments from these guys because that's the way college hockey is now and it would mean something was wrong if we weren't.  But we've seen enough guys decommit (both CU and elsewhere) that it's hard to really put any stock in a 16 year old.

Agreed -- recruiting has become extremely fluid given other college options, as well as the enticement of Major Juniors.

"Commited" should probably be renamed "interested."

But as you said, no matter how many decommit, to get them here they first have to show up as comm-, uh, interested.
