Quote from: TrotskyGetting towards the end of their season, we do seem to have some potential scorers in the pipeline.  It's anybody's guess if it will translate into D-1 production, but:

Proj Player, GP, G, (Proj: projection of player's G/GP percentage over a 35-game season)

32 Donaldson, 32, 29
23 Barron 65, 43
18 Malott, 50, 26
17 Betts, 57, 28
17 Mullin, 63, 30

What's the coefficient you have to multiple Proj by to get their D-1 production?  .7?  .5?  .3?  We'll see.

Well, according to the System(TM) c = (26-N)/26, where N is the alphabetical ordinal ranking of the first letter of Head Coach's last name (e.g., A=1, B=2, etc.).
I wish that would work.

Well, then the projected numbers would be:

8.6 Donaldson
6.2 Barron
4.8 Malott
4.8 Mullin

Not terrible, but not particularly impressive either. Be careful what you wish for.

He wishes it worked because he's an RPI fan and Appert starts with A ;)

Correct, of course. I guess that I could have been more specific.

Too bad Jack Parker couldn't have stuck around. BU has reloaded.

And BC gets #110, 141, 156, 166, 190, and the #5 goaltender. What's the matter with these kids? Don't they know the ECAC is now the dominant eastern league?

Speaking of the ECAC, Sucks picks up #50, 123, & 196. Yale gets #122 & 175. Clarkson, #138. Q gets #126. RIP, #185. These are the only ECAC teams I saw.

The Hockey News draft preview has Matthew Cairns ranked 84th of all players.  The brief write-up says "Big and fast.  Sometimes tries to do too much.  Cornell bound."

Alex Limoges, who's slated to enter Cornell in the fall of 2017, had a great rookie season and playoff (14 points in 11 playoff games) for Tri-City in the USHL as they won the Clark Cup. Encouraging to see such scoring prowess in what is widely recognized as the top Junior A league in North America.

Jeff Malott, who I believe is heading to Ithaca this fall, had 12 points in 13 playoff games for the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL, who lost in the semifinals of the RBC Cup, which is a "Tournament of Champions" for Canadian Junior A teams. Malott was his team's MVP during the regular season, with 60 points in 46 games.

Wait! Are you saying we're recruiting scorers? Schafer must go!

There are lots of kids that can score in juniors. But only a few have the inner talent to be molded into grind-it-out role players.

Hey, now.  We could corner the sow's ear market if we could just get our silk purse supply chain straightened out.
