The Rancor

shane hynes is playing D for Augusta??

calgARI '07

McKee could start today for Anaheim.  Bryzgalov is still hurt and Giguere is apparently "banged up" and would be playing his fourth game in six days tonight.  Mike Wall is now also up with the team as well.  If Giguere didn't play, I would expect Wall to play.

Wall is playing.  While I was watching, the camera panned over to David sitting on the bench.  The announcers went on to talk about his career at Cornell along with comparisons to Ken Dryden.   Nice!!

Yeah, saw it.  John Garrett asks sarcastically, "How many goalies from Cornell have ever made the NHL?" seeming to think that just Dryden had.  I mean how many CHL or NCAA teams have had as many goalies play in the NHL as Cornell has?

[Edit] Plus, you connect on one of three, in baseball you're in Cooperstown. With jokes, maybe you get to work a Carnival Cruise.
This badly misunderstands comedy on cruises. If you hit one of three you do not get the (well-paid, I've heard) cruise work. You just need to hit on almost all of your jokes. You just can't work blue - or even swear.
Cruise work is well paying? Perhaps it's stratified: Decent on the higher-end lines, but I can't imagine getting rich or even comfortable off the kinds of cruise lines with affordable fares. Based on my modest experience cruising, I agree the comedians have to play the middle and that includes not just language but the jokes themselves. They are for the little old lady from Dubuque. You can see the setup and then the approaching punch line obviously floats over the ... wait, tried that once already.

They mention Ken's undefeated season?

To answer John Garrett's question - So far 8 Cornell goalies have played at least one game in the NHL:

Ken Dryden          1971-1979         6 Stanley Cups
Brian Hayward       1983-1993
Darren Eliot        1985-1989
Doug Dadswell       1987-1988
Corrie D'Allesio    1993
Parris Duffus       1997
Jean-Marc Pelletier 1994, 2003-2004
David LeNeveu       2006

Not a bad list!!

You beat me to it :).

Underhill was playing for the Chicago Blackhawks. I had just moved to this hockey hellhole (IN) and was listening to the Blackhawk game through static on my car radio as I ran a few errands. It took a few minutes of play-by-play before I was sure I had heard the correct name through the static.

For Pelletier, I'm pretty sure you meant 1998/99, since 1994 would have preceded his time on the Hill.
Is next year here yet?

I can't find further info, but there's one report that McKee has been sent back down to Augusta.  Not a surprise.

Btw, call it the best case of right place, right time ever. Underhill was in the ECHL and 5th or 6th on their depth chart... only to see basically 4-5 goalies go down with injury in a short span, and get called all the way up to a start at the big club. At least he got a taste.
