Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
Correct. It may be assumed that many more will register than will actually pick up numbers.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
As of 3pm today (thurs, 9/21): Senior line number = ~140 Senior/Undergrad line number = ~355 Lower than what I expected, but then again there could be a late rush. Does anyone else feel that there has been a lot less hype about tickets around campus this year? Perhaps it's a combination of the price increase and a lower profile lottery (as compared with a real line). Or maybe it's my imby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Lynah Rink Renovation Blog - 17 years ago
I had the pleasure of passing Lynah today. Besides the heavy machinery, scaffolding, building materials, large holes in the ground, and fact that there are chunks of arena missing... I'd say we're pretty close to being done with renovations.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
I'll second that "no." On another note: A senior as well, I'm not all that comfortable with the consecutive tickets idea. I seem to remember packs of about 20 freshman at once going down to the line or whatever it was in 2003-2004. If too many pre-register you can likely see entire freshman sections.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
Yeah... statistically speaking it's equal chance no matter what line number you hold (assuming they wrap around and actually pick at random)by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
Two years ago was good... efficient, easy. Not perfect, but definitely good enough I thought. Unforunately last year those lazy s at athletics decided to sit on their asses in Lynah, where half the students were just hanging around anyway. Apparently Cornell's campus isn't big enough for them.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: What's the word on Moulson? - 17 years ago
Yeah, enough with this class for hockey players business.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: hockey team summer recreation - 17 years ago
Yeah... we've lost enough to the NHL. Joking aside, those gorges are mean. I slipped on a rock and landed on my back. Granted it's obviously better than drowning, but still dangerous. Drinking at Dunbar's is a much safer activity.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: The Schafer system - 17 years ago
Yeah, definitely. I was really referring to this past season... calling the PP ineffective would be an understatement in my opinion. I think a large part of the problem was the lack of a forward (some may call it a "lack of Hynes" setting up in front of the net and drawing one of the penalty killers away from our guys down low or the puck. The result, few opportunities and even fewer shoby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: The Schafer system - 17 years ago
Sarcasm aside... shooting the puck in college hockey (good shots or not) scores goals, as opposed to passing back and forth at the blue line until it jumps over someone's stick and clears the zone. I always leave the games bitching about how the other teams goals were garbage... this season, we may need some garbage goals.by Cactus12 - Hockey

Re: O'Byrne goes pro - 17 years ago
There aren't DI guys just hanging around campus hoping to walk-on. I don't necessarily agree with that... there are some guys (maybe not thinking pro-sports before college) who have significant talent, but just haven't played in highly recruited junior leagues or were not interested in going to college for sports. It happens in football all the time. Wayne Chrebet, as a completely random exaby Cactus12 - Hockey

I think we should start posting flyers around campus... "WANTED- Hockey Defensemen, Experience Preferred, Inquire at Athletic Office"by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Romano in the news - 17 years ago
It seems like many of the freshman coming in are offensively minded, which as you pointed out, we certainly can use. Of the upperclassmen, I think McCutcheon is going to be an impact player, even moreso than last year. I could also see Barlow doing some damage.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: CU to charge students for athletic events - 17 years ago
You seem to repeatedly miss the point- I'd rather Lynah packed with people who care about Cornell HOCKEY... I (and many others) have no interest in attending many other Cornell athletic events and couldn't care less about the athletics dept. administration. They're inept as far as ticket distribution is concerned. A Cornell Hockey fan should have access to tickets based on devotion to the hockeby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: CU to charge students for athletic events - 17 years ago
CUontheslopes... Your point is idiotic. The degree to which a student follows Cornell lacrosse, basketball, or football has ABSOLUTELY ZERO bearing on how big a Cornell hockey fan he or she is. I know many die-hard Cornell HOCKEY fans that neither claim nor desire to be "die-hard Cornell" sports fans. If you want to be, that is your perogative. Furthermore, many of the real Lynah Faiby Cactus12 - Hockey
Staying or Going? - 17 years ago
This is just a thread for some thoughts and speculation... Is O'Byrne going to stay? Any other surprise signings? Competitive or rebuilding? (I know it's early to tell...)by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Sasha Pokulok signs with the Capitals - 17 years ago
I think Sasha is a really big loss (not surprising though). He's taken a lot of criticism on this thread, but I think he brought a certain level of talent to the defense. When he's on, things happen offensively too (well...maybe not on the PP). I wouldn't be at all surprised to see O'Byrne leave too. Hopefully the freshmen can step up.by Cactus12 - Hockey

Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, game 1 postgame - 18 years ago
Way too much time has been spent dwelling on this... Elynah.com... this is a forum to talk about CORNELL hockey, hence the lynah. The fact of the matter is that most cornell fans don't give a shit about leggio, much less want to complement him- if they do acknowledge him at all, that's their perogative. If you want to talk about clarkson's strong points start your own forum, ehack.com, or whateveby Cactus12 - Hockey
