Men's Basketball at Columbia: Cornell Fan Section? - 16 years ago
I am going to order 6 tickets for the Cornell game at Columbia this Saturday night. Does anyone know where the visiting fans usually sit, so I can make sure to buy tickets in the correct section? Thanks, and let's go Red!by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Screw BU chant confusion - 16 years ago
I've been told that "Sucks to BU" is a BC chant. I have no problem appropriating it tomorrow.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: MLax: Cornell 17 @ Dartmouth 3 (FINAL) - 17 years ago
I seem to remember that a couple of years ago, Swami was high on Cornell when no one else was and the Big Red surprised most people by going deep into the NCAA tournament. Just want to point out that he hasn't always had an anti-Cornell "bias".by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Mel Kiper on Kevin Boothe - 18 years ago
Just out of curiousity, how does one get on the draft board? Do you have to declare yourself eligible? To me, in theory, the NFL teams should be able to draft any player they want. I take it that is not the case.by djk26 - Other Sports
Boothe to the Raiders - 18 years ago

NY Times article on Cornell's image committee - 18 years ago
Very surprised to see this hasn't been posted yet: Personally, I think Cornell's image is fine...very well respected. Although I do like those "C" logoed items. Anything with a classic look like that is pretty cool.by djk26 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Cornell-Wisconsin postgame thread (post-season thread?) NCAA quarterfinals 2006 - 18 years ago
I've been wondering this for awhile...why is Harvard known as the "Cantabs"? (I like "Can'tadvs" better... ) But I'm wondering where "Cantabs" comes from?by djk26 - Hockey
Minnesota - 18 years ago
I don't think this will make anyone feel better, but I rememember Minnesota being SCARY good that year. I think they proved that they were the best team in the country. But yeah, of course I wish Cornell could have beaten New Hampshire and gotten their shot at Minnesota and a chance to prove that THEY were the best. Ugh...that disallowed goal...by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Colgate at Riviera in NYC - 18 years ago
jmh, I'm planning on being there, possibly with one or two others. Looking forward to actually seeing a game.by djk26 - Hockey

Denver wins 2nd Straight Championship - 19 years ago
Denver won tonight, 4-1 to capture their second straight national championship. The year after DU last won back-to-back titles... Well. A good omen.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Return the FF consolation game - 19 years ago
Bill, I totally agree. I would have loved to see a Cornell/Michigan game in 2003. I notice that there was a 3rd place game as recently as 1989 (when a certain unnamed team won it all ) Does anyone have any idea why the consolation game was dropped? Was it because the players/coaches/fans weren't up for it? The game probably wouldn't be on ESPN, and I know that most of the other champioby djk26 - Hockey
Re: OT: Lax vs. Penn - 19 years ago
Oh man, this is hilarious...they left the microphone on during the commercials and you can hear the announcer arguing with his daughter about giving her $10 to buy hot chocolate, and not getting any change. Anyone else hear this?by djk26 - Hockey
ECAC Final in NYC? - 19 years ago
Is there any place people are planning to gather on Saturday night in New York to watch the ECAC Final? ELynah is usually where I read about stuff like this, but I have not seen anything yet. EDITED TO ADD: Ignore this thread...I thought I an error message when I posted the first time, but I guess it came through ok.by djk26 - Hockey

Thanks...that makes a lot more sense. I see how that could be a big advantage.by djk26 - Hockey
Last line change? - 19 years ago
Hi all, I'm a big fan of Cornell hockey, but I don't follow hockey generally. Therefore, I am confused by some of the terminology. I often hear that the home team gets the "last line change". What does that mean? At the last game I attended (Cornell at Harvard), the players came on and off ice seemingly whenever the coach dictated. I know that there are unlimited substitutions iby djk26 - Hockey
Re: Conference championship games - 20 years ago
Oh nooooooo...with Cornell out of it, I was hoping UMass (my sister's school) could reach the NCAAs. Oh well, congrats to the Minutemen on an awesome season...the best in their history. And I remember Cornell losing a tough championship overtime game to Harvard two years ago, and then rebounding to win the ECAC tournament next year.by djk26 - Hockey
OT: John Kerry, Yale hockey player? - 20 years ago
I don't mean for this thread to be at all political, just curious about something... I've seen old pictures of John Kerry in a hockey uniform at Yale. Was he on the "varsity"...i.e., Division I, intercollegiate squad? Did he play any games at Cornell? Thanks for satisfying my curiousity.by djk26 - Hockey
McKee Named Freshman of the Month - 20 years ago
Didn't see this posted anywhere else...but congrats to David McKee, who is having a solid rookie year. He'll be named to the all-conference rookie team for sure (kinda by default, actually, he's the only ECAC goaltending frosh getting any significant minutes.) He's also 10th nationally in GAA. Way to go!by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Harvard in NYC - 20 years ago
Lowell, I'll be there, too...sounds like the group shouldn't be hard to find. I haven't seen a Cornell game since last year's national semis, so I'm looking forward to it! Thanks for organizing this.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Go Big Red (Long Post) - 20 years ago
Thank you for the kind words, Steve. Your son had a great collegiate career and I'm sure he'll make a fine pro.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: OT - CU Basketball - 20 years ago
I'd love to see the Big Red win the Ivy title this year, but based on the win totals of the last three seasons (7, 5, 8), you have to figure it will be tough. I'll freely admit I know next to nothing about Ivy League hoops, but from what I've read on the Internet (hey, why not?), I gather that the following is conventional wisdom: 1) The favorites this year are perennial powers Princeton and Peby djk26 - Hockey

Re: Austin - 21 years ago
Catherine... Contact Byron at blh16@cornell.edu. He goes to UT-Austin law school and he's watched CU hockey games down there before...he'd be able to let you know what's going on. (BTW, I asked his permission before posting this. ) Enjoy the games!by djk26 - Hockey
Re: On Fox NY Now (9PM EST) - 21 years ago
Ok, so this game is being broadcast 5.5 hrs+ after it ended. However, I give FSNY credit (or, probably more accurately, NCAA Productions or whoever is producing the game) for using the old Cornell logo instead of the "huggy bear".by djk26 - Hockey
Re: T.V. Schedule - 21 years ago
Yep...the game is on NOW (9 p.m. on FSNY) (at least in the Hoboken, NJ area) Oh well. Like I said, I'm just happy we're in the Frozen Four! (couldn't get away without using a smiley)by djk26 - Hockey
Re: T.V. Schedule - 21 years ago
I tuned in to FSNY at 3:30 to see that the Devils game wasn't over. Okay, fine. Waited ten minutes for them to wrap up their inane postgame nonsense. Then at 3:40 a college hockey game comes on...Michigan vs. CC, towards the end of the first period. In short, FSNY did not show a tape delayed Cornell game at 3:30, as I assumed they would. SOOO...I skipped live audio at noon so I'd be "by djk26 - Hockey

Okay I can't figure out how to edit... What worried me about the page that is "join in progress clearence"...does that just mean tape delay?by djk26 - Hockey
