Re: 2015! - 9 years ago
semsox I would imagine a trip back to Charlottesville as well to play UVA I think the UVA series is done, though, since Cornell played them on the road in 2013 and at home in 2014by djk26 - Other Sports
2015! - 9 years ago
I wish I had a Cornell lacrosse game to watch this weeked. But there isn't one, so I'm looking forward to 2015. Too early, maybe, but here's my question: Does anyone have any information on who the out of conference opponents will be next year? I assume we will have a home date with Michigan after playing them on the road this year. Does that apply to Hofstra, too? And we play Hobartby djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2014 - 10 years ago
Thanks, semsox. I forgot that there would be more than 2 teams in the tie. I'm going to go out an a limb and say that you are from Boston based on the "sox" in your user name. If so, happy Patriots Day. If not, happy Patriots Day anyway.by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2014 - 10 years ago
CU77 We're now down to Y>H: C-Pe-Y-H H>Y: H-C-Pe-Y Go Elis! What is the tiebreaker if Cornell and Harvard both lose this week? This would make them both 4-2 in the league, with Harvard beating Cornell head to head. From reading a thread from a few years ago, I thought the first tiebreaker was head to head result, but is it actually record against teams in the tournament?by djk26 - Other Sports

Watching tonight's playoff game in NYC? - 14 years ago
Anyone know of a place where one could watch the game tonight? I heard that Ship of Fools isn't having it.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Call for poll ideas - 14 years ago
Age, how about a metapoll of what should be the next poll question? Actually, failing that, I really like ftyuv's idea.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: ECAC's moving to Atlantic City in 2011 - 14 years ago
If we just need a place with a casino, I suggest Montreal. Half the players are Canadian, anyway. And now for some Sun bashing... This article says that the tournament will be in AC starting in 2010.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Kevin Boothe - 14 years ago
Here's an article about Giants players razzing each other re: college football. Kevin Boothe is quoted, talking about Cornell and tbe Ivy League, New York Times articleby djk26 - Other Sports

Thanks for all your research and hard work, CornellFan. (Wanted to get that in before all the complaints about your blog started)by djk26 - Other Sports
Re: Seibald wins Tewaaraton - 14 years ago
Didn't see this posted elsewhere... Max's winning of the Tewaaraton earned him a mention (and a picture) in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" (along with the women's winner from Northwestern.)by djk26 - Other Sports

You're right, Al, NHL success is how I was defining it.by djk26 - Hockey
Re: Joe Nieuwendyk named Dallas Stars General Manager - 14 years ago
Good for Joe, the best skater* to ever play at Cornell. *I want to specify all players not including goalies--i.e., Dryden. What term is used for that in hockey? There's "position players" for all non-pitcher in baseball...which doesn't make a lot of sense, since "pitcher" is most certainly a baseball position.by djk26 - Hockey

Chris, just curious, what do you mean by his team literally quitting on him?by djk26 - Hockey
Re: WSJ Ivy League Sports Article - 14 years ago
ugarte, you put and better and more succinctly than I could, but this is exactly what I was thinking. I think the Ivy League (and of course Cornell) should be quite proud of its accomplishments over the past decade or so.by djk26 - Hockey

Re: TBRW Awards - 15 years ago
Greg, for those of us who don't know, can you explain the Damian Rocke reference? I see from the collge hockey database that he appeared in one game in 1996-1997 and had 15 penalty minutes. How did he manage that?by djk26 - Hockey
Re: TBRW Awards - 15 years ago
Greg, You're a Cornell hockey mastermind, as always. I don't know enough about the players to nominate someone for every award, but I must nominate Evan Barlow for the Leadership and Passion Award. The amazing run he had through the ECACs and NCAAs was nothing short of inspiring. He'll be missed next year. Scrappiness and Effort: Riley Nash. He doesn't fit the profile for this one, sincby djk26 - Hockey

A little more information up-front would drive people to this site for the full story. One might be tempted to go to Google news and key in "Mugford Cornell" and click on the first site that's not this one.by djk26 - Hockey

"From the list of names 68 below, please cast your vote the six best position players and two goalies for each gender of the East team and each gender of the West team. Fans will only be able to submit a vote once." This was clearly written by someone for whom English is a second, or possibly third, language.by djk26 - Hockey
