Re: Atlantic City-ECAC hockey attendance fiasco - 13 years ago
billhoward Josh '99 billhoward It's possible the ECAC in its mind transferred the popularity of the Frozen Four and its year-in-advance sellouts to the ECAC finals even though that was not the case in Albany (geographical center of the ECAC) or Lake Placid (a spiritual center for USA hockey). So... why would they "transfer" that, then? You ever been in a situation where you think, &quoby kingpin248 - Hockey

The ECAC schoolS' banners were opposite the A10 ones, above the heads of most of the Cornell fans. Aside from that, every other one of Jeff's statements is on point.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros - January 2011 - 13 years ago
Chris Botta makes the case for extending Moulson's contract. He proposes three years in the region of $3.5 million per year. The comments are running overwhelmingly in favor.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Math thread - 13 years ago
jkahnI don't see any relationship between my comment and Greg's comment here. True. My bad. nr53I've wondered for the past few years what the NHL standings would look like using KRACH I do the pro leagues too! 2010-11 NHL. The records given in this table don't match the NHL standings; they are W-L-T, and do not include shootout results or account for the overtime loser point.by kingpin248 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Math thread - 13 years ago
TrotskyInteresting that Carberry has the Big 12 as the best conference despite not having a member in the top 8. I guess it's like golf -- have the best worst hole. jkahnthe small sample size plays havoc with the ratios Greg is right here. The conference rating is simply the average of the non-conference RRWPs of the conference's teams (listed under 'nCWP' in my tables). The Big 12 has eightby kingpin248 - John Spencer Is Dead

2010-11 NCAA Division I basketball composite schedule This is the source data for my Bradley-Terry ratings. I PM'd this link to JTW soon after this thread started, but I wanted to throw it out there for everyone now that I know the link is good (confirmed with the season having started last night).by kingpin248 - Other Sports

Re: Non-hockey alumni in the pros - 13 years ago
A few notes from the Major League Lacrosse playoffs this past weekend: Max Seibald had two goals for Denver in a semifinal loss to Long Island. Ryan McClay's Boston Cannons also came up short against Baltimore Washington Chesapeake. During the championship game (won by Chesapeake), the announcers said that John Glynn didn't dress for Long Island in either the semi or the final. They didn'tby kingpin248 - Other Sports

Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
ugarte Trotsky Oh St. Joe's, how quickly they forget... #3 for St. Joe's (good catch, Jeff). One great run with Jameer Nelson and Delonte West doesn't surpass what Cheney did over decades while at Temple, just like Cornell won't be the plum Ivy job if Donahue leaves. I'd go with Pitt above St. Joe's; they've had a run of pretty good success in the last decade or so, including an Elite Eight lasby kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Odds that Donahue stays? - 14 years ago
billhoward Parts of this discussion seems to think that Steve Donahue is only suited to coaching Ivy Leaguers, that he might not be able to coach students lacking 1950 SATs, that the other schools want someone who's paid his dues at a better than mid-major school. I hope he stays. I think he's qualified to coach most anywhere. FYP. The SAT has had a maximum score of 2400 since 2005. In fact, 13by kingpin248 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell vs. Union - 14 years ago
DeltaOne81 RedAR If I'm not mistaken, I think Cornell won the ECAC's when the championships first moved to Albany. So, a fitting end to an era, winning the last ECAC's in Albany. Of course, feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. You are correct. 2003. In what to me still has to be probably the most incredible game ever . Agreed. Even seven years later, still the most memorable sports eventby kingpin248 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio shand35 Who scored the ENG?Looked like P. Kennedy. Shot went the length of the ice from the corner to Scrivens's left. I'm guessing he was just trying to get it out of the zone. Indeed, it was P. Kennedy.by kingpin248 - Hockey
