Re: PWR after Friday - 22 years ago
With all Friday results now in, Cornell still sits seventh.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Yale v. Cornell - 3/8/02 - 22 years ago
I don't think it was an hour of extra music. A half hour, maybe. After the "Schafer" victory song, the Cornell band decided not to stay, but as it was leaving, Schafer was walking up to the hockey office and insisted that we play the last song. Four songs from each band (and one Swanee from our tubas) later, we jointly agreed to play "Paradise City" together and end it.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: ECAC first round - 22 years ago
All games are NHL-style format - if they go to OT, the last shot wins. It has been this way since 2000. (If it weren't, the first game of last year's Princeton series would have ended tied, as Kozier's game-winner was at 7:25 of the overtime.)by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Breakdown - 22 years ago
It probably does go to money. I can't think of any other reason. The money argument also makes sense when you consider the coming expansion of the ECAC playoffs, so that the top eight teams host series. At least the important games are played at neutral sites. In basketball, with the advent of ESPN's "Championship Week" where they televise every conference's final, the self-proclaimby kingpin248 - Hockey

Cornell remains #8 in USA Today. In that poll, Maine is below the Big Red (as opposed to being at #7 in USCHO).by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: 2 NCAA bids for the MAAC - 22 years ago
I seriously doubt the selection committee will give the MAAC two bids, especially given the out-of-conference record you mentioned. That is why the NCAA has a "cover-our-rear-end" clause at its disposal: "In addition to revising one of its selection criteria, the committee noted that it reserves the right to evaluate each team based on the relative strength of their respective coby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Ivy Title - 22 years ago
Hopefully the coming change in playoff format will give the ECAC an opportunity to rethink its tiebreaker system. The tiebreakers used to be record against the top four and top eight, then were changed to top five and ten. So what's next - top six and top (or bottom) twelve? This is what I would like to see: (1) Head-to-head record. (2) Wins. (This is actually the first tiebreaker in the NHLby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Ivy Title - 22 years ago
Cornell wins the Ivy title outright if it beats Dartmouth next Friday night. The Red would then have 15 league points, and no other team would be able to get as high as 13.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: TV schedule? - 22 years ago
Two words: Lake Placid. There is no ECAC television package this year, but the championship tournament will be broadcast, probably on NESN and Empire (that's where it has been in the past).by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Harvard vs. Northeastern - 22 years ago
I believe the RPI breakdown for college hockey is 35-50-15, for win %, opponent's win %, and opponent's opponent's win %, respectively.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Krzysztof Wieckowski - 22 years ago
FYI, the scoring on last night's second goal was changed well after the end of the game. The goal goes to Downs (his first collegiate goal), with Wieckowski getting the assist. At this point, I can't think of anyone more deserving of most improved honors.by kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Penalties - 22 years ago
The box score at collegehockeystats.com does indeed say that five players on each side were given two for roughing and ten-minute misconducts. Everyone should be good to go tmorrow night.by kingpin248 - Hockey
