Re: 3/15 scores from other Conferences - 16 years ago
Just got back from the Whittemore Center...very impressed with UNH's win. The Wildcats were getting better chances, and more importantly, finishing them (though they only outshot UMass 42-39). They converted twice on an early five-minute major, and it was all downhill from there for the Minutemen. Two Wildcat hat tricks tonight; the second, by Fornataro (their captain), was sealed with a beautifuby kingpin248 - Hockey

The WCHA has ten teams, but all ten make the tournament (they were the first to use the dreaded Final Five format). The CCHA has twelve teams, and all twelve make that conference's postseason as well; they use a "Super Six" with two play-in games to determine the final two semifinalists. The only conference that does not send all its teams to the conference tournament is Hockey East, anby kingpin248 - Hockey

It's also been a long time since Cornell's overall record was below .500 - since November 17, 2000. The next night the Big Red beat Brown 2-0 to get back to 2-2-1, and stayed at or above .500 until Saturday night's loss.by kingpin248 - Hockey

I was at last night's Florence @ South Carolina game - Mark McRae got plenty of ice time. He was used mostly at left defense on the third blueline pair. He had a few good scoring chances, was the recipient of several hard hits. He wasn't on the ice for any of the goals against (the Stingrays won 3-0). links to Section 25 of the New York Arts and Cultural Affairs law. There appears to have been a modification which took effect on June 1 of this year. Specifically, section 25.13 states, in short, that a ticket may not be sold for more than two dollars (plus taxes) over and above the original price. Also, this "maximum premium" must be printed on the ticket.by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: Chabot and Chabot? - 21 years ago
The Georges Vezina Trophy has been given since 1927, a year after its namesake (the Canadiens great of the 1910's and 1920's) died of tuberculosis. Until 1980, it was given to the principal goalies on the team that allowed the fewest goals during the regular season. Lorne Chabot won the trophy in 1935 playing for Chicago, with a 1.83 GAA that season. Post Edited (05-10-03 21:48)by kingpin248 - Hockey

They certainly are screwed up. The selection show was scheduled for 8:00 - it didn't go off until 8:45. Not only that, a bracket was posted on the NCAA website at 7:30 - and it was the wrong bracket. As for the ratings. For those interested, the RPI is available at . CU finished #12 in the final RPI, and in fact beat one team ranked above it (Penn State at #11), while not losing to anyone raby kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: [OT] Lax - it's a whole new ballgame... - 21 years ago
The draw does seem like a bad way to break a tie, but it only comes into play because a number of other tiebreakers are exhausted. As "Retired03" explained on the LaxPower forum: ...there are tie breakers in the Ivy League for NCAA AQ (but not for the league title). However, the first NCAA tie breaker is head to head which will not yield a winner here because each team has beaten oneby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: [OT] Lax - it's a whole new ballgame... - 21 years ago
As in hockey, the lacrosse championship expands to 16 this year, up from 12. Nine of the 16 bids go to at-large teams. As for whether we can get an at-large bid, that's a murkier question, especially because the lacrosse selection criteria are much more subjective than those for hockey. [OT] Lax - it's a whole new ballgame... - 21 years ago
Cornell crushed Brown 14-4 in Providence today, and thus finishes 5-1 in conference. This gives the Big Red its first share of an Ivy title since 1987, thanks to Princeton's 13-6 home loss to Dartmouth today. Princeton and Dartmouth each have their Ivy finales next weekend, and both are at home (Princeton hosts Brown, while Dartmouth takes on Harvard).
