Re: Cornell Women's Ice Hockey: March 2012 - 12 years ago
Greenberg '97 Are we heading to the third overtime? Can't get the video to load from the link. Yes, we are. Now the longest game in Lynah history, breaking the previous record, held by last night's men's game.by kingpin248 - Hockey

billhoward 1-Union vs 10-RPI 2-Cornell vs 9-Dartmouth 3-Harvard vs 6-Yale 4-Colgate vs 5-Quinnipiac The most delicious weekend in Atlantic City would be for the top 3 or top 4 seeds to advance in the QFs, Cornell to have the late game Friday, take down Harvard, and then beat Union Saturday for the title. Union deserves at shot at the NCAAs and might be good enough to advance past the fiby kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: cornell basketball at maryland, tickets from Cornell still available - 12 years ago
nyc94 ugarteBracketologists have Harvard as an 9/10 because they performed well against a tough schedule. How tough was it? Seriously, I have no idea from looking at it. How does it compare with Cornell's 2010 schedule? According to the Bradley-Terry: Harvard 2012, through February 29: SOS 148.95, ranked 127th Cornell 2010, through March 14 (Selection Sunday): SOS 247.20, ranked 101stby kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell 4 St. Lawrence 3 (ot) - 12 years ago
KeithK When your team has been a perennial bottom feeder throughout its D1 existence, I can see h finishing first will mean an awful lot. But then, I'm all for bringing back the Clarkson and CC rules (or some variant thereof). Not only this, there was a time (about eight years ago) and a place (the Union president's office) when the Dutchmen going almost .500 was a source of tremendous pride anby kingpin248 - Hockey
Re: Lacrosse 2012 - 12 years ago
Full list of players taken in the draft. Two other Cornellians were taken, both in the sixth round: Chris Langton (42nd overall by Ohio) and J. J. Gilbane (48th overall by Boston).by kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Columbia football aftermath - 12 years ago
To top it off, Columbia defeats Brown 35-28 in 2OT to avert a winless season and snap a ten-game losing streak, dating back to their victory over Cornell last year.by kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Some "D" in Cornell or Penn - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio Trotsky Now up 48-38. Mathews with 548 yards passing according to ESPN.Add 86 passing yards for Tasker and you get 634 total. Yikes! I think the Tasker yardage might be an error. The play-by-play lists Cornell getting a "91 yard false start penalty" a few plays before Tasker's pass. 48-38 is the final. First victory over Penn since 2006 and first non-losing season sinceby kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Scandal at Penn State - 12 years ago
scoop85 Spanier has got to go -- ultimate accountability rests with him. As for Paterno, he should have been gone awhile ago for other reasons, but now there's no way he should get a pass. I fully agree that Spanier must go, and I would hope that Penn Staters who really love the school would suspend donations until he is out. Paterno will retire at the end of this season; statement via ESPNby kingpin248 - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: A new home for the Big Red Bands - 12 years ago
At the luncheon to kick off the fundraising campaign during Homecoming, band alumni were told that it would be just to the north-northeast of the Schoellkopf Garage, where the trucks and equipment can be seen in that map. There was even a "Future Home of the Big Red Bands" banner on the fence during the tailgate.by kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: David Einhorn '91 buying minority stake in the Mets - 12 years ago
The deal between Einhorn and the Mets is off, with the main sticking point being Einhorn's potential path to majority control of the team.by kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: 2011-12 student season tickets - 12 years ago
ajh258 Well... the tickets are cheaper now, but not by much. $234 is down from $254 last season. Looks like section B remains to be assigned seating. The tickets cost less because there are two fewer games than last year. The per-game price remains the same ($13).by kingpin248 - Hockey

Re: NCAA Lax scores - 12 years ago
Maryland becomes the first unseeded team to win in the first round, defeating UNC 13-6. That game included an execution of the "hidden-ball trick" for a goal by Maryland that completely fooled the ESPN cameramen, as well as the Tar Heels' defense. After a weather delay, they're underway in Charlottesville; late in the first quarter, Bucknell leads Virginia 4-1. Updates here.by kingpin248 - Other Sports

Ronald '09 kingpin248 Ronald '09 Jeff Hopkins '82 Actually, I think the UVa - Bucknell match might be really interesting. I think Bucknell has a reasonable chance at the upset there. FWIW, anybody know anthing about Hartford, other than it's the capital of Connecticut? If you say it really fast, it sounds like Harvard. They're called the Hawks, wear red, and have a really good faceoff guy.by kingpin248 - Other Sports

Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio Once again, the 11:30 RedCast isn't up yet at 11:42. From cornellbigred.com: "Live video will not be available through RedCast due to ESPN's exclusive broadcast rights." (Edit: it says there is RedCast audio, which could be faulty as it always seems to be.)by kingpin248 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
Ronald '09 Josh '99 billhoward First the small matter of getting past Brown Saturday. Cornell's senior class came up short the last trip to Providence and is 2-2 (including a playoff game) vs. Brown. A win gives Cornell the Ivy League regular season title and puts the Ivy playoffs in Ithaca. Fixed, as was already discussed upthread. We just clinched home field in the Ivy League automatic bid toby kingpin248 - Other Sports

Jeff Hopkins '82 ebilmes We're #1 in the computer rankings... We've been 1, 2, or 3 in that all season. And unlike PWR, I'm pretty sure that ranking bears no resemblance to the actual seedings. I was thinking the same thing. Also bearing no resemblance to seedings is the Bradley-Terry, in which Cornell is ranked fourth. Re: Cornell-Harvard lacrosse - 13 years ago
LaxPower reports Brown 13, Penn 12 and Yale 9, Dartmouth 7 (both final). I believe Cornell has thus clinched a share of the regular season title, and need only win one of the remaining two league games to bring the Ivy League tournament to Ithaca.by kingpin248 - Other Sports
