Re: 2010 NCAA hockey regional ticket situation - 14 years ago
Ugh, this is a pain in the ass. First, the lack of a student ticket price. Last year you could purchase a $60 all-session student pass for Grand Rapids, which was only like $10 more than the cost of a single game ticket. Second, the inability to purchase single-session tickets from the Cornell ticket office. If you only want to go for one day, you have to buy through Tickets.com, which addsby ebilmes - Hockey

Schafer - 14 years ago
Schafer, to no one's surprise, likes being out east: Cornell coach Mike Schafer said he was pleased to stay East for a change — the team's last three NCAA appearances were out West. "We're familiar with UNH, and obviously that gives our guys some confidence," Schafer said. His team also just won a championship in the same building, the Times Union Center. Nothing yet on the Cornell site. If you're a student, and there's a student rate, I would highly recommend purchasing tickets from Cornell. Once they send back their allotment, you can no longer get the cheaper rate.by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: Markell out at Ohio State - 14 years ago
BigRedNH I would think that both Jones and Garrow are candidates for the jobs at OSU and WMU. Roll was mentioned for Bowling Green since he is an alum. Not sure what more Jones and Garrow need to do to get a head coaching job. I would think that unless a name steps forward Cornell might be forced to hire some new assistants... Jones would certainly be a candidate for OSU. Brekke and Garrow sby ebilmes - Hockey

That cheer comes out almost every game in the A/B area. It pisses me off when people do it when the score is 0-0 or 1-0 or something like that. Well... heh. andyw2100 So Elie--what were you saying? Thanks! I'm hoping the new guy will get on here soon to introduce himself. I made a similar speech to what Ari and Doug did the last couple of times; I thanked the Lynah Faithful, announced my own record of going to games (78 of last 81), and singled out a few people who made a strong effort to get to games. I then announced that I was passing down thby ebilmes - Hockey

Student season tickets automatically include the playoff games, so it's just the Townies who would be opting out. I thought tickets wouldn't go on sale until tomorrow morning, as per usual, so I was surprised to find out last week that they were on sale already.by ebilmes - Hockey

Re: Opinion Piece: A Little Perspective - 14 years ago
As the person who has used "relative mediocrity" as a term to describe this year's team, I would like to make a few points. First, there is a clear difference between "mediocre" and "relative mediocrity," and I'm not sure everyone understands it. This year's team is certainly not "mediocre;" they finished second in the conference and currently sit at #10by ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell women's hockey in the NCAAs - 14 years ago
upperdeck it is intesting to see a team beat a team head 2 head, win the league and playoff titles and get seeded behind them.. do they use a pwr formula as well? and harvard was 3rd in the league as well.. I was wondering the same thing. Harvard wins RPI and TUC, Cornell wins COp and H2H (but only gets one point 1-0-1). Comparison goes to Harvard. Similar to the men's side, the TUC compariby ebilmes - Other Sports

Re: Letter from MetaEzra - 14 years ago
Yeah, there's a lot which can be said about this. I don't think Sec. A tickets even sold out this year, and a lot of the people who have seats there tend to move into B. Hardly any students show up to watch a substantial part of warmups. Attendance always dips a little during pledging/mixer season, and the relative mediocrity of this year's team compared to those of 4-7 years ago also plays a rolby ebilmes - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 Quinnipiac 0, post game - 14 years ago
Highlight of the game was when D'Agostino was whistled for tripping. He calmly skated to the bench, and Chris Moulson (who may not have been on the ice at the time) goes over to the penalty box. Hilarious. Cornell up to No. 8 in Pairwise... wow.by ebilmes - Hockey
