Re: 2015-16 All-Ivy: Reece Willcox - 8 years ago
Trotsky dbilmes When was the last time Brown had more All-Ivy players than Cornell?2013. I believe All-Ivy only depends on performance in Ivy League games. So a mediocre team could have better representation if they happened to play very well in Ivy games.by KeithK - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Trotsky I'd love to see another bona fide scoring line emerge (I mean, who wouldn't?) to complement JAM. Call me crazy but I'd like to see Yates center for Rauter and Tschantz, if only to see what a line with absolutely no defensive ability or inclination looks like. But it would probably give Mike an aneurysm. But then we'd get a new coach so some folks might support this plan.by KeithK - Hockey

Jim Hyla I still don't understand how people can still imply that Schafer hasn't changed. It's easy to ignore the changes when you are frustrated with the results. Especially when the process doesn't match what onlookers would like to see. While Cornell has certainly changed it's sty;e of play over Schafer's tenure I think it's clear that Mike will always be a defense first coach. That's easy toby KeithK - Hockey
Re: Future Coaching? - 8 years ago
Dafatone This isn't to say Schafer should necessarily stay. I'd keep him, but I kinda hate change. Just keep in mind that a couple years slightly under .500 aren't the end of the world. Particularly when most of us were expecting a .500-ish team coming into this season. The distribution of wins got our hopes up early and then dashed them in the second half.by KeithK - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Begins - 8 years ago
marty The tournament included 12 teams from 1988-2001. Four teams received byes for the first round of the tournament. There were two formats over this span. A big reason for the change to 16 was when the "fifth" league - now known as Atlantic Hockey - finally received its automatic bid. With a likely increase in the number of Division One teams in the near future, we will never seeby KeithK - Hockey
Re: Bracketology Begins - 8 years ago
BearLover Less than 16 means either conference champs wouldn't get in or many deserving teams wouldn't make it. I disagree. Teams 13-16 (or more likely 11-14) hardly "deserve" a chance to play for the national championship. Besides, IMO it's always better to leave out a few worthy teams than to have a bigger field and invite the unworthy. (BTW - I consider the conference champions &by KeithK - Hockey

Trotsky It would cost a ton, but if we devoted comparable resources to HYP we would probably dominate the Ivies in football. It is the best sport for us to use our admissions advantages. What advantage does it bring to the University to dominate Ivy football? It's not like we'd ever get any national exposure for it. ugarte KGR11 According to the blog, given our pairwise ranking and based on historical results, we have a 75% chance of making the tournament. I wouldn't believe this on the first day of the season. It's interesting to see that the pollsters continue to undervalue the ECAC schools relative to the PWR and KRACH rankings. It's good for about 2 spots throughout. This isn't necessarily wrong, of course. It seems to me that a poll should attempt to rank based on a perception of true talent and not just results, especially earlier in the season. Trotsky djk26 Does this disaster hurt Cornell's PWR more than the win against Providence helped?Good question. I went on CHN and flipped the results of this weekend's games.
