Re: Cornell football 2015... - 8 years ago
Ken711 CAS Does look like we are running the table this year. 18 losses in last 19 games. 5 consecutive blowout losses. And our best player is graduating, Luke Hagy. Thanks for that upbeat report. Coach Archer says we are building a foundation for a competitive program. ummm....ok, I will have to take his word for it, because the wins-losses say otherwise. More like digging down to the bedrby KeithK - Other Sports
Re: Highlights? - 8 years ago
Swampy Well for 21 you'd also have to consider Bruce Pattison. I couldn't get TBRW to generate data for Bâby (probably because of the "a" in his name), but here are some revealing results for the others. Points per game are: Chartrand, 0.80; Manderville, 1.05; Pattison, 0.99. Remember, Pattison played defense, but most of us today would trade our children to have just one forwardby KeithK - Hockey

Ken711 Swampy Jeff Hopkins '82 ugarte CAS Cornell is a 35 point underdog at Dartmouth this Friday, in a game that is nationally televised. Hard to imagine this game being on TV will help our recruiting... I don't know. It will probably look like a lot of playing time is available for freshmen. If that's not looking for a silver lining, I don't know what is. Getting the #1 pick in the draft?by KeithK - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs Niagara 10/31 - 8 years ago
Swampy KeithK Trotsky upprdeck took us what about 10 games to score 3 in a game last year? 7. Last year we had 7 goals after 6 games (1-4-1). This year we have 7 after 2 (2-0-0). So far, so good. Hopefully this year's early success owes more to team improvements (Paintball!) and less to scheduling a rather lousy Niagara team. We will see. Re: Polls 2015-16 - 8 years ago
marty KeithK Shows how much i've been paying attention to polls. When did they start listing 20 teams in the USCHO poll? That's pretty ridiculous. Since 16 teams are in the NCAA tournament I don't see a problem listing 20 in the poll. With the autobids you never have that many spots available. 15 seems more than sufficient to me. Swampy's comment is right, of course. But I don't have to likeby KeithK - Hockey

Four goals tonight. More freshman scoring. Plus, Jeff Kubiak doubled equaled his freshman and sophomore goal output. Hopefully this is all a sign of good things to come and not just a sign of playing a bad Niagara team.by KeithK - Hockey

Getting back to your original point, I wonder why those two were wearing the C tonight in contrast to what was reported previously. Did the Sun writer get his wires crossed? Did something happen? Not a bif deal but I'm curious.by KeithK - Hockey

redice Hilbrich & Willcox are wearing the "C" tonight. That's consistent with what was reported here: (linked by RichH in another thread earllier). Hilbrich and Wilcox will wear C's at home while Knisey and Titinen get the letter on the road. Quad-captains for the win?by KeithK - Hockey

Re: Season tickets - 8 years ago
I imagine the administration did not want to be seen as offering official approval to the information that might have been handed out. I'm not surprised at all. Then again, it's better to have these things done unofficially. Good to hear that they've sold more tickets this year. It's a little sad that they would need to hirpeople to sell them, assuming you mean sell in the sense of salesmansby KeithK - Hockey

CAS The Big Green Alert, a Dartmouth football blog, reports Cornell is a 10.5 point underdog to Sacred Heart this Saturday. That's fine. When you're this bad you might as well shoot for the #1 draft pick.by KeithK - Other Sports
Re: Re-Sign or Resign - 8 years ago
Kyle Rose CAS If Andy gave an extension to a basketball coach who has won 1/3 of his games during his 5-yr tenure, do you really believe Mike won't be back? Btw Mike's 20-year record at Cornell is 375-222-77. Richie Moran's career coaching record is even more lopsided at 257-121, with a period of practically uncontested dominance in the 70's. There's no question, however, that it was time for hiby KeithK - Hockey

Trotsky rediceStop sitting on your hands waiting for the team to do something great, before you cheer.... Cheer to fire the team up. I know that sounds overly simplistic... But, that's the main difference between the Lynah today & the Lynah of yesteryear. This is important. In Lynah at its best the noise often precedes the action. Re: Will a new president bring any changes in the athletic dept? - 8 years ago
CAS Given we have uncompetitive programs in certain "major" sports - football and basketball - I don't believe the athletic dept is running alright. Sure. My point is I don't think being competitive in football and basketball is a priority for the Cornell administration, with or without a new president. If athletics aren't costing the school money and aren't embarassing the institutioby KeithK - Other Sports
Re: Will a new president bring any changes in the athletic dept? - 8 years ago
I doubt the Athletic Department will be a priority for a new administration. For all of the complaints we have the AD is basically running alright. We're competitive in a bunch of sports, not running abig deficit (as far as i know) and there haven't been any major scandals (the lax coach thing is the closest thing to an issue I can remember and that's way back). I suspect htat that is all thaby KeithK - Other Sports

RichH LynahFaithful *YAWN* I don't see Arizona State Hockey going anywhere soon in their first year of playing Division 1 Hockey - they have played club hockey in the past and the jump to Division 1 is going to be HARD initially.
