Re: Quinnipiac signs 23 year-old transfer - 8 years ago
Beeeej Anybody remember how old Dick Bertrand was when he was tri-captain for the 1969-70 undefeated team? Pretty sure he was 28. Goose, gander, pot, kettle, whatever. But he was our 28 year old, damn it!by KeithK - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac signs 23 year-old transfer - 8 years ago
Kyle RoseIf it's just that Q is pulling from a pool of players traditionally less deeply recruited, ... I feel like this is the crux of it. Q is looking for solid college players in a pool that isn't as heavily mined. These kids are probably less talented overall than those who enter college at 8 or 19 but make up for it in strength and maturity. We used to get a lot of guys in the 21 year oldby KeithK - Hockey
Re: Quinnipiac signs 23 year-old transfer - 8 years ago
Swampy Instead, I interpret this thread to represent the strong feeling among some participants that Q belongs in a conference more like HE than the ECAC. People have said as much. If we have aspirations of being contenders for the national championship then this line of reasoning is kind of pointless. We still have to best the less academically focused schools in order to have national successby KeithK - Hockey

Re: Playoff Ticket Refunds - 8 years ago
hippo I strongly believe unclaimed Playoff Ticket refunds should automatically go to the specific athletic program. I'm not sure why this should be so. I imagine ticket revenue for games that do happen goes into the athletics general fund. So why not this revenue? Relying on fine print for the return policy is kind of sketchy but that's a different quesiton.by KeithK - Hockey

Trotsky KeithKThat cool logo has not been removed from the tiling in the hallways of the Ralph. They'd just about have to redo the entire flooring to do so - each logo is about ten feet across. This was deliberate, IINM. At least they don't have a swastika at center ice. I believe you're right. Englestadt wanted to do everything he could to make sure the logo stayed. ugarte Anyway, I think about this article (in part about how eventually statistics redeemed old scouting opinions regarding catcher defense that the statheads had dismissed as nonsense but mostly about humility) all the time when I think about the Royals' emphasis on contact, speed and defense (and a shut-down bullpen). Thanks for that link. Great read.by KeithK - Hockey

Kyle Rose I freely admit I am trolling to some extent at this point. Not completely, because I think my point has some legit value, but I am trying to provoke as well as make a point. That's pretty much what I meant by "Kyle being Kyle". Hockey East has played with an uneven number of teams before (many, many seasons in that state) and has shown a willingness to do that rather than scramble to "even-up". So it's no guarantee that the Derrticks would be invited to jump. That said, I agree that it's a pretty logical move.by KeithK - Hockey
