Kyle Rose KeithK Kyle Rose French RageDon't forget the skating treadmill! I want to try the skating treadmill. I presume it's only for the varsity athletes, though. Make a big enough donation and you can probably work something out.Yeah, but a big enough donation and I could just buy one myself. My only interest is in trying it for about 30 seconds. A small donation then.by mnagowski - Hockey

I do remember the volunteer setup, I didn't want to say anything for fear of opening old wounds. But it was extremely well done back then, and when you start to look at what's out there in 2009 in terms of technology....put it this way, I would like to see what the volunteers could come up with and compare that to Redcast. I don't think there is anything stopping a student organization from doby mnagowski - Hockey

Re: Records we haven't set lately - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla TimV Roy 82 How about "Greatest Attendance at a Cornell Hockey Game". Could it be one of the two Red Hot Hockey games at MSG? That would still make it the highest attendance at a SINGLE Cornell game as opposed to a double header at the FF semifinals. Those FF were still 2 separate games, so our number should be for our Buffalo game. However MSG is probably the highest to see aby mnagowski - Hockey

How about "Greatest Attendance at a Cornell Hockey Game". Could it be one of the two Red Hot Hockey games at MSG? Nope. The second largest city in New York State features a slightly larger hockey arena. 18,535 saw Cornell lose to New Hampshire in 2003 at the HSBC arena in Buffalo. The Garden holds 18,200. Although this past weekend may have seen the greatest number of Cornelliby mnagowski - Hockey

I wrote about this a little while back when Tom's story was featured in the New Yorker: The big concern with football -- other than whether or not we will ever win an outright Ivy title again -- is just how violent of a sport it is -- and how dangerous it can be for a player's long-term health. This week's New Yorker documents Tom McHale, a Cornell and NFL alum, who suffered from "riby mnagowski - Other Sports

Jim Hyla margolism What's the deal with Boston University? They lost, again, to New Hampshire 4-2 They are 3-7 on the season. They've already lost more games this season than they did all of last season. Re: Cornell 4 - 0 Princeton; 2nd Period - 14 years ago
BCrespi mnagowski I guess this TV broadcast was essentially eating up all the bandwidth coming out of athletics and knocked out everything including the media wireless in Newman. This would make sense, given that SportsNet New York didn't show the basketball game as they advertised. When I tuned in I saw a five-second still of Louis Dale, followed by a black screen, followed by an infomercial.by mnagowski - Hockey

hard to think 100 viewers at such a low bandwidth would cause server issues.. I suspect the number is higher. Lots of parents, program alums, etc. probably like to watch the wrestling matches.by mnagowski - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 - 0 Princeton; 1st Period - 14 years ago
I wonder if the servers are overburdened right now with all the sports events going on or what the problem is exactly. That's a decent thought -- what with three pretty big events all going on at the same time. Edit: Maybe we can blame Al for triple-dipping. It also doesn't help that SNY is somehow showing an infomercial instead of the basketball game.by mnagowski - Hockey

TimV statenaurora I would appreciate expanding and combining the information found on this into one document, working title, "Cornell Hockey for Dummies." It's a terrible shame Cornell didn't move to replace the forest sooner, because now I fear we are stuck with Cornell feeling like a city, with trees in planters, rather than buildings nestled in the spaces between trees. Not to further the thread-drift, but when I was back on campus in July I was struck by how much taller the trees on Ho Plaza had gotten since I graduated four years ago. So mayby mnagowski - Hockey

There's no grand conspiracy to advantage kids born in January. I never suggested there was. And I agree with you that sport is more merit-based than most realms of our society. I was really just trying to ruffle your feathers by offering a hockey-related anecdote suggesting that a lot of accomplishments in life happen with some confluence of random chance.
