Buy and sell tickets for Cornell hockey games
Re: Re-Elect Darren Rumack for SA - 21 years ago
I was taking an enormous, stinky dump this afternoon, and I happened to think about Cornell hockey. That definitely warrants a post on this forum. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Most likely upset this weekend - 21 years ago
Okay, I was the only entrant who had yet picked Princeton at the time I made my picks and posted them on the message board. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 21 years ago
As Age said, eBay has been a very reliable source of reasonably priced tickets if you're willing to look hard for the best deal. I sold my tickets for the 2001 Albany FF on eBay when an injury prevented me from going, and I made a small profit, but all things considered I'd have rather been there. In my experience the few times I've actually attended the FF, the availability of tickets in the vby Beeeej - Hockey

In the USCHO Message Board's ECAC pick the winners contest, I was the only entrant who actually picked Princeton to shock Brown. I doubt it'll happen, but hey, if it does, I look like a genius. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four - 21 years ago
Step 1: Buy tickets in 1999 for a moderately-attended Anaheim Frozen Four. Step 2: Using your continuously increasing priority from having bought those tickets, continue buying through the lottery every year whether you're actually going to attend or not. If you need help with the time travel part of step 1, let me know. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: CU-Princeton - 21 years ago
'fraid not, Jim - I tried to remember to pick up a bag of Snickers minibars on Nassau Street before the game, but failed to. I did buy myself a pack of Nutter Butters during the first intermission, though... Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Pre-Princeton Game Dinner - 21 years ago
There's always the Triumph Brewpub - in fact there may be a reception there pre-game for Cornell folks. Anyway, could someone give me a call (XXX) when y'all pick a place to eat? I should be in town by 5ish, I think. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Princeton Game - anyone going to New Jersey? - 21 years ago
At least if I'm the guy throwing the Snickers, I can be reasonably sure I won't get hit in the head with one of them. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: [not woofing] Albany plans - 21 years ago
I dunno - if Harvard is there, since Albany's a much easier trip from Boston, you might actually see twelve fans there instead of six. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: [not woofing] Albany plans - 21 years ago
On the rare occasions that I've been to the Kni^H^H^HPepsi, I've found the Big House Brewing Company - a mere three blocks away - to be a good place to drink and eat before or after. See this page for reviews: I seriously doubt that we'd be the only school represented there, but we can certainly try to take the place over early or something. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Princeton Game - anyone going to New Jersey? - 21 years ago
Hm... would it be presumptuous of me to bring some Snickers and Reeses Mini-Cups in your absence? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Sex poll - 21 years ago
That never occurred to me, believe it or not, John... I have a strong aversion to Greatest Hits albums and a medium aversion to post-Fish Marillion, so that album is rarely on my mind. :-{)} Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Frozen Four Tickets - 21 years ago
NY state law says you can't sell them for more than 20% over face value (I think it used to be 10% until this year). So with face value (including service charges, I believe) being $121.25, it's illegal to sell them for more than about $145. That having been said, it's been traditional in the past for Cornellians to sell tickets to other Cornellians at face value regardless of the demand. Beeeby Beeeej - Hockey
NYC Gathering for Cornell-Yale on TV - 21 years ago
The Riviera Cafe/Sportsbar on Seventh Ave. South between W. 10th St. and W. 4th St. will be showing the Cornell-Yale men's hockey game at 7pm on Saturday, 3/1. I'll be there with some friends by 6:30 at the latest - if you're planning to join us, let me know, so I can make sure the Riv knows how many of us to expect. E-mail <jta1@cornell.edu> They've got good food, a good drink selectionby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: key 'cheer' - 21 years ago
See my edited post... I was at the '87 game at Penn (my girlfriend at the time, a soph at Rutgers, met me there for the weekend), but the game I was thinking of with the keys was the first home game of the '87 season, which was Colgate. I also helped tear down the goalpost at the Penn game in '88, and helped pitch it into Cascadilla Gorge. Damn, that was fun. :-{)} Yep, Mark was and still is mby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: key 'cheer' - 21 years ago
I'm just as sure - because of how shocking it was that we were beating them - that we did it during the 6-2, 4-2 sweep of Hahvahd in the 1990 QFs, and I don't remember it being a surprise or "new thing" of any sort. I also remember asking my brother for the first time what the keys meant at the Cornell/Colgate "freshmen on the field" football game in Schoellkopf in 1987. Othby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: key 'cheer' - 21 years ago
We were doing it at Lynah in '87-88, '88-89, and '89-90. And in Schoellkopf, on those occasions when we won some games. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

*giggle* Sorry to pick on you for this, but this particularly tickled me. Coup de grace is an idiom for "crowning moment" - coup de gras means "fat blow." Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Maine Loses? Cornell #2 in PWR? - 21 years ago
It appears that after tonight's results - pending the final outcomes of a few slightly less relevant games, obviously - we're #2 in RPI, KRACH, and PWR. Wow. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
#6 for Lenny - 21 years ago
A delerious, awe-struck congratulations to David LeNeveu on nailing his sixth shutout of the season tonight against RPI - tying a Cornell single-season record set over thirty years ago by the great Ken Dryden. David also now has eight career shutouts. Dryden's career record is thirteen. No pressure, Lenny. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: hockey only conference - 21 years ago
Actually, since we are now speaking for Beeeej, I don't think that was the point he was trying to make at all. I think he was pointing out that within the canons of legal ethics, a litigant (and more importantly, for contempt purposes, counsel) can not hide directly contrary authority. I suspect many would not have realized that, given the low esteem in which the profession is often held. Exactby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: hockey only conference - 21 years ago
Exactly. In fact, I've learned very quickly that the most important skill in legal writing is known as "distinguishing" - the art of saying "that case doesn't apply to this one" and getting the judges to believe it. I handed in my first moot court brief this morning, and I'm actually quite proud of how well I distinguished some pretty heavy hitter precedents. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell Loses Defenseman - 21 years ago
I remember the guy in question was enormous -- something on the order of 6-4ish 215ish. Bâby's little brother? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: hockey only conference - 21 years ago
That's one of the hardest things to get used to about legal writing. It's always been advisable to make concessions to the opposing point of view when writing an opinion piece - but in a legal brief, it's unethical and illegal not to cite binding cases that hurt your position. yet it galled him to no end that his coaching career ended with a loss to Cornell at Lynah in ECAC quarterfinals. ...the year after he'd won the national championship, no less. I respected him a great deal as a coach, right up until those last quarterfinals. After Cornell won the second game, he skated his team off the ice, refusing to let them shake hands with Cornell's team. He may have powby Beeeej - Hockey
