No. I have absolutely no fun travel stories from the weekend. And neither does Lowell. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Vesce Milestone approaching - 21 years ago
A little bird has just informed me that Nieuwendyk was indeed the last Cornell junior to hit 100 points - which he did in the first game of his junior season, 1986-87. And while we're at it (thanks, little bird), Mark McRae currently has 91 points, and if he reaches 100 before the end of his senior campaign, would be the first Cornell defenseman to reach that mark since Chris Norton '88. Vesce Milestone approaching - 21 years ago
With his two goals at Hahvahd, Ryan Vesce now has 93 career points, and four regular season games remaining this year. It'd be very cool to see him hit 100 as a junior. Greg, John, or anybody else who happens to know - when's the last time a Cornell player reached the 100-point plateau as a junior? Beeeej P.S. Re: pepsi arena - 21 years ago
Way back in 1996 - final score 33-27, in double-overtime. Not just the first overtime game in Ivy football history, but the first overtime in college football history. Chad Levitt had a great rushing game, IIRC. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Cornell Big Red hockey cards - 21 years ago
Nate, Around here, you can pretty much assume that if anybody is able to help, they will try to help. You can also generally assume that almost everybody reads almost every post in almost every thread. So posting twice to emphasize how anxious you are - especially only a couple of hours apart - isn't likely to improve your odds very much. Just a thought. That having been said, have you lookeby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Mr. Morris goes to Vancouver - 21 years ago
On Morris, I can't tell from the article whether this is a permanent job for him. I hope it is, and I wish him well. But if it is permanent, what does this do to his lawsuit against Clarkson? One of the complaints in the original filing was that Clarkson's search process for a new head coach was causing Morris "irreparable harm" and that the "derogatory news accounts" publisheby Beeeej - Hockey

Where on earth do you get the idea that he thinks that the figure for law school applicants is lower than for other Cornellians? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: poor grades? - 21 years ago
And since people like data, I just looked up the breakdown of Cornell GPAs (courtesy of the Law School Admissions Council). 76% are at 3.0 or above. Is that the breakdown of Cornell GPAs, or the breakdown of Cornell GPAs among law school applicants? 'cause there's gonna be a serious difference. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: 2003-4 Schedule - 21 years ago
Wasn't the plan for the home-and-home with BU that we'd probably do two years on, one year off, rinse & repeat? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

I'm just glad to see that one of the Hahvahd games will be during semester break, so I can be there without major stress. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: poor grades? - 21 years ago
(I know of no one at Cornell during my time there that had a GPA below 3.0 for their whole four years.) C's are outliers, D's and F's virtually impossible to get without some effort. *giggle* I guess I did work pretty hard at it. Luckily, I'm taking law school a little more seriously. Re: Colgate behavior - 21 years ago
At least fans of most hockey teams don't try to influence the outcome of a game unfairly. Back in '96, some idiots at Colgate were caught aiming a laser pointer into Jason Elliott's eyes; they didn't even get thrown out of the rink, they only had their pointer confiscated. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Giving to Cornell Hockey (new thread) - 21 years ago
Here's an interesting thought. If the Athletics Dept. budget can't be used for recruiting - does that mean that only the men's hockey gift account can be used for recruiting? What I'm getting at here: Can the Cornell Hockey Association's money be used for recruiting? I've been directing my money to the CHA instead of to the men's hockey gift account due to the gift "boycott" we've bby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: Maine Game, televised? - 21 years ago
Unless something drastic has changed - and nobody's announced it, which is highly unlikely in the event of such a drastic, important change - the game is simply not being televised. Anywhere. It never was. Don't waste your time going to the Sporting Club; you'll prevent yourself from listening to it online while you expend pointless effort. Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey

Re: [TV right now] 1980 - 21 years ago
I watched the second and third periods of ESPN Classic's rebroadcast of (most of) the Miracle on Ice game tonight. Is it just me, or does it seem to you that today's Cornell team could probably have beaten both the US and USSR 1980 teams? Have skills, speed, equipment, etc. developed so much across the board, or is there something wrong with my perception watching the game on TV? Beeeejby Beeeej - Hockey
Re: [OT] Bills vs. Oilers - 21 years ago
Josh, if you're suggesting that it's possible Chabot or Marr will perform spectacularly in their appearances in place of LeNeveu only to have Cornell fail in the playoffs at the highest level of competition, I would suggest that that's not a very good attitude to have. If you're merely enjoying yourself at the expense of Bills fans, I would suggest you move on to something more challenging, coby Beeeej - Hockey
[OT] Bills vs. Oilers - 21 years ago
A) It was Jan. 3, 1993, the third of the Bills' four consecutive SuperBowl seasons. B) Frank Reich started the game in place of an already-injured Jim Kelly - injured in the final game of the regular season, against... the Oilers. Reich also already held the record for the greatest comeback in college football history, for Maryland - down 31-0 to Miami, he replaced starting QB Stan Gelbaughby Beeeej - Hockey
[OT] Sarah Hughes TV Special, Dec. 25 - 21 years ago
From Cornell's latest news digest: NBC will air Sarah Hughes: A Life in Balance on Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern time. It is a "one-hour family special showcasing the grace and style" of the Olympic gold medal winner "both on and off the ice," the network says. Sarah is the daughter of John Hughes '70 BS, '71 MBA, '74 JD and Amy Pasarnack Hughes '71 BSHE, '74 MBA. Her brotherby Beeeej - Hockey

They tend to be very defensive about it, though - many, MANY people wrote in when they first changed the design to suggest that it was overly-simplistic, poorly laid out, and just plain bad. But if you didn't have any specific criticisms, they (justifiably, IMHO) responded with a request for more specific suggestions rather than just "the homepage sucks."
