Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: IJ Article on the helmet - 16 years ago
Since the helmet discussion seems to have resurfaced... I respect Scrivens' dedication to the Faithful, but I really don't think it's the best looking- a bit dull even. Maybe if he turned some students into man-eating dragons...by Cactus12 - Hockey

Tears for love of the game... they should be bottled and put in the hall of fame.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - Canadiens Fan Forum - 16 years ago
Hopefully OB has outgrown the "mishandle-and-turnover-the-puck-2-feet-in-front-of-his-own-net" move or the Canadiens fans will not be as satisfied in a few weeksby Cactus12 - Hockey

The chances are apparently good... that is not THE Mark Messier http://www.ecachockey.com/men/officials/Messier_Markby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Riley Nash Brown Goal - 16 years ago
The problem is the actual filming. When you watch NHL or even CSTV, they'll zoom in on a player as he maintains control of the puck (and even the initial zoom is considerably closer). It's very difficult to see stickhandling from space. Still you can tell that he pulled off some nice moves.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: MSG Marketing (or lack thereof) - 16 years ago
For a while it was an almost guaranteed ad during every commercial break on Rangers hockey radio (heard at least 10 times during games on a few separate occasions)by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 @ Dartmouth 1 (3rd) - 16 years ago
Could someone list the lines as they were tonight in the postgame thread? Thanks.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 @ Dartmouth 1 (3rd) - 16 years ago
the dartmouth commentators have conceded defeat in an effort to jinx usby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Harvard 2 postgame - 16 years ago
I would think, given the low goal totals over the past few games and (IMO) the importance of establishing a no.1 goalie, that Scrivens will start.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info - 16 years ago
yeah, I've spoken to some people familiar with ticket resale- they said scalpers wouldn't have bought up these tickets, seems like it will be a packed house after allby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - BU pregame - 16 years ago
I was going to mention Stout too- it's a popular Rangers bar and very big.by Cactus12 - Hockey

Moulson Interview Matt Moulson interview (audio)- talks about moving up to the NHLby Cactus12 - Hockey

I also vote to relegate this topic to the depths of eLynah obscurity (and hypocritically bump it in the process)by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros - November 2007 - 16 years ago
Thanks. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed the disappearance of the shift charts... the TOI reports are a pain to go though.by Cactus12 - Hockey

I really hope they don't send him down when Calder gets backby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Brown 1 (postgame) - 16 years ago
The ability to win close games is tremendous... says a lot about a team. As far as Nash goes... will teams with top defenses be able to bottle him up or is he that step above already? (haven't seen him play yet)by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 at Brown 1 (3rd period) - 16 years ago
Even the Brown commentators called it "highlight reel"- must've been niceby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 at Brown 1 (3rd period) - 16 years ago
the brown commentators are bitchingby Cactus12 - Hockey

2 ppg's? What's gotten into them tonight?by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 at Yale 1 (3rd period) - 16 years ago
The Yale commentator was convinced they would come back after that goal... very oddby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 1 at Yale 0 (3rd period) - 16 years ago
How is the powerplay looking in general? I'm listening to the free audio (Yale radio online) and the commentary is awful.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info - 16 years ago
Yeah, that's an unfortunate aspect of having the game at a venue like the Garden. People who make their livings reselling tickets put up prices that would be "appropriate" for the Rangers games rather than college hockey. They don't know/care about the event and will just take the loss when no one buys and let the tickets go to waste.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Off the Crossbar: Quinnipiac penalty shot was, apparently, the right call - 16 years ago
That was an extremely comprehensive Cornell hockey article... very impressive. As for the penalty shot rule, I think they should switch to the NHL's version. The ability to backcheck on a breakaway and knock the puck away is an amazing defensive play. It's just another rule that removes skill from the game.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Princeton Postgame - 16 years ago
dude- Everyone on this forum has watched enough hockey to know what they're talking about. I assure you, we all know what screens are as we know when goalies are being hung out to dry. However, there are in fact games in which a goalie gives up soft goals. Telling people they don't know hockey because you disagree with a postgame assessment is ridiculous.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: From the stands - 16 years ago
I agree... having designated shooters can work fine when you have guys who get the puck on net. Even at the NHL leve- look at the 06-07 Montreal Canadiens- 22.8 PP% (good for #1 in the league) with basically Souray/Ryder taking all of the initial shots.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT postgame - 16 years ago
I agree. I graduated this past spring (07), and would have to say that the 06-07 season really showed a decline in the interest of fans. Here's my analysis of fanbase 07-12: 07- I think that some of the now graduated class of 07 "left" with Moulson. It may not always win hockey games, but a star whose name floats around the dorms can bring out fans. Senior year and an esp. mediocre tby Cactus12 - Hockey
