I guess I'm not surprised at this - those announcers are likely future Harvard TA's. I counted about 7 fans. Attendance inflation.by marty - Hockey
Random thoughts from Albany - 20 years ago
The attendence is Albany was poor yesterday. There were many more fans from Wisconsin at every other outing that I have seen them play. The Ohio State University brought little more than the band and cheerleaders. Their turnout was similar to Providence last year. The only significant fan base was from Maine. I expected to see the committee send Michigan to Albany to pump up ticket salesby marty - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Maine SPOILER thread - 20 years ago
And because Wisconsin was in the house last night there were some Badgers at both of those games. I hate to say that the 1973 game was more memorable than the game last night will be for me. But that game in 1973 may haunt us forever. At the game yesterday there were no replays on the big screen at center ice. I was sitting in the back of the lower deck center ice section and the TV crew waby marty - Hockey

GoRaiders Wrote: While I can't imagine this would change your mind about 'Gate fans after the crap the frat boys pull at Starr each year, I can almost guarantee they won't be in Albany. Most of them tend to only show up for a few games during the season, primarily the Cornell game. Unfortunately, you guys are the unlucky ones that have to suffer the consequences of that. I have to add a thankyou to Age also. It was nice to meet you in the flesh and we (my family and I) will look forward to meeting up with you again. This is the place that has held my attention all winter. The only thing better is being at the game.by marty - Hockey

French Rage Wrote: C'mon, it's Hornby's last college game, and probly his last overall. Why not pump up the crowd for next season and let him leave on a high note by just taking some clarkson player into the corner and wailing on him til he cant take it no more? That's what RIP coach Dan Fridgen was faced with when his seniors went after the Cornell players at the end of game three in 19by marty - Hockey

Thank you seniors! - 20 years ago
It's a little hard to take the loss but I really do want to thank the seniors. I would have rather thanked them after next weekend or the weekend following or... But this was a great season for a supposed rebuilding year. The team was on fire in the Everblades tourney and that gave us hope for the rest of the year. We had every reason to be among the "faithful" in our hopes and joby marty - Hockey
Re: The Lynah and E-Lynah Gestapo - 20 years ago
Sure enough, at my first Harvard game, in the 1971-72 season, I seem to remember some guy goes out on the ice before the start of the second period and leaves behind a tethered chicken. No fish at that time, but certainly fowl. Maybe some recreational drugs were a factor in this vision/memory. I don't remember anything like this at Lynah that year. Re: Albany lodgings - not woofing! - 20 years ago
However, if RPI makes it to Albany, I expect parking to be a completely different situation. Their quartet of fans seldom leave Troy. Seriously, there will be spotty support for the RIP team in Albany. Many of their townie season ticket holders (excluding ringers such as myself) wouldn't go to Albany to see the nationals in 2001. Most don't bother to check out the regionals in their bieby marty - Hockey

The Wall Street Journal of 3/10 has an article comparing the Panasonic DMR-E80H (the one with a hard drive) to a $300 Gateway DVD recorder and a GoVideo unit that includes VHS playback (for transferring old tapes to DVD). The reviewer did not like the Panasonic in comparison with a TIVO. The article didn't change my opinion. I am waiting for the next generation of recorders or for these to bby marty - Hockey
Re: Union No-Goal - 20 years ago
Actually I want a combo TIVO and DVD recorder but the one I want hasn't been invented and/or is too expensive. The Pioneer at a grand almost fits but is too expensive for me. What I like about the Panasonic models is that they record to DVD RAM in addition to other DVD media. DVD RAM allows you to watch a show on demand (skipping commercials and pausing) and record that same show at the sameby marty - Hockey

Re: Union No-Goal - 20 years ago
Abel seems to have left out one important fact. The Red he is referring to in his "Let's Go Red" tagline can only be interpreted as those Cherry and White players whose Puckman mascot graces the morgue in Troy. We have an intruder in our midst and a very loyal hockey fan and good friend to boot. And with that I give good Abel a ceremonial boot! P.S. Thanks for dropping by!by marty - Hockey
Re: Union No-Goal - 20 years ago
I agree. I freeze framed the original tape and it looked like it went down and behind Mayotte. I will try to get a still shot of the puck before and after the crossbar, but this likely won't be tonight. If you can imagine, I have something else to do!by marty - Hockey
