Unexpected kid-complication is keeping us from going.... If anybody wants a subsidized room for Friday/Saturday at the Hampton, let me know. (Became non-cancellable yesterday....) Cby CKinsland - Hockey
Time well spent in the library? - 11 years ago
I'm a little startled nobody brought this up earlier.... (and, now, a bajillion other sites have picked up the story). I clearly spent my time in the wrong libraries. Perhaps this belonged in "Other Sports"? CKby CKinsland - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game & site critique - 12 years ago
Chris '03 This is interesting because I renewed my license here in CT a few months ago and was given the option of paying more and getting the enhanced license. They told me that my license would expire before I needed it to fly and that it otherwise had no purpose whatsoever so there was no point in getting it even though I'd dug through papers for an hour to find the 75 required points of ID. Re: Harvard 6 Cornell 1 ECAC post-game & site critique - 12 years ago
If you're driving across the border into Canada you can use an "enhanced driver's license" as ID instead of a passport. Cheaper and somewhat easier to get than a passport (though, it does require a trip to the DMV....ugh). It isn't much faster than getting a passport. In my case, getting one for myself and enhanced, non-driver state IDs for my minor-age children instead of gettinby CKinsland - Hockey

Driving down on Friday +3. I'm sure my daughters will enjoy the slots and strippers. I'm hoping we don't have the same sort of weekend we had last year in Erie for the women's frozen four. CKby CKinsland - Hockey
Hockey Stinks (in an olfactory sense) - 12 years ago
Jillson and Ross heavily quoted. Given the wafts of odor over the glass during games, I can only imagine what it must be like the in concentrated confines of a locker room. CKby CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Future of UAH - 12 years ago
I went to the UNH-UAH game in Durham on Nov 26 and was both amused and gratified to see a variety of pro-UAH signs. "Save UAH" and "We Still Love You" were among them. I realize the complications are considerable, but it would be nice if the program could be saved. College hockey is a great sport, wherever it find a foothold. CKby CKinsland - Hockey

Re: Women's Frozen Four Thread Party? - 13 years ago
I'll be in Erie, but with young ones so I won't be partying. I can loan out a man, but I need him back in reasonable shape. I like getting him back like this but I don't want him returned like this For those headed to Erie, we're planning to check out: and Anybody from that area have other suggestions for dining and/or entertainment? Re: Cornell 7 Dartmouth 1 -- FF ticket question - 13 years ago
I'm heading to Erie for the Frozen Four next weekend and I have some questions about tickets. I can buy a set of all-session tickets via Ticketmaster (second deck, corner). Apparently, they haven't released the tickets for individual games, yet. Will Cornell be getting an allotment of tickets? Should I wait and get tickets from them to be seated in the Cornell section? I find it harby CKinsland - Hockey

Re: Greening getting called up by Sens - 13 years ago
Whew....I was getting worried about being able to see him play in Binghamton with the call-up rumors flying about. I made it down there on Saturday, luckily just under the wire. I've never been to a non-college hockey game before. We (guest and kids) had a great time! Greening played solidly and earned an assist. CKby CKinsland - Hockey

Re: Pop Warner question - 13 years ago
According to Wikipedia (bastion of the truth that it is): Wikipedia While at Georgia, Warner also coached Iowa State University.[4] He coached teams from two schools simultaneously on three occasions: Iowa State and Georgia during the 1895 and 1896 seasons, Iowa State and Cornell in 1897 and 1898, and Iowa State and Carlisle in 1899.[5] Warner's Iowa State record was 18–8–0, bringing Warner'sby CKinsland - Other Sports
Re: Lax Notre Dame -Duke NCAA title game - 14 years ago
Jim Hyla Jordan 04 Jim Hyla There are many reports of this. Many have made the national news over the past few years; I'm surprised this is news now. Do a Google search of water fountains, bacteria and read to your hearts content. Actually, I did try finding some information on this after TimV's initial post. I didn't want to make a new thread for this and the lax poll seemed as good a place as any. I have to admit, I'm still amazed at how much the players can whack each other. CK (Edited for proper image placement. Thanks billhoward.)by CKinsland - Other Sports
Big Red Day--Saturday April 17 - 14 years ago
The City of Ithaca is issuing and official proclamation declaring Saturday to be "Big Red Day" in honor of the success of the men's and women's hockey teams and the men's basketball team. The marching band will be performing and they will give away cake. CKby CKinsland - Hockey
Re: Literature Fans - 14 years ago
ugarte Josh '99 Ahh, this is a proper offseason thread. Well done. At the moment I'm reading The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen, but I'm not far enough into to be able to say whether or not I recommend it yet. Depends which story arc you're on. That book was full of hills and valleys of interest. Parts of the book took me by surprise. In the end, I liked it and think back on it often.by CKinsland - John Spencer Is Dead

Re: Student attendance off all sports, all colleges? - 14 years ago
CUontheslopes I agree with your all your points. I particularly hate that the CU Athletic Dept is so stupid as to have hockey and basketball games at the same time so many weekends. Do what bigger colleges do - move one game up, one game back. Play hockey at 530 and basketball at 8 or some variation thereof. God forbid we we play a Sunday afternoon game when we could put our two biggest winter spby CKinsland - Other Sports
